French melodic heavy and power metal outfit Kingcrown released their new album, ‘Moonfall‘, on September 4th, 2026 through Rockshots Records.
Across ten tracks, the band combine their European heavy metal foundations with a dystopian concept exploring artificial intelligence, technological evolution, time displacement, apocalypse and the uncertain future of humanity.
Following the strong reception of ‘Nova Atlantis‘, Kingcrown wanted to take their music further without abandoning the identity they had already established.
‘Moonfall‘ remains rooted in traditional heavy metal, power metal and melodic metal, but places greater emphasis on dynamics, atmosphere and a more cohesive approach to songwriting.
The band describe the result as powerful and direct on the surface, while containing enough melodic and atmospheric detail to reveal more with repeated listening.
The title track establishes the dramatic scale of the concept through a final romance between the Moon and Earth as a lunar apocalypse approaches.
Elsewhere, ‘Rise Of Machines‘ imagines artificial intelligence turning against humanity, while ‘All United‘ shifts towards resistance and the need for people to unite in a post apocalyptic world.
One of the album’s most imaginative stories appears in ‘Lost Horizon‘.
Continuing the narrative of ‘Endless Journey‘ from ‘Nova Atlantis‘, the song follows a B17 pilot from 1945 who is caught in a temporal vortex and suddenly transported into the year 2045.
Fast riffing, melodic guitars and an immediate chorus place the science fiction narrative firmly within Kingcrown’s heavy and power metal framework.
Not everything on ‘Moonfall‘ looks towards a dark future.
‘We Are Kingcrown‘ turns the attention directly towards the musicians themselves and what they want their music to represent, while ‘Back To The 80’s‘ celebrates an era that left a defining mark on heavy metal.
Closing track ‘Beyond The Stars‘ then takes the album beyond the destruction of Earth, asking what might remain elsewhere when our own world is gone.
The album was created during three months of intensive work in the summer of 2025, with Kingcrown describing it as a deliberate attempt to surpass what they had achieved with ‘Nova Atlantis‘.
Songwriting remained collaborative, with individual riffs and melodies developing through contributions from the entire band before being shaped into the final arrangements.
Produced by Kingcrown and mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni at Domination Studio, ‘Moonfall‘ brings together melody, powerful riffs, strong choruses and an ambitious narrative without losing the direct character at the heart of the band’s music.
With ‘Moonfall‘, Kingcrown have created an album that looks towards possible futures while remaining firmly connected to the traditions that shaped their music, using science fiction and dystopian storytelling to explore where humanity and technology might ultimately take us.
