DECIBELS & ANIMALS MUSIC FESTIVAL
Alternative Rock
September 5th, 2026
São Miguel Island – Portugal
On September 5, 2026, the Atlantic will echo with distortion, urgency, and purpose.
For one night, São Miguel Island in the Azores transforms into a crossroads of alternative culture as Decibels & Animals brings together international and local artists for a festival where music meets mission.
Set against the dramatic volcanic landscapes of the archipelago, the one-night event is dedicated to alternative rock in its many shades – from raw punk energy to expansive, emotionally charged rock.
But Decibels & Animals is more than a showcase of high-volume guitars and sweat-soaked stages.
It is built on the belief that music can do more than entertain – it can unite communities and drive meaningful change.
Organized by Basalto Cultural Associação de Artes, a non-profit cultural association committed to promoting artistic initiatives across the Azores, the festival stands at the intersection of culture and compassion.
In partnership with Associação Cantinho Animais dos Açores and Associação Animais de Rua, two tireless animal welfare organizations on São Miguel, the event channels its energy toward a tangible cause:
supporting animals in vulnerable situations.
A portion of ticket sales, along with all additional donations raised during the festival, will go directly to these organizations and their rescue, care, and protection efforts.
The lineup – featuring both international and Azorean bands – underscores the festival’s broader ambition:
to strengthen independent music culture in the region while fostering exchange between local and global artists.
In fact, one participating band will use the festival as the launch point for its European tour, positioning São Miguel as a pre-tour spotlight and giving the Azores valuable international visibility.
At its core, Decibels & Animals is about connection.
The performances will focus on high-energy live shows, authentic sound, and genuine engagement with the community.
Every artist involved contributes not just a setlist, but a shared commitment to the festival’s mission.
By amplifying alternative rock alongside a shared love for animals, Decibels & Animals makes a clear statement:
culture and compassion are not opposing forces.
They can coexist, reinforce one another, and leave a lasting imprint.
For São Miguel – and for everyone who believes that music should stand for something – this promises to be more than just another date on the calendar.
It will be a night where decibels carry a deeper meaning.
