After a string of nostalgic singles that introduced listeners to their cinematic take on pop rock, Sheffield duo Skyracer have reached an important milestone with the release of their debut album, ‘Skyracer V1.0‘.
Built around the creative partnership of lifelong friends Dan Fox and Chris Brayshaw, the record captures the band’s signature blend of soaring guitars, shimmering synths, and emotionally honest songwriting.
Rather than simply collecting previously released material, ‘Skyracer V1.0‘ presents a complete musical journey.
The album combines eight earlier singles with three brand new songs, creating a cohesive listening experience that explores love, friendship, identity, ambition, nostalgia, loss, and the memories that continue to shape us long after the moment has passed.
Tracks such as ‘Under The Lights‘, ‘We’ve Been Alive‘, ‘Los Alamos‘, and ‘Last Token‘ each represent different emotional chapters, moving effortlessly between uplifting energy and reflective melancholy.
The newly released single ‘I Just Wanna Know‘ continues this approach, combining infectious melodies with heartfelt lyrics that perfectly complement the album’s nostalgic atmosphere.
Drawing inspiration from artists such as Boys Like Girls, The Ataris, The Midnight, and Busted, Skyracer create a sound that feels both familiar and refreshingly personal.
Pop rock melodies meet retro inspired synth textures and cinematic arrangements, resulting in songs that evoke late night conversations, long drives, first loves, old friendships, and the bittersweet process of growing older without losing sight of the dreams that once defined us.
At its core, ‘Skyracer V1.0‘ is an album about holding on to the moments that matter most. It celebrates the experiences, relationships, and memories that continue to resonate throughout life, reminding listeners that growing up does not necessarily mean leaving the past behind.
With a warm sense of nostalgia and an unmistakable emotional sincerity, Skyracer deliver a debut that feels both timeless and deeply relatable.

Sheffield’s (UK) pop-rock connoisseurs Skyracer have released the new, attention grabbing and 90’s nostalgia-fuelled pop rock track ‘We’ve Been Alive‘ on the 1st of August, 2025, as a self-release.
“Marking our third single release to date, this hook-heavy track is a cinematic coming-of-age story about growing up, growing apart and the people and places that shaped us.”
With big driving guitars, synth arrangements and heart-on-sleeve lyrics, ‘We’ve Been Alive‘ is for anyone who still gets haunted by old mix tapes and memories that hit out of nowhere.
“Imagine Boys Like Girls meets The Midnight at the end of a John Hughes movie.”
Dan Fox and Chris Brayshaw are the production and song-writing force behind SKYRACER.
The South Yorkshire duo are gearing up for UK tour dates this December, along with dropping a cassette and trading card bundle to go with the release.
“SKYRACER is all about holding on to your youth – even when the world has moved on.”
Earlier on in 2025 these Britts had already released the singles ‘Under The Lights‘ and the debut ‘Howling‘.
‘Under The Lights‘ is a cinematic, 90’s pop rock inspired love song set in New York City, capturing the thrill of new romance and the moment it just ‘clicks‘.
“The song channels the nostalgic rush of staying up all night, riding the emotional high of mutual connection and feeling like your living in your own coming -of -age movie.”
The song is influenced by artists such as Boys Like Girls, The 1975, Busted and The Midnight, the new offering blends shimmering synths, big chorus hooks and emotional lyricism to soundtrack the essence of love at first sight.
‘Howling‘ is a hook-laden single, which tells the story of long-lost love and instances that live forever in memory.
Inspired by travels through Southeast Asia and childhood moments racing the sun, the track blends shining synths and driving guitars, channelling the emotion of Boys Like Girls and the neon glow and nostalgia of The Midnight.
As already mentioned ‘Howling‘ was the debut release from an exciting new project deeply rooted in friendship, ritual and capturing the magic and pain of growing up in the 90’s.
All songs are clean/no swearing.
Formed in Sheffield by two lifelong friends who hang, cook, write and record together every week, Skyracer is the brainchild of producers Daniel Fox (Vox) and Chris Brayshaw (Guitar) who blend 90’s pop-punk energy with retro synth textures, cinematic storytelling and the emotion of a midnight voicemail you never sent.
Skyracer captures that fleeting feeling of being young, free and on the edge of something that can’t be named yet.
