Glasgow’s fast-ascending metal juggernaut ELD VARG return with ‘Destroyer‘, a record that cements their growing reputation as one of the most formidable new forces in the UK heavy scene.
Before the album’s full release, the trio set the tone by dropping its title track – accompanied by an official video that showcases the band’s battle-hardened intensity.
Founded by guitarist and vocalist Ollie Noakes as a solo studio endeavor, ELD VARG quickly evolved into a full-tilt live assault with the addition of drummer Andy Hedges and bassist Micah Snow.
Their acclaimed 2023 debut, ‘One Man Army‘, ignited their rise through the UK metal underground, earning them high-profile support slots with Anvil, Florence Black, and Ye Banished Privateers, as well as standout appearances at Wildfire and Call of the Wild.
Their headline turn at the Winter Warmer Festival saw them crowned both ‘discovery of the weekend‘ and ‘favourite band of the festival‘, underscoring the buzz surrounding their name.
ELD VARG’s calling cards – crushing riffs, thunderous grooves, and myth-soaked storytelling – remain firmly intact, but ‘Destroyer‘ marks a decisive evolution.
Darker, heavier, and sharpened with purpose, the album reflects a period of upheaval and resilience.
“It was written during a time of uncertainty,”
says Noakes.
“It’s about pushing through hardship when there’s no clear path. The Viking imagery isn’t just aesthetic – it mirrors the journey and the struggle.”
With new music unleashed and live dates on the horizon, ELD VARG are marching into their most uncompromising chapter yet – battle-tested, battle-ready, and sounding deadlier than ever.
