XEELAND
has released 7″ vinyl
‘Zones’
XEELAND released new single ‘Zones‘ with B-Side ‘Wall Beast The Plague‘ as a limited-edition 7” via Champion Version Records and digitally via God Unknown Records.
This release is an unflinching dive into the liminal spaces where sound and chaos collide.
Both tracks are meticulously constructed from drones, field recordings, found instruments, and layered sound collages, creating a rich sonic tapestry.
The spoken-word text, drawn from a cut-up technique, adds an unsettling, claustrophobic edge to the music.
The words are lifted and scrambled from a review of ‘Stalker’ (1979), the iconic Soviet science fiction film by Andrei Tarkovsky.
The result is an abstract, fragmented narrative that evokes the same eerie, enigmatic atmosphere as the film itself.
The release features an international cast of voices, with contributions from:
Anouk Wouters, Simon Atkinson, Martijn De Jong, Laura Loriga, Bob Van Heur, Andy Cairns, Scott McCloud, Tim Cronin and Darren Smallman
These voices weave through the tracks, adding texture and intensity to the soundscapes, creating an almost cinematic experience that blurs the line between music and auditory art.
‘Zones‘ is a brooding, immersive piece that builds layers of tension through drones, scattered field recordings, and fractured spoken word.
The track explores the unsettling beauty of chaos, its random yet deliberate structure inviting listeners into a world of uncertainty and awe.
While ‘Wall Beast The Plague‘ is a darker, more volatile offering, this B-side delivers a jarring auditory experience.
Distorted soundscapes collide with fragmented voices, evoking an ominous sense of decay and disorder.
The 7” vinyl, pressed in a small run by Champion Version Records, is a must-have for collectors of avant-garde sound art.
Meanwhile, the digital release via God Unknown Records ensures Xeeland’s latest work is accessible to a global audience.
The creative project of Jason Stoll, Xeeland fuses elements of experimental music, literature, and sound design to craft immersive sonic worlds.
‘Zones‘ and ‘Wall Beast The Plague’ exemplify his ability to reimagine sound and language, delivering art that challenges and captivates in equal measure.
