He is a cradle star, born to fascinate the world with his talent, his steely voice, his magic fingers, which gently caress the guitar and it obeys in his every musical tone.
He is born for music, a multi-instrument and twin of the unique Alice Cooper for many many years, also known as a solo artist for his guitar work with Casablanca, Gilby Clarke and Slash’s Snakepit.
He is the primary founder of the System-12 Guitar Method and the host of the weekly ‘In the Trenches with Ryan Roxie‘ podcast.
His ‘Brutal Planet‘, the ‘Dragontown‘, ‘The Eyes Of Alice Cooper‘, the ‘Dirty Diamonds‘ and a large number of songs and achievements follow him until now.
The truth is that there is no enough space to list all his career and his music work in an article.
Υes, you know already what I am talking about…
Ladies and Gentlemen, let’s enjoy the remarkable Ryan Roxie.
Let me tell you that his closest tour, will be on 7th of December at the Celebrity Theatre, of the United States.
The superstar, Ryan Roxie on a confession of heart talked to us about everything you want to know at radiohp.net.
Who is the great Ryan Roxie?
“I’m a guy that’s very lucky and thankful to still be playing guitar on tour in my late 50’s ;)”
What do you remember from the magical concert at Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo club in Cabo San Lucas?
“It was the FIRST time I’d ever been onstage with Alice Cooper, AND it was being recorded for a live record, AND video taped for a VH1 concert series, AND the first time I’d jammed on stage with Rob Zombie, Sammy Hagar, and Slash….but I drank so much tequila after the show….I don’t remember much.”
Tell us a few things about your first ‘solo’ album titled ‘Imagine Your Reality’ and what is the thing that made you proud of it?
“I’m very proud of the Album because it was a nice combination of my guitar playing AND my voice. Many people at that point only knew me as a guitarist for Alice Cooper (even though I had released 3-4 other albums under the names DPM and Roxie 77) Now those people know that I like to sing and front a band as well.”
During the period 2000-2005, which album of yours with Alice Cooper, do you think was the most successful of all?
“I really enjoyed making the album ‘The Eyes Of Alice Cooper’, of all the albums that I was able to record with Alice during those years, THIS one felt the most like a ‘band’…we rehearsed the songs in garage’s and recorded them in make-shift recording studios and had a FUN time doing it through out the entire process. You can hear it in the tracks…that album has ATTITUDE….similar to one of Alice’s earlier albums ‘Love it to Death’.”
What impressions and colors did you get from your collaboration with the great musician Slash and the Slash’s Snakepit?
“Playing with Slash was truly a ‘band’ experience. We wrote the songs together, rehearsed them together and ultimately recorded them all together in ONE ROOM called ‘Snakebite Studios’ located in Slash’s Beverly Hills house at the time. Many, many hours were spent in that house playing music, and a few more of those hours were spent partying in that house….it was the ultimate rock n’ roll jam house….I’m talking Guinness Beer and Jagermeister on tap…plus a never ending supply of Vodka/cranberries…We worked hard, but played even harder…I’m glad I went through that experience because I learned a lot about the guitar just playing with Slash everyday which I’ll always be thankful for. It’s not as though we ever sat down and taught each other, we just learned through hours and hours of jamming. And the end result was the album ‘Ain’t Life Grand’, which I am still very proud of to this day.”
Talk to us about the weekly ‘In The Trenches With Ryan Roxie’ and what is it about?
“‘In The Trenches With Ryan Roxie’ is a semi- weekly podcast where I dive into conversations with fellow musicians, industry pros, and creative minds from all walks of life. It’s all about sharing stories from the road, offering behind-the-scenes insights, and a bit of rock ‘n’ roll wisdom. The show gives fans a real, unfiltered look at life in the music world today, while keeping things fun and relatable. You can find it on my YouTube channel @ryanroxieofficial “
What is ‘the System-12 Guitar Method’ about?
“The ‘System-12 Guitar Method’ in my opinion is the quickest and best way to get started playing guitar. I’ve taken all my years of experience and put in ALL the shortcuts to learning the guitar into this course. I believe that if you take just 20 minutes a day learning the System-12, you will be playing songs, riffs, and gain deep knowledge into the theory of Guitar in 12 weeks…it’s all about the #12 when it comes to the System-12.”
What is it like to live your dream while working for years with the boulder named Alice Cooper?
“He’s been the best Boss you could ever ask for. He put’s 100% into every performance, is secure enough in his own fame that he let’s EVERYONE in his band shine, and is always on time (important yet overlooked quality to have)…it’s been a life changing experience being in his band.”
How is the legend Alice Cooper on the rock music scene and what do you think artistically have you gotten from him?
“I’ve not only learned about music (songwriting, performance, attitude) from Alice…I’ve learned the ‘music business’ from him as well. He’s taught me to make my childhood dream, an actual way of life. I get to live my dreams AND get paid for it…not bad! ;)”
Who are the best artists you have collaborated with on stage, so far and why?
“We’ve been lucky enough to play with so many of the ‘posters on my wall’ growing up that I have lost count. Some of the coolest bands we’ve been able to tour with that I really did have posters on my wall of are Motley Crue, Cheap Trick, Ronnie James Dio, and even got to play onstage the first song I ever learned on guitar (Smoke on the Water) WITH the actually band that wrote it: Deep Purple.”
Do you believe that success changes the quality of our character, has all this fame affected you and in what way?
“I would like to think it has In some ways for the better. Personal success drives me to have more success and hang around people that have drive determination and persistence. Those are ALL good qualities to aspire to have…. I consider myself ‘1 hour’ famous meaning that I’m in the spotlight and ‘know’ for 1 hour before the show, 1 hour while I’m onstage, and 1 hours after the show is done…then I get to go back to being regular ol’ Ryan Roxie ;)”
Do you love Greece and what is your opinion about the Greek music rock scene on nowadays?
“I truly believe that Greece has some of the most passionate fans out there…not just for Alice Cooper, but for Ryan Roxie stuff as well…I’m very grateful to have been able to come to Greece as many times as I have to play for some of the coolest people a rock musician will every play for.”
What is your personal artistic aim for 2024?
“My artistic goal is to dive even deeper into creating music that resonates with fans on a personal level, bringing both energy and authenticity to every project. I want to explore new sounds and collaborate with other artists who push me creatively, while staying true to the rock roots that define my music.”
what can we expect from you from now on as a solo musician and what as a dynamic collaborator of Alice Cooper?
“As a solo musician, I’ll continue bringing the same raw, rock energy that I try to bring each and every night playing with Alice Cooper. I try to make each tour and project an unforgettable experience for the fans. At the end of the day, it’s all about entertainment and as Beetlejuice would say…It’s Showtime!”
