It has been a long road from the release of ‘Free With Me‘ back in November 2024 to the arrival of Kathleen Halloran’s debut full-length album, but the wait came to an end.
Released on May 8th, 2026, the record marks a major step forward for the Melbourne-based artist, who now sounds more confident, focused, and creatively assured than ever before.
Leading the way is the album’s latest single, ‘Showstopper‘, a dark-edged blues rocker built around smoky atmosphere, sharp guitar work, and a chorus that immediately digs in.
While Halloran’s reputation as an exceptional guitarist is already well established, the new material places equal emphasis on mood, songwriting, and emotional weight.
‘Showstopper‘ feels less like a showcase of technical ability and more like the sound of an artist fully settling into her own voice.
That sense of identity runs throughout the project.
Halloran’s music carries the spirit of classic Australian rock and blues traditions, but there is a modern sharpness to the way she approaches melody, dynamics, and arrangement.
Her guitar playing remains fiery and expressive, yet never overshadows the songs themselves.
Instead, every solo, riff, and vocal phrase works in service of atmosphere and storytelling.
The album also reflects the growth of an artist who has spent years absorbing experience from the stage and studio before channeling it into something distinctly personal.
Rather than chasing trends or leaning on nostalgia, Halloran crafts songs that feel timeless without sounding dated – rooted in blues and rock foundations while still carrying their own contemporary energy.
With ‘Showstopper‘ offering another glimpse into the record’s sound, Kathleen Halloran’s debut album is shaping up to be more than just a first release.
It feels like the arrival of an artist stepping confidently into her own creative era, armed with instinct, intensity, and the kind of presence that cannot be taught.

Slava Grigoryan:
“Kathleen Halloran is a spectacular artist. Brilliant technically with an evocative and natural musicality. Being present at her first ever solo show is a memory I’ll never forget. I’m thrilled to be watching her achievements and can’t wait to hear more of her wonderful work in the future.”
Tania Doko, Bachelor Girl:
“Kathleen is the breath of fresh air you didn’t even know you needed. Her demonstrative yet effortless stage presence is alluring in itself as she makes her guitar sing with supreme musicianship, taste and soul. And then…Kathleen’s voice further reinforces she is a true, modern day artist with captivating stories to tell. Bringing so much to the table for other powerhouse artists like Kate Ceberano, together the two women form a fierce and beautiful team on and off stage, supporting each other as world class performers. In Sept 2023, I was also fortunate to have Kathleen be my special guest prior to my own show, and she won over every single heart that evening in Melbourne. I look forward to watching Kathleen’s star continue to soar.”
Kate Ceberano:
“Kathleen is a quixotic blend of the practical and the impractical. Not only is she a great musician and performing artist, but the most generous teacher and educator of music. I truly think that she is copmletely original and one of a kind and I don’t think this type of person comes around very often. When she sprouts wings and takes flight, we are going to see things uncommon.”

Educated on the stage alongside Australia’s biggest names, guitarist Kathleen Halloran is now stepping out of the shade into her own spotlight.
Currently supporting Ash Grunwald while balancing an always-demanding schedule of live and session performances, including Jon Steven’s and Kate Ceberano’s sold out ‘Superstars Live‘ national tour, Kathleen is a familiar name to the Australian contemporary music landscape.
Widely known for her swaggering guitar mastery and effervescent, bright onstage expressions.
She’s shared the stage with the likes of Kate Ceberano, Jon Stevens, Katie Noonan, Felix Riebl (The Cat Empire), Mahalia Barnes and Tania Doko to name a few.
An artist that ‘whole heartedly delivers with conviction so strong you’re lost in each moment’ now commences her journey from virtuosic side-woman to solo artist.
With the irresistible spirit and electrifying fretboard flare that as the industry talking, get ready to witness Kathleen Halloran take flight.
Her debut single ‘Free with me’ is infectious, with soaring melodies, youthful freshness and an evocation of heritage Australian rock.
On lead vocals as well as her signature blues-drenched guitar, the track is engineered by some of the country’s finest technicians – Ben Edgar (Gotye, Angus and Julia Stone, Matt Corby) and produced by Ross Irwin (Bamboos, Cat Empire, Paul Kelly).
‘Free with Me’ is going to solidly establish Kathleen front and centre as one of the country’s brightest new musical stars, not only as one of the most sought-after rhythm players, but as an entertainer and musical leader.
“Other artists I’ve shared the stage with: Ian Moss, Troy Casar Daley, Abby Dobson, Melinda Schneider, Iva Davies, Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Slava Grigoryan, Gorgi Coghlan, Totti Goldsmith. Collaborated with blues guitarists Jimi Hocking, Geoff Achison, Stefan Hank. Performed at Melb Guitar show, Adelaide guitar festival, Noosa Guitar Festival, St Kilda Blues Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival.”
