French metal icons Mass Hysteria dropped a new music video for ‘Le Grand Réveil feat. Fréhel’ from their new album ‘Tenace – Part 1’, released worldwide via Out Of Line Music/Verycords.
Mass Hysteria have reached #1 on the official charts in France with this release.
The album ‘Tenace – Part 2’ is coming out on October 27.
A surrealistic and expressionistic Parisian universe meets the world of metal band Mass Hysteria for their song ‘Le Grand Réveil’ (The Great Awakening).
Fréhel’s voice is represented in the form of allegories of shackled freedom.
The clip creates a visual world that references the spirit of ‘Tenace’ but also adds a touch that evokes and reflects the Paris of yesteryear and the beginnings of cinema.
Fréhel, a singer from the 30s, was revived by the band through metal and brought to life by artificial intelligence.
The video clip was produced using the latest artificial intelligence audiovisual technologies and was conceived and realized by David Raichman aka Davethepreacher.
This unique combination between a variety of atmospheres, texts alternately poetic, intimate, or engaged, and flawless production is catchier than ever, combining the band’s catchy and distinctive mix of alternative/industrial metal with trap elements and bouncy grooves reminiscent of Korn’s early days.

Mass Hysteria returns with a new album in two parts!
‘Tenace – Part 1’ and a visualizer for the song ‘Le Triomphe du réel’ is out
‘Tenace – Part 2’ is out on October 27th!
Mass Hysteria is, with Gojira, one of the biggest metal bands who emerged from France in the 90s/00s to date and is known worldwide for headlining Hellfest Festival and having many of their albums certified gold.
Mass Hysteria is now back with their 10th album entitled ‘Tenace’ released in two parts:
already released ‘Tenace – Part 1’ and ‘Tenace – Part 2’ on October 27th.
MASS HYSTERIA:
“‘Triomphe du réel’ was written to be an epic live song. We wanted something fast and in your face. For it to make everyone go crazy and commune into a moment all together. The intro with its anticipation getting ready to burst. The chorus, with its simple message that it’s the ‘Triumph of the genuine’ that will save humanity. A message of hope and prosperity.”
After coming back to the top with the trilogy of masterful albums ‘L’Armée Des Ombres’ (2012), ‘Matière Noire’ (2015), and ‘Maniac’ (2018), Mass Hysteria confirms in the most beautiful way with ‘Tenace – Part 1’ that they are a unique band on the metal scene.
‘Tenace – Part 1’ has been released as CD Jewelcase, black vinyl gatefold, and digitally.
Recorded at the mythical ICP Studios (Brussels), produced by Fred Duquesne (Ultra Vomit, No One Is Innocent), and mastered by Ted Jensen (Deftones, Gojira, Alice In Chains), the first part of ‘Tenace’ is dense (7 tracks – 27 minutes) in the manner of the great classics of the genre released during the golden age of vinyl.
The punchy title track and opener ‘Tenace’ starts with an unstoppable chorus, a perfectly integrated trap-influenced ‘Mass Veritas’ and even a surprising mash-up with Fréhel’s song ‘Où sont tous mes amants’ (‘Le grand réveil’).
Mass Hysteria is known to always take it a step further, mish-mashing their own sound with a very modern production in a contemporary vibe reminiscent of bands like SKYND or Spiritbox.
