Norwegian instrumental post/alt rock trio Les Dunes releases their second album ‘From Etne To The Edge of Space‘, on Friday, September 5th on Kapitän Platte.
Earlier on in 2025 the Norwegians had released already three singles taken from this album.
‘Vangen‘ a ten-minute sonic journey that evolves from serene minimalism into a majestic, almost cinematic crescendo.
Named after a central area in their hometown, ‘Vangen‘ captures a sense of space, movement, and emotional gravity.
The track unfolds like a trip:
immersive, slow-burning, and ultimately expansive.
Think Pink Floyd’s atmospheric depth colliding with the raw intensity of Explosions in the Sky – yet with a Nordic edge that’s all their own.
Clocking in at ten minutes, ‘Vangen‘ challenges the format of a single.
It’s not just a track – it’s an experience.
One that draws you in quietly and refuses to let go.
‘Den Hopsack‘ a tighter, more focused track that still delivers the band’s signature sense of momentum and mood.
The song maybe nod’s back to the ‘the low frequency in stereo’ era, but clearly also stands alone by itself.
Clocking in shorter than single ‘Vangen‘, ‘Den Hopsack‘ wastes no time.
It’s a driving, hypnotic piece that blends cinematic tension with melodic clarity – post-rock with purpose.
If ‘Vangen‘ is a space-bound journey, ‘Den Hopsack‘ is the spark before liftoff.
Everything Is Noise notes about the single ‘Lost Signals From Utsira‘:
“Weightless guitars, crunchy bass, and punchy drums evoke shades of post-rock before the takeover of crescendo-core, while also hinting at the emotional heft of slowcore. As one might expect, the track ploughs through several peaks and subtle moments of respite, only ever exploding into a fuzzy riff moments before its resolution.”

The Build-up

Les Dunes is a new instrumental alternative band from Haugesund, Norway, with their self-titled debut album out now on Kapitän Platte/ Apollon Records.
Consisting of members from bands like The Low Frequency in Stereo, Undergrunnen, Lumen Drones, Helldorado and Action & Tension & Space.
The band consists of Per Andreas Haftorsen on guitar, Morten Jackman on drums and Per Steinar Lie on bass.
The result reminds of the fantastic slow-core era bands of the 90ies, like Codeine who create their own version of Explosions In The Sky songs or like Per Steinar Lie claims
“it feels like the vibe of the early days of The Low Frequency In Stereo”.
The music is rooted in a thought of a long freeway drive at night where time stops and the mind flows.
Les Dunes has been to ABC studio in Etne with Kjetil Ulland and recorded 8 tracks, which are going to be their debut album.
The album will be co-released by Norwegian Label Apollon Records, and the German label Kapitan Platte who already released ‘Action & Tension & Space’ and the first two The Low Frequency In Stereo LP’s on Vinyl.
Simon Raymonde from Cacteau Twins and Bella Union comments:
“Nice mellow vibes Explosions In The Sky feelings”.
