Québec modern metal outfit Nova Spei will release their third studio album, ‘Trinitas‘, on November 6th, 2026 through Bam&Co Heavy.
The thirteen track record represents considerably more than another album for the band, marking a period of rebuilding that introduces a revitalized lineup, a new voice and a more organic approach to their established modern metal sound.
At the centre of this new chapter is vocalist Emmanuelle Desbiens Dubois, whose arrival alongside lead guitarist Cédrick Charland brought a significant change to Nova Spei.
Moving from male to female lead vocals required the band to reconsider how their music worked, but what initially appeared to be one of the greatest challenges surrounding the album ultimately became an important part of its identity.
Musically, ‘Trinitas‘ retains the groove and djent influenced weight associated with Nova Spei while moving towards something rawer and less dependent on sequencing.
Working with producer Francis Perron, known for his work with Voivod and Martyr, played an important role in that transformation.
After hearing his first rough mix, the band abandoned its original intention of following the more modern production approach of ‘Sequentis‘ and embraced a more organic sound.
For the first time, Nova Spei also recorded an album in a professional studio rather than their own facilities.
The lyrical character of ‘Trinitas‘ is equally intense.
Rather than following a single narrative, its songs confront experiences including addiction, betrayal, depression, loss, abuse and exploitation, while the recurring ideas of survival and perseverance reflect the circumstances surrounding the creation of the album itself.
The title track introduces this new beginning, while ‘Renaissance‘ directly addresses the obstacles the band faced and their determination to rise again.
Latest single ‘Enterré Vivant‘ provides a particularly powerful introduction to the new Nova Spei.
Built from a guitar riff created by Dany Soucy, the song combines a heavy groove with industrial textures and the new vocal dynamic brought by Desbiens Dubois. Its story grew from the experience of watching someone close struggle with illness, developing into the image of a person metaphorically buried alive and desperately attempting to escape and survive.
The previously released ‘Déraciné‘ takes the album into different territory, addressing the experiences of First Nations people following the arrival of white settlers and governments, a subject particularly important to Desbiens Dubois.
Elsewhere, instrumental piece ‘Résonance‘ deals with the lasting presence left behind after losing someone close, expressing that feeling without the need for lyrics.
The album was produced with Francis Perron and mastered by Maor Appelbaum, whose credits include Faith No More, Halford and Yes.
Its artwork by Filip Ivanovic also connects the band’s past and present, returning to the character seen on the cover of ‘Sequentis‘.
This time the figure holds a new book from which he draws his power, while two others lie on the ground representing Nova Spei’s previous albums.
With ‘Trinitas‘, Nova Spei are not attempting simply to continue where they left off.
The album reflects a band that had to rebuild itself, discover a new chemistry and reconsider its sound before moving forward, turning that disruption into the foundation of its third chapter.
