“For nearly forty minutes, Boneyard deliver classic melodic hard rock on ‘Black Static’. Packed with memorable melodies, exceptional vocals, and a crisp, powerful production, the album offers tremendous entertainment value. At the same time, heavy riffs and varied songwriting ensure plenty of depth. As a result, the band is likely to appeal to a broad spectrum of both rock and metal fans.”
The Metal Mag (98/100):
“A colorful band from the energy and vibe they are spreading throughout their music. With no doubt they will make a big jump in the music industry. This is rock and roll baby! Sweet but not too much, with emotions and rocking tunes to get you dance all day. A must-have 98/100.”
Loud Enough? Magazine:
“Canada’s Boneyard unleash BLACK STATIC – 9 tracks of top-notch hard and heavy rock, dramatic and rich, while keeping it warmly melodic, with killer vocals from Pamterra!”

Canadian hard rock and melodic metal quartet Boneyard released their second studio album, ‘Black Static‘, independently on October 23rd, 2026, featuring nine tracks that combine powerful guitar riffs, memorable melodies and commanding vocals with themes ranging from personal struggles and addiction to political corruption and social injustice.
Formed in 2015 by vocalist and guitarist Pamtera and drummer Jefftimus, the band established its musical identity with the debut album ‘Oathbreaker‘, independently released in 2020 and subsequently reissued internationally through Italy’s WormHoleDeath Records in 2022.
The album was mastered by Grammy nominated and Juno Award winning engineer Maor Appelbaum in Los Angeles.
With ‘Black Static‘, Boneyard continue to develop their mixture of traditional hard rock and heavy metal while introducing new creative influences through bassist Lezzy and lead guitarist Garhardt.
The result is a diverse collection of songs that moves between driving metal, melodic rock, punk influences and more atmospheric arrangements.
Opening track ‘Met You In A Dream‘ combines rapid guitar passages with a story of romantic rejection and the lingering emotional effects of a vivid dream.
The heavier ‘Left Me To Drown‘, largely written by Lezzy, explores the experience of escaping an abusive relationship through the metaphor of a pirate ship.
Featuring alternating lead vocals from Lezzy and Pamtera, the song transforms its dark subject into a message of survival and personal strength.
The album also addresses more serious social issues.
‘Not This Way (Joel’s Song)‘ tells the true story of a man struggling with schizophrenia, homelessness and drug addiction, ultimately losing his life to an overdose.
Told from his mother’s perspective, the song develops from melancholic guitar passages into a powerful expression of grief and helplessness.
‘Blood In The Bond‘ introduces punk influences alongside heavier metal passages and collective vocal harmonies.
Beneath its energetic musical character lies a reflection on alcoholism and the destructive consequences of addiction across generations.
One of the album’s central statements comes with ‘Before The Fall‘, a song confronting greed, corruption, inequality, war and the failures of political leadership.
Despite its critical subject matter, the track ultimately carries a message of hope, encouraging cooperation and a different future.
Its accompanying music video also draws attention to human trafficking and missing and murdered Indigenous people.
Elsewhere, Boneyard reveal a more playful side with ‘Hanging Tree‘, an entertaining combination of country influences and heavy metal built around a Western outlaw story.
‘Compass Points To War‘ continues the band’s fascination with cinematic storytelling, portraying a dramatic naval battle through energetic riffs, harmonised guitars and powerful vocals.
The album concludes with a cinematic piano interpretation of ‘Before The Fall’, arranged by Garhardt, replacing the original song’s heavier instrumentation with piano, synthesiser textures and atmospheric percussion.
The artwork was created by Calgary artist Tom Bagley, who also designed the cover of ‘Oathbreaker‘.
Once again, the illustration features the band’s mascot, Misty Bone, maintaining a visual connection between the two releases.
With ‘Black Static‘, Boneyard demonstrate their ability to combine traditional hard rock and melodic heavy metal with varied songwriting and subjects that extend well beyond the familiar themes of the genre.
From personal experiences and social commentary to theatrical storytelling, the album reflects a band expanding its musical identity without abandoning its roots.
