album

On March 27, British melodic rockers White Skies will release their second studio album, ‘Shouting At The Hurricane‘ – a record that confidently carries the torch of classic AOR into the present day.
Produced by vocalist Mick White, guitarist Ray Callcut, and keyboardist Pete Laikin – who also handled mixing and mastering – the album represents a refined and focused step forward.
It captures the spirit of timeless Adult Oriented Rock while delivering a fresh, contemporary punch, proving that melody, emotion, and craftsmanship never go out of style.
The first signal of this new chapter comes in the form of the video single ‘If This Is It (Get Ready)‘.
Big on hooks and driven by a soaring, arena-ready chorus, the track is a perfect introduction to the album’s sound.
It blends polished musicianship with infectious energy, showcasing the band’s knack for writing songs that feel instantly familiar yet vibrantly alive.
The accompanying video, produced and directed by James Heron (Carriage Return Media Services), underlines the band’s confident stage presence and sharp visual identity.
Although White Skies officially formed in 2020, the musicians behind the name bring decades of pedigree from the British hard rock and AOR scenes.
Frontman Mick White has been a recognizable figure since the mid-1980s, most notably as a member of Samson, where he toured alongside Iron Maiden during the ‘Somewhere in Time‘ era and appeared on releases such as ‘And There It Is‘ and ‘1988‘.
His résumé also includes stints with Paul Samson’s Empire and First Strike.
Guitarist Ray Callcut has been associated with cult AOR favorites Ya Ya since the early 1980s, while keyboardist Pete Laikin previously played with Dante Fox and Double Cross.
Drummer Daz Lamberton has built a reputation as a highly regarded studio musician, working with British melodic hard rock mainstays Ten, among others.
Completing the lineup is bassist Rob Naylor, known from NWOBHM act Sam Thunder.
Despite these impressive backgrounds, White Skies have never positioned themselves as a nostalgia-driven project.
From the beginning, they have operated as a fully committed band – an identity reinforced by numerous live performances across the UK and Europe.
Their 2022 debut, ‘Black Tide‘, was met with strong acclaim and quickly established them as a serious contender within the modern melodic rock landscape.
With ‘Shouting At The Hurricane‘, White Skies build on that momentum.
The album spans the full emotional range of AOR – from uplifting anthems to heartfelt, introspective moments – anchored by first-class songwriting and seasoned musicianship.
Big choruses and rich harmonies sit at the heart of the record, reviving the golden age of melodic rock not as imitation, but as continuation.
In White Skies’ hands, AOR is not a relic of the past – it is vibrant, relevant, and ready for the world’s stages once again.
