Greek guitar virtuoso Costas Varras continues to make waves in the world of melodic metal with his solo project, VARRAS.
Since launching his career in 1999 with his first band, Perpetual, Varras has consistently charted his own course, blending virtuosic guitar work with melodic sensibilities and a neo-classical edge that sets him apart in today’s contemporary music scene.
After cutting his teeth on the local Athens circuit in the early 2000s and releasing his debut solo album, ‘Overlord’s Perpetual‘, Varras moved to Hollywood in 2006 to pursue his craft professionally.
There, he graduated from the Musicians Institute and reformed his band in Los Angeles, collaborating with acclaimed producers and artists along the way.
A notable session with the legendary Chris Tsangarides in 2009 remained unreleased, but it foreshadowed the ambitious, genre-spanning projects to come.
In 2017, Varras entered the studio with Bob Katsionis to record ‘Neon-Classical‘, released in 2018 and reissued by LION MUSIC in 2022.
That partnership continued in 2020 with the single ‘Rock You Hard‘, featuring the legendary Mark Boals, signaling the beginning of a new era for Varras under Lion Music.
The guitarist’s third album, ‘Electric Stardom‘, released digitally on October 31, 2025, further cements his status as a modern metal powerhouse.
Featuring vocals from both Mark Boals and Goran Edman, the record is entirely written, arranged, and produced by Varras, alongside co-producer Leonidas Petropoulos.
The album delivers high-octane power, intricate compositions, and polished production, showcasing Varras’ commitment to uncompromising artistry.
