Formed in 1992 in Perm, Russia, GRENOUER are celebrated pioneers of Russian extreme metal and progressive heavy music.
Starting with a potent blend of death metal, death’n’roll, black metal, and thrash metal, they have evolved over three decades into a versatile, forward-thinking force that seamlessly fuses crushing riffs, polyrhythmic grooves, complex time signatures, melodic atmospheres, and industrial soundscapes.
Their early demos and EPs like ‘Death Of A Bite‘ (1993) and ‘Fiery Swans‘ (1996) quickly established them as underground legends within the ex-USSR and European metal scenes.
The 2000s brought a shift toward more experimental and groove-driven sounds, highlighted by breakthrough albums ‘Try‘ (2007) and ‘Lifelong Days‘ (2008), produced by platinum-selling Anssi Kippo (Children of Bodom, Ensiferum).
These releases introduced math metal, industrial metal, groove metal, and progressive metalcore elements that broadened their sonic palette.
From 2013 onwards, GRENOUER embraced a modern melodic metal and progressive rock fusion, releasing critically acclaimed albums ‘Blood On The Face‘ (2013), ‘Unwanted Today‘ (2015) – which scored a perfect 10/10 in Powerplay Magazine – and ‘Ambition 999‘ (2019).
The latter featured the viral hit ‘Alone in the Dark‘, amassing over 30 million YouTube views and solidifying their global presence.
Their music has been licensed for video games, featured in major metal publications such as Metal Hammer and Rock Hard, and referenced in comic books and dark fantasy literature, underscoring their cross-media impact.
In 2021, side project Grenouer Inc. celebrated their early death metal roots, while the main band continued to innovate by integrating virtuoso guitar work, shredding solos, soaring clean and harsh vocals, tight rhythm sections, industrial electronics, and complex progressive songwriting.
Now proudly signed to premier American metal label Brutal Records, GRENOUER’s tenth studio album, ‘Downtown Dream‘, heralds a new chapter of artistic growth and worldwide exposure.
This album will resonate strongly with fans of djent, tech metal, industrial grooves, melodic death metal, progressive metalcore, and alternative metal.
