Australian symphonic metal visionaries Imperatore are set to release their third studio album, ‘The Lionspirit‘, on December 19, 2025, via Rockshots Records.
With this new chapter, the Perth-based band continues to blur the lines between heavy metal, classical grandeur, and cinematic storytelling – a blend that has become their unmistakable signature.
Founded in 2022 by composer and multi-instrumentalist Zoran Cunjack, Imperatore began as a personal creative outlet before evolving into a full band featuring Daniel Marijanovic on bass and Sean Allsopp on drums.
Guest musicians occasionally join the project, including guitarist Leon Todd, whose contributions add further depth to the band’s dramatic and operatic sound.
From the start, Imperatore’s mission was clear:
unite the force of metal with the emotional sweep of symphonic and classical music, forging something both modern and timeless.
Their journey quickly gathered momentum.
The self-titled debut (2023) earned critical praise and even a WAM nomination for Song of the Year, establishing their bold, theatrical blend of symphonic rock and metal.
‘Nations, Rise!‘ followed in 2024, expanding their conceptual reach and underscoring the philosophical undercurrents that run through their work.
Now comes ‘The Lionspirit‘, a record that pushes Imperatore further into a realm of epic metal storytelling – fusing orchestral power, progressive textures, and Stoic-inspired themes into a sweeping exploration of courage, resilience, and self-mastery.
The band’s sound remains profoundly emotional:
cinematic arrangements, classical-operatic vocal lines, and dramatic songwriting that taps into the same spirit as Nightwish, Kamelot, Symphony X, Powerwolf, and even Queen.

The new era begins with the first single, ‘Be A Man‘, released alongside a visually striking music video.
