Free Drew, rising 3-piece pop-punk/alternative band from Cleveland, Ohio, has just dropped their highly anticipated new single, ‘Empty Promise’, now available on all major streaming platforms.
Known for their energetic, nostalgia-infused sound, Free Drew is quickly making a name for themselves in the alternative music scene.
Formed in early 2019 after a high school ‘Battle of the Bands’ sparked the band’s beginnings.
After two years of playing local shows and refining their sound, Free Drew hit the studio in 2021, recording their first three singles with renowned producer Jim Wirt at Superior Sound.
In October 2021, the group took a major step forward by winning the inaugural Battle of The Land competition, hosted by Tower City in Cleveland.
This achievement landed Free Drew an opening spot for Cleveland legends Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, solidifying their place as a promising local act.
Fast forward to late 2022, Free Drew released their debut EP ‘Rug Burn’, recorded at Lava Room Recording with producer Chris Ebbert.
The EP marked a significant milestone for the band, showcasing their ability to blend pop-punk influences with a modern twist.
Since then, Free Drew has been hard at work writing new material, developing their signature sound, and pulling inspiration from bands like Green Day, Weezer, and blink-182.
Their latest single, ‘Already Waiting’, is a testament to their evolution, delivering catchy hooks, driving guitar riffs, and relatable lyrics.
According to the band, the track
“started with a funky guitar chord that we wanted to be in a song.”
From there, the rest of the song naturally flowed, combining their unique energy and unmistakable pop-punk flair.
‘Empty Promise’ captures the essence of Free Drew’s high-energy, youthful sound while continuing to showcase the band’s growth as musicians and songwriters.
