Montreal’s retro rock revivalists Tony Rust and The Mudhorses kicked off 2026 in style with the release of their new single ‘Can’t Believe My Eyes‘, unveiled on January 1st as the first taste of their forthcoming studio album, due to land in spring 2026.
The track sets the tone for what promises to be another high-voltage chapter from a band that has steadily built its reputation on sweat-soaked live shows, classic songwriting, and an unshakable love for rock’s golden era.
Comprised of five guys and one lady, Tony Rust and The Mudhorses channel the spirit of late ’60s and ’70s rock with a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly alive.
Crunchy guitars, infectious hooks, and a raw, no-frills energy define their approach, while their performances lean heavily into the kind of unfiltered excitement that made classic rock a cultural force in the first place.
This retro aesthetic isn’t a costume – it’s a lived-in attitude that carries through every riff, chorus, and mile on the road.
Since launching their debut studio album in September 2021, the Montreal-based outfit have barely slowed down.
Relentless touring and a growing live following culminated in the release of a live album in 2025, capturing the band in their natural habitat:
loud, loose, and fully in control of the room.
With their third album now lined up for spring 2026, the single ‘Can’t Believe My Eyes‘ arrives as a confident statement of intent – proof that the Mudhorses are still charging forward, not content to simply look backward.
Whether tearing up a stage or cruising between shows behind the wheel of their beloved 1988 Dodge, Tony Rust and The Mudhorses embody the road-tested romance of rock ’n’ roll.
With momentum on their side and new music on the horizon, they remain a band best experienced at full volume, preferably somewhere packed, sweaty, and just a little bit dangerous.
