Canadian female-fronted thrash metal band
HYPERIA
has released single/video
‘The Serpent’s Cycle’
The thin line between thrash metal and heavy:
Hyperia present their next single ‘The Serpent’s Cycle’ with an atmospheric horror-themed video.
After their lyric video for ‘Prophet Of Deceit’ and their party anthem ‘Automatic Thrash Machine’, which they served with a truly bespoke video, HYPERIA are now swinging the axes for the final strike before their upcoming album launch.
This time ’round it’s all about the rather complex title track for ‘The Serpent’s Cycle’, their upcoming third full-length to be released on November 17 – and what better way to do this than with a video that fits perfectly into this time of the year?
The brand new music video brings us back to a more serious side of the band with a horror-themed clip filled with witchiness, death and occult-esque themes.
The release is perfectly timed for the upcoming dark and haunting season that is Halloween.
The song will sound familiar to some of the fans who were already lucky enough to see and hear it performed live, as the band explains:
“This was one of the first tracks we completed and have played it at a number of shows across western Canada.”
‘The Serpent’s Cycle’ is as much an analogy to our approach of learning the ins and outs of living a life as it is to how repetition makes us better at what we do, up to the point where breaking the pattern ever so slightly can act as a spark for our own creativity:
“The title track of the album is about how we live the same life over and over again but sometimes we make a different choice which creates a new dimension. It’s your typical Hyperia song, fast, thrashy and heavy. It’s pretty balls to the wall and then releases at the chorus with a catchy melody.”
Sounds like the perfect song for a final teaser of what’s to expect from their next album, that the band underlines to have finally settled into their own sound with:
“It encompasses everything we’re about, taking aspects from our first two albums and multiplying them a thousandfold.”
After passing the live test with flying colors, ‘The Serpent’s Cycle’ marks the final step into a new era for Hyperia and thus gained a very special treatment with an atmospheric horror-themed video.

‘Automatic Thrash Machine’
We’re invited for drinks and circle pits in Thrashland:
Powerhouse HYPERIA released a second single after their recent lyric video to ‘Prophet Of Deceit’.
In-your-face sounding yet melodic, the band makes us raise our glasses with the new song ‘Automatic Thrash Machine’.
Once again, the Canadians prove their ability to impress with fast riffs, terrific female screams that rival old-school thrash legends, and groovy melodies.
Straight-forward thrash with sophisticated structures expressed by every instrument describe this party anthem in the best possible way.
‘Automatic Thrash Machine’ shows the fun side of HYPERIA.
The music video is exactly what fans can expect when they come to see HYPERIA at a live show.
Cherishing the memories of creating the film footage, HYPERIA explain:
“We shot this video at a cool underground venue in Vancouver that our bassist actually works at. We wanted to create a casual house party or show atmosphere by inviting some of our close friends to come out and enjoy a kegger with us. It took some time but eventually people got enough beer in them to let loose and start thrashing. This video shoot was also our farewell to our guitarist Dave Kupisz who we parted ways with shortly before.”
The now two already released singles are a forecast to HYPERIA’s upcoming album ‘The Serpent’s Cycle’, scheduled for release on November 17th.
Dealing with the deep psychology of the human ego and narcissism as well as the severe consequences of our social structures, it also shows lightheartedness with two tracks about the joys of booze and partying – including a glorious cover of the HEART hit ‘Crazy On You’.

A Canadian fury unleashed:
Thrash metal band Hyperia presents single ‘Prophet Of Deceit’.
New album ‘The Serpent’s Cycle’ coming this fall.
Merciless, yet melodic thrash metal packed with intense female screams:
HYPERIA is a Canadian powerhouse that portrays the insanity of the world in their fast-riffed songs.
The old-school quartet delivers groovy terror melodies which invite heavy headbanging.
It’s finally time for the band to break radio silence and announce their upcoming new album ‘The Serpent’s Cycle’ for November 17th.
Dealing with the deep psychology of the human ego and narcissism as well as the severe consequences of our social structures, it still manages to show lightheartedness with two tracks about the joys of booze and partying – including a glorious cover of the HEART hit ‘Crazy On You’.
Fans of early Bay Area thrash and neoclassical guitar melodies will love the band’s sound.
Especially Colin Ryley’s guitar leads and brilliant solos show the power to carry you through a record that holds some of the fastest and most aggressive songs HYPERIA has written to this day.
The band pushed their limits, as they state:
“It consists of everything HYPERIA stands for – shred, speed, and intricacy.”
Single ‘Prophet Of Deceit’ is a hard hitting technical track, full of energy throughout.
It’s also a big fuck off to those who spread false rumors and people who thrive off belittling others.
‘Prophet Of Deceit’ is available on all relevant streaming platforms.
With their first EP Fish Creek Frenzy, the Canadians showed that old-school thrash can definitely be revived and renewed.
‘Insanitorium’ (2020), their following debut album, convinced listeners with technical skill.
Singer Marlee Ryley performed in an outstanding manner, her vocals reminded of shouters like Kyle Thomas of the 90’s thrash formation Exhorder.
And the creativity of HYPERIA didn’t stop there – the band released ‘Silhouettes of Horror’ as their second full-length in March 2022.
Constantly improving their sound and songwriting, the band created a menacing soundwall with this record.
Oscillating between topics such as sleep paralysis, horror stories and mental health, aggression and madness jumped out of this music and abducted listeners into a world like an asylum.
The four thrashheads even included an ABBA cover in a fancy metal version.
Success showed quickly – the album was among the ‘Top 10 Best Thrash Metal Albums of the Year’ in Metal Hammer 2022.
HYPERIA are ready to release their next banger ‘The Serpent’s Cycle’ in November 2023.
