Indie rockers, The Mags, unveil the first single ‘When I Get Home’ off their upcoming album ‘This Is The Mags’.
Originally the house band of the legendary Liverpudlian ‘Cavern Club’, The Mags moved from Liverpool to New York to continue their musical journey.
‘When I Get Home’ is the first single off their debut album ‘This Is The Mags’ produced by legendary engineers Danny ‘Kootch’ Kortchmar (Billy Joel, Carole King, John Lennon) and Will Schillinger (The Beastie Boys, Aerosmith, The Ramones) and mixed by the grammy award-winner Mike Shane (Flight of the Conchords, Rosanne Cash, Elvis Costello).
With some big names behind this record, this is a rock album with serious pedigree and credibility.
The Mags have captured the magic of early noughties DIY bands like ‘The White Stripes’ and ‘The Black Keys’ with a unique flair.
Now the band are back in the UK with plans for a slew of releases ahead of their upcoming album.
The first single ‘When I Get Home’, is a blues-infused rock ‘n’ roll track recorded in NYC after a 5 day drinking session.
‘When I Get Home’ was recorded live with each member of the band playing alongside each other as they would on stage.
By recording live, the band stayed true to their ethos of truthful musical representation and avoided sounding over-produced.
This recording process allows listeners to experience the band as though they were in the room with them, capturing the energy and the feeling of a live performance.
When asked to speak about the track, the band state
“it’s about the energy and confusion of youth. The ‘not knowing what the f*ck you’re doing, or where you’re going, and having to deal with low moments and mental health struggles, but those bad times being interspersed with incredible moments and wild highs with friends who are kindred spirits. It’s about the boundless energy and heartbreak of that messy time in all our lives.”
Though seemingly out of nowhere, The Mags have exploded onto the circuit with their new single which promises to be an important addition to the indie rock scene.
