‘Welcome modern heresy’
Vanguardian releases their second EP ‘II: The Heretic’ on Friday 16th of December.
‘II: The Heretic’ takes the listener through an alternative reality caused by human nature and technological development.
Protagonist fights to fix his mistakes, but eventually ends up completing a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Story told in the EP questions the grandiose delusions of humanity, but the band really didn’t pay much attention to this criticism when recording started.
The band wanted to honor those old-school recordings that have inspired them through their musical career.
Therefore the EP was recorded in a fully analog session incorporating those methods that were used in some of the most iconic records ever made.
The end result shows a gigantic middle finger to modern polished and safe sounding productions where all the humanity of musical expression has been stripped off.
‘II: The Heretic’ was produced by Sakari Soisalo and Anssi Kippo and will be released physically on a limited vinyl issue playing at 45 RPM.

Metal band Vanguardian hailing from Jyväskylä Finland releases their third single ‘Pantheon’ from their upcoming EP on Friday 11th of November.
Band backgrounds:
“Of all the songs that ended up on this record, ‘Pantheon’ was the first one that was ready for recording”
Pantheon is also the band’s first ballad-like composition that involved a lot of ‘studio magic’.
Band continues:
“Tino (drummer) recorded the drums with just one take, using just a couple of minutes of our studio time. After trying a couple of hours performing the vocals to the song, our singer (Markus) ended up throwing all the lyrics to the trash. It was a bold move considering that the next day was reserved for recording vocals to this particular song. Therefore Markus ended up writing all the lyrics from scratch the night before vocal recordings started.”
In spite of all the dramatic turn of events (or maybe because of them) ‘Pantheon’ really holds a special importance to all the band members.

Metal band Vanguardian hailing from Jyväskylä Finland released their second single ‘The Collider’ from their upcoming EP on Wednesday 31th of August.
Vanguardian took a leap to the unknown, threw away their prejudices, and recorded their second EP in a full analog session at Astia studio in Lappeenranta.
‘The Collider’ continues the story that was written for the upcoming EP.
The main theme in ‘The Collider’ revolves around mankind’s reckless drive to bend technology to mankind’s will without a thought to its possible consequences.
The band says:
“What is interesting about this song is that a lot of adjustments were made to this song once lyrics were finished. For example, outro was completely different until we got the lyrics from our vocalist. This song became a true collaboration between the band members.”
The Collider was recorded and produced by Anssi Kippo (known especially for his work with Children of Bodom) with Sakari Soisalo.

Metal band Vanguardian hailing from Jyväskylä Finland releases their first single ‘Back to Stone Age’ from their upcoming EP on Wednesday 8th of June.
Single is accompanied by a music video.
Vanguardian took a leap to the unknown, threw away their prejudices, and recorded their second EP in a full analog session at Astia studio in Lappeenranta.
‘Back to Stone age’ opens the game with force, and truly shows the diversity and aggression the band can deliver.
Due to non-existent possibilities to edit anything, every note, and every phrase is heard exactly as they were captured in the studio.
Absolutely nothing is fixed or edited afterwards.
This is something that is not heard too often in modern metal.
Band tells:
“We wanted to record these songs in the sincerest way possible and prove to anyone out there doubting analog recording methods, that modern technical metal is possible to record using a full-analog approach. We quickly realized that we were producing something truly unique in the studio. The upcoming EP is not only proving a point of doing things differently, but also pays homage to all those records that have influenced us since we first picked up our instruments as kids.”
Back to Stone Age was recorded and produced by Anssi Kippo (known especially for his work with Children of Bodom) with Sakari Soisalo.
Music video was filmed by Arto Kettunen, who was responsible for the band’s previous music video ‘The Witchhammer’.
