Hailing from Helsinki, Finland, Scythe For Sore Eyes have spent more than a decade carving out their own place within the heavy metal landscape.
Founded in 2013, the band has developed a sound built on the contrast between crushing heaviness, melodic depth, and a strong emotional core – a balance that reaches a new level with their third full-length album ‘Face Puzzle‘.
Following their previous releases ‘Dawn Of A Darker Horizon‘ (2015) and ‘Nothing‘ (2019), the new album sees Scythe For Sore Eyes pushing their musical identity further.
Recorded at Inka Studio under the guidance of Juho Räihä, ‘Face Puzzle‘ delivers a heavier and more intense side of the band while preserving one of their defining characteristics:
the interplay between clean vocals and powerful growls.
The album explores themes of inner conflict, desire, boundaries, and personal struggle.
The previously released singles offered glimpses into the emotional range of the record.
‘Lust‘ examines the tension between temptation and restraint, while ‘No!‘ delivers a more direct message about personal autonomy and the importance of respecting one’s own boundaries.
Musically, Scythe For Sore Eyes continue to combine the weight of modern heavy metal with melancholic melodies and atmospheric songwriting.
The result is a record that feels dark and powerful, but never without a sense of vulnerability.
The band’s approach is not only about aggression;

Adding a special touch to ‘Face Puzzle‘, the album also includes two cover versions that reflect different sides of the band’s influences.
The first is ‘Existence In Hatred‘, originally performed by Finnish thrash metal band Sorrowed – a meaningful choice, as Sorrowed was the former band of Scythe For Sore Eyes guitarist and growler Jarno Nummenpää.
The second is a tribute to one of metal’s most iconic classics:
Judas Priest’s legendary ‘Breaking The Law‘.
With ‘Face Puzzle‘, Scythe For Sore Eyes continue their evolution without losing sight of what has always defined them.
