Fresh off the release of their critically acclaimed second album ‘Black Smoke Rising‘, Norwegian hard rock outfit Gjenferd waste no time in keeping the momentum alive.
On April 10, 2026, the Bergen-based band unveiled their new single ‘Bliss‘.
A track that, somewhat surprisingly, doesn’t appear on the album that only dropped weeks earlier, yet feels like a natural extension of its sonic world.
Fronted by Jacob Særvoll, whose commanding vocals are matched by the unmistakable weight of a heavy Hammond organ, Gjenferd tap deep into the spirit of 1970s hard rock.
‘Bliss‘ surges forward with gritty riffs, punchy drums, and a raw, unpolished energy that echoes the legacy of bands like Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, and Black Sabbath, while still maintaining a distinctly modern edge.
That balance between past and present has become a defining trait for Gjenferd.
While their sound is firmly rooted in classic heavy rock traditions, there are clear traces of contemporary influences, drawing subtle parallels to acts like Ghost and Hällas.
The result is a sound that feels both nostalgic and immediate – familiar in tone, yet fresh in execution.
The release of ‘Bliss‘ arrives in the wake of ‘Black Smoke Rising‘, which has already made a significant impact, earning strong reviews both in Norway and internationally, including an impressive No. 3 spot on the Doom Charts in March 2026.
It’s a testament to the band’s growing reputation and their ability to resonate across generations of rock fans.
Known for their high-energy live performances – including appearances at festivals such as Desertfest Oslo – Gjenferd continue to prove that they are more than just revivalists.
With ‘Bliss‘, they reinforce their identity as a band that doesn’t simply look back, but channels the past into something vital, loud, and undeniably alive.
