DOCTOR BLACK
will release single
‘Fungus’
Doctor Black returns with ‘Fungus’ – a dark anthem of paranoia and anxiety.
Alternative metal band Doctor Black, led by seasoned UK multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Rob Rees, is set to release their hard-hitting new single, ‘Fungus’.
Known for their fusion of metal, punk, and post-hardcore, Doctor Black’s distinctive sound is aggressively heavy yet undeniably melodic.
‘Fungus’ continues this trend, offering a cathartic exploration of hypochondria, anxiety, and post-pandemic paranoia, exaggerated through the lens of Rob’s unique worldview.
‘Fungus’ is a powerful reflection on the emotional turmoil many experienced during the COVID era.
The track channels these dark themes into an accessible, high-energy anthem built on crushing riffs and catchy hooks.
“The song is about suffering from crippling levels of hypochondria,”
says Rob Rees,
“but it also portrays a heightened version of the collective fear we all went through during the pandemic.”
The band’s debut single ‘Queen of Summertime’, released earlier this year, received worldwide airplay and praise for its bold mix of intensity and accessibility.
With ‘Fungus’, Doctor Black continues to carve out a unique sonic space, blending aggression with melodic sensibility in a way that resonates with both metalheads and broader alternative audiences.
Both ‘Queen of Summertime’ and ‘Fungus’ are taken from the band’s upcoming debut album, which promises to solidify Doctor Black’s place in the alternative music scene.
