More than a decade after first emerging onto the progressive rock landscape, Lifesigns return with ‘Anthology‘, a richly curated retrospective that celebrates the band’s remarkable independent journey while opening the door to a new chapter.
Released on May 1st, 2026, the collection traces the evolution of the band from their acclaimed self-titled debut in 2013 through to the expansive live energy of ‘Live In The Netherlands‘.
But ‘Anthology‘ is far more than a standard greatest hits package.
Spanning 42 pages, the release serves as both a musical archive and a visual chronicle of Lifesigns’ first fourteen years, capturing the creative spirit, friendships, and moments that helped shape one of England’s most respected independent progressive acts.
Guided by the reflections of founder John Young, the collection offers an intimate look behind the music, complemented by rare photographs, previously unseen album artwork, and a selection of memorable concert posters documenting the band’s journey across stages and countries.
At the end of the release lies the previously unreleased track ‘After All‘, a song that gives longtime followers something genuinely new to discover.
Featuring legendary drummer Simon Phillips, the track blends Lifesigns’ melodic sophistication and atmospheric depth with the effortless precision and groove that Phillips is renowned for, adding another significant chapter to the band’s ever-expanding musical story.
Over the years, Lifesigns have quietly built a reputation for crafting progressive rock that balances technical finesse with emotional warmth, avoiding excess while embracing rich textures, cinematic arrangements, and deeply human songwriting.
‘Anthology‘ captures that evolution in full, reflecting not only how the music has grown, but also how the band’s loyal audience has grown alongside it.
Rather than simply looking backward, ‘Anthology‘ feels like a celebration of continuity.
A reminder that progressive music can still be ambitious, heartfelt, and independent in equal measure.
For devoted fans, it is both a collector’s piece and a journey through the band’s history.
For newcomers, it offers the perfect gateway into the world of Lifesigns:
reflective, expansive, and unmistakably alive.

Live-Album

Lifesigns is an independent UK band of virtuoso professional musicians.
The band is the brainchild of John Young (keys/vocals), Frosty Beedle (drums), Steve Rispin (sound) and Nick Beggs (bass/vocals).
Their first album, ‘Lifesigns‘, was released in February 2013 and sold well, briefly reaching the UK top 100 album chart.
Guests included Steve Hackett (Genesis), Robin Boult (Fish) and Thijs van Leer (Focus).
The band started touring the following year with Jon Poole joining to replace Nick Beggs who had other commitments.
The line up was completed by former Steven Wilson guitarist Niko Tsonev.
Fifty shows were played over the next year with highlights being appearances at Cruise To The Edge in the USA and Night of the Prog at Lorelei in Germany as well as the Ramblin’ Man and Cropredy festivals in the UK.
In addition to this Live In London, a DVD and double audio CD was released.
This was recorded at Under The Bridge at Chelsea Football Club.
In 2017 a new album ‘Cardington‘ was released.
The album was funded via a pledge music campaign that met its target in just 48 hours.
Album ‘Cardington‘ features guest appearances from Robin Boult (Fish), Dave Bainbridge (Iona) and Menno Gootjes (Focus).
Niko decided to pursue his own solo career after having played on the album, and he in turn was replaced in the band by Dave Bainbridge on guitar and second keyboards.
‘Cardington‘ reached the top ten in the Amazon national chart and was number 4 in the UK Indie chart, all without any mainstream airplay.
In 2018 Lifesigns took to the road again with a third appearance on Cruise To The Edge and a UK tour.
2019 saw the band perform further live dates both in the UK and Europe.
February 2020 saw the release of the single ‘Impossible‘, a radio friendly edit of the track from ‘Cardington‘, which brought the band to a new audience.
June 2020 marked the end of Frosty’s time with the band and the arrival of Zoltán Csörsz.
Their last studio album ‘Altitude‘ was recorded remotely without the band having met Zoltán in person (although you’d never guess that on hearing the intricate interplay between him and bassist Jon Poole) and was released in March 2021.
The current lineup finally played live together in late 2021 and early 2022, culminating in a triumphant performance on Cruise To The Edge in May 2022.
The summer 2022 tour resulted in a double live album, released in July 2023, with a blu-ray to follow.
Touring continues until September 2023, including a long overdue return to Germany and several festival appearances.
After that, the focus was on writing and recording the fourth studio album, which has already commenced.
The latest studio album ‘Altitude‘ was crowdfunded by their dedicated fans in 40 countries worldwide (including 36 US states) and has been compared to everything from Steely Dan to Pink Floyd to U.K.
Album ‘Cardington‘ got to number 4 in the UK Indie chart without so much as a play on mainstream radio.
On the 2024 cruise Simon Phillips (Toto, Protocol) guested on drums as their regular drummer was unavailable.
