Costa Rican power metal force Wings of Destiny will unleash their forthcoming album ‘Masters of War‘ on December 12th, 2025, via King’s Music Records – marking a bold new chapter for a band long considered one of Latin America’s most promising exports to the global metal stage.
Across six explosive studio releases, Wings of Destiny has carved out a loyal cult following while catching the attention of the international scene.
Their track record includes collaborations, tours, and recordings with some of the genre’s most respected names:
Fabio Lione, Timo Tolkki, Mike Vescera, Roberto Tiranti, Victor Smolski, Firewind and Gus G, A.N.I.M.A.L., Rhapsody Reunion among others.
Critics and fans alike have hailed the band as a reliable source of top-tier power metal craftsmanship – both in the studio and on stage.
The band raised the stakes again with the announcement of two major additions to their lineup:
David Shankle (ex-Manowar) on guitar and Mike LePond (Symphony X) on bass, both joining as official members.
Shankle, known worldwide for his lightning-fast technique and fearless creativity, established his legacy as one of metal’s iconic shredders during his tenure with Manowar.
His songwriting credits on power metal staples such as ‘Ride the Dragon‘, ‘Metal Warriors‘, ‘Power of Thy Sword‘, and ‘Master of the Wind‘ helped define the genre through Manowar’s multi-platinum ‘Triumph of Steel‘ era.
Meanwhile, Michael Anthony LePond III brings an equally formidable resume.
Since joining Symphony X in 1999, his thunderous bass work has been a defining force behind every studio album since V:
‘The New Mythology Suite‘.
With more than 40 album recordings to his name – including guest appearances across the European metal scene – and four solo records with Mike LePond’s Silent Assassins, he remains one of progressive metal’s most respected musicians.
With ‘Masters of War‘ approaching and a powerhouse lineup now solidified, Waves of Destiny are gearing up to take their new material to the stage – promising a live show that matches the ambition, precision, and fire that have fueled their rise so far.
