Two decades after first staking his claim on the name, Bobby Jensen is drawing a new line in the dust.
Following confusion caused by multiple acts operating under the same moniker, The Dead Cowboys will now ride forward as Bobby Jensen and The Dead Cowboys – a move that not only clears the air, but signals a creative reset for the man behind the heavy western vision.
Rather than wage legal battles over trademark rights, Jensen chose evolution over litigation.
His own profile has grown substantially in recent years – bolstered by a strong personal following and viral notoriety from his fiery onstage moment as Paul Stanley – making the decision as strategic as it was artistic.
By placing his name front and center while titling the album ‘Dead Cowboys‘, he preserves the mythology while freeing himself from the constraints that had begun to box in the project.
The legend remains;
the storytelling expands.
To mark the transition, Jensen is releasing ‘The Lake‘, the first in a planned four-part video saga drawn from the debut album.
The clip was directed by Andy Pilkington, known for his visually striking work with Judas Priest, Saxon, Dee Snider, and Motörhead.
What began as a standalone narrative about a train robbery has evolved into something more ambitious: an interconnected arc centered on a figure Jensen calls the ‘demon desperado‘.
Four songs, four chapters – an outlaw myth unfolding in cinematic installments, with the door left open for future continuations.
The decision to build a larger narrative world feels fitting for an artist whose career has consistently blurred spectacle and substance.
Beyond his work fronting Hairball, Jensen previously embodied the Starchild in KISS tribute acts and toured North America with appearances on MTV.
His long-standing involvement with Solid Rock Teen Centers – founded by Alice Cooper – and his creation of the stage production Almost Cooper further underline his deep roots in theatrical rock tradition.
Musically, Jensen’s range stretches well beyond the western-metal hybrid he champions here.
He collaborated with Johnny Kelly and Dan Lorenzo in Patriarchs in Black, contributing songwriting and vocals that showcased a darker, more classic heavy metal edge.
Yet it’s within the Dead Cowboys universe that his dual identity – raised between Minneapolis streets and rural Tennessee roots – finds its most personal expression.
That tension was already evident on 2025’s ‘Super Country Cowboy‘, a stomping declaration of identity that fused arena-sized riffs with down-home storytelling.
If that track celebrated the outlaw archetype, ‘The Lake‘ deepens the mythology – less caricature, more cautionary tale, wrapped in thunderous guitars and cinematic ambition.
Now, under the banner of Bobby Jensen and The Dead Cowboys, the project feels less like a revival and more like a reclamation.
The name may have shifted slightly, but the mission remains intact:
loud, defiant, and unapologetically American – only this time with a clearer signature on the brand and a broader horizon for the stories yet to be told.

via nocturna:
“The Dead Cowboys is an album where musically and thematically the southern soul intersects with the most traditional country, the most worked classic rock and the most electrifying riffs.”
Gonzookanagan.com:
“The Dead Cowboys is a pretty fuckin’ cool album.”
World of Metal:
“There are riffs that make you want to speed down the highway and choruses that make you stomp your feet like a drunken cowboy. The Dead Cowboys are here to have fun, unleash precise riffs, and along the way, create a sound that may sound bizarre on paper, but comes to life with raw authenticity. If the idea of seeing Lemmy playing in a haunted tavern brings a smile to your face, then this album is for you. At the end of the day, “Heavy Western” is exactly that: dust, alcohol, fat riffs, and stories you can sing at the top of your lungs. And you know what? It works!”

Blazing out of the American heartland, The Dead Cowboys are the sonic outlaws redefining what it means to ride the line between heavy and country.
With a signature sound they’ve dubbed ‘heavy western‘, this band is a hard-hitting fusion of roaring guitars, outlaw swagger, and dust-kicking groove that feels like a harley riding through a ghost town at midnight.
Originally formed in 2005 by Bobby Jensen – a powerhouse performer with a voice as wild as the frontier – The Dead Cowboys started as a passion project blending Bobby’s deep love for classic country storytelling and the raw energy of metal.
But when his other band, Hairball (a high-octane heavy metal tribute juggernaut), exploded onto the national scene, The Dead Cowboys were temporarily put out to pasture.
Fast forward two decades and a pandemic later, and Bobby felt the winds of change howling.
With the world paused and the road calling once again, he knew it was time to saddle up and resurrect The Dead Cowboys.
What began as a side project is now a full-throttle mission to deliver a new kind of American music – one that’s loud, unapologetic, and rooted in both rebellion and tradition.
Whether they’re melting faces with a double-time riff or haunting souls with a steel-laced ballad, The Dead Cowboys are kicking down genre walls and leaving a trail of dust and devil horns in their wake.
Bobby Jensen beside the singer of the band Hairball was also the ‘Starchild‘ in KISS Tributes Strutter as well as the group KISS ARMY in the 90s and early 2000s.
Touring North America with appearances on MTV as well as performing at KISS conventions.
Bobby has worked with Alice Cooper’s nonprofit ‘Solid Rock Teen Centers‘ for 12 years and built the show ‘Almost Cooper, The Alice Cooper Show‘ with assistance from Alice Cooper’s prop builders and costume team.
He also performed on the ‘Patriarchs in Black‘ album with Johnny Kelly of Type-O- Negative/Quiet Riot, and Dan Lorenzo of Hades and wrote and sang ‘Hallowed Be Her Name‘ and ‘Dead and Gone‘ with Dan Lorenzo for their ‘My Veneration‘ album.
