For SHADOW SMILE, independence is king.
They crowd-funded their debut album ‘Signed In Blood’ so they could be free to create the music they are passionate about without interference from labels or management (funded by the fans, for the fans).
Now they are taking this self-funded DIY attitude Live on tour.
Having dominated the main stages at esteemed UK festivals including Call Of The Wild, Winter Rocks and Mayhem Festival, as well as opening for bands such as Skid Row and Terrorvision, Sheffield’s Shadow Smile have now set their sights on headliner status.
The tour will cover much of the UK in two legs (or Chapter 1 and Chapter 2) with an individually curated line up for each city.
“We really wanted to make sure we were supporting grassroots venues and artists with a similar ethos to our own”,
said frontman Connor McGovern.
“We realised we had to be in full control of the tour to do that, so we’ve hired the venues ourselves, booked the bands ourselves and will be managing each event ourselves.”

‘SUCK THE WORLD DRY’
Shadow Smile return with their gluttony themed statement ‘Suck The World Dry’.
The track is the final offering in a trilogy of singles lifted from their debut concept album ‘Signed In Blood’ launching this summer.
‘Suck The World Dry’ contains all the ingredients that has helped establish the Sheffield (UK) foursome as one of Britain’s most exciting new rising metal acts.
Brutal guitar riffs, pounding rhythmic grooves and diligent song dynamics all provide a backdrop for guttural vocals that launch into anthemic hook-lines.
Shadow Smile continue to fuse modern metal stylings with reverential echoes of yesteryears stadium rock grandiosity.
An attention grabbing formula that has earned the independently releasing band a growing legion of fans across the UK and far beyond.
Alike their previous singles ,’Suck The World Dry’ was produced by Daniel Jeffery at Derbyshire’s highly regarded Treehouse Studios (UK).
Shadow Smile also confirm their entirely crowd-funded debut album ‘Signed In Blood’ will be officially unleashed on the 18th August 2023.
‘Signed In Blood’ is an album that delves deep into the human psyche and explores the timeless allure and consequences of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Further details about the album release will be arriving very soon.

‘Hellbound Heart’

Want to know more about the ‘Legend Of The Shadow Smile Cult’?
There are many stories surrounding Shadow Smile.
Some say they’re a Heavy Metal band just like all the rest and others say there is something more sinister at work.
Shadow Smile first began releasing music in late 2019.
These unholy sounds combine huge riffs reminiscent of metal titans such as Avenged Sevenfold and Ghost with the contemporary stylings of modern bands like Bring Me the Horizon and While She Sleeps.
Since their emergence, Shadow Smile have been seducing impressionable metal fans into their cult.
Each of their shows is lined with a sea of Shadow Smile t-shirts and their music videos are filled with fire, druids and scantily clad ladies.
Some say they are ‘corrupting the youth’ and ‘spreading a satanic message’ but a spokesperson for the alleged Shadow Smile Cult reassured us:
“Don’t be afraid, you will be welcomed among the creatures of the night… in the end”.
Exciting times lie ahead for the rising British act who continue to maintain underground credibility whilst radiating with commercial potential.
‘Hellbound Heart’ was independently released on April 21st 2023 & now available on major digital platforms.

‘Signed In Blood’
Sheffield’s rising stars of Alternative Metal ‘Shadow Smile’ return with their new single ‘Signed In Blood’.
This is the title track from their crowdfunded debut album expected to be released in coming months.
Produced by Daniel Jeffery and Mixed by James Pinder (The Wildhearts, While She Sleeps, Malevolence) at Treehouse Studios (UK), the single provides an explosive taste of things to come from the British outfit featuring Connor McGovern (Vocals), Adam Smith (Guitar), Ethan Goebel-Todd (Bass) and Joe Fletcher (Drums).
After eight successful self-released singles,
‘Signed In Blood’ shows Shadow Smile have channelled their varied influences (ranging from contemporary acts like Bring Me The Horizon
and While She Sleeps to the stadium filling sounds of Metallica, Def Leppard and Queen)
into an accessible yet defined take on Metal, perfect for the 21st century.
As part of an overarching concept album about the Seven Deadly Sins, ‘Signed In Blood’ is written from the perspective of Mephistopheles
and sees the listener begged, taunted and bribed into selling their soul.
This acts as a metaphor for the way in which people are guilt-tripped into following societal trends and often turn their back on their own core values for prizes that simply aren’t there.
Lead vocalist Connor McGovern comments:
‘We wanted this song to be a modern take on songs like ‘Sympathy For The Devil’ by the Rolling Stones where the listener is being told why they should forget their morals and join the dark side. Those songs have always been a lot of fun and fit perfectly with the dark Shadow Smile imagery’.
