Emerging from Leeds, England, Honeycub are a three-piece alternative rock band redefining the sound of modern guitar music.
Formed in 2018, the band fuse the raw energy of ’90s alternative and grunge with the atmospheric depth of early Radiohead and Muse, adding a modern edge reminiscent of Royal Blood.
In recent years, Honeycub have become part of the new wave of heavy guitar bands gaining traction across the UK.
Their high-octane live shows and growing online presence have earned them support slots with scene heavyweights including Fangclub, Big Spring, Black Foxxes, and Sick Joy, cementing their reputation as one of the most promising new acts in alternative rock.
Their early singles – particularly ‘Waking Up‘ and ‘Can’t Deny It‘ – have been featured on major Spotify Rock playlists, achieving over 140,000 and 210,000 streams respectively.
The tracks drew praise from BBC Radio 1’s Nels Hylton and Amazon Music’s Elise Cobain, with Hylton later spotlighting their single ‘Imitation Heart‘ on his Future Alternative show.
Honeycub’s debut EP, produced by Alex Loring (Fangclub, Big Spring, Rews, Carpark, Tropic Gold) and recorded at Giant Wafer Studios in the Welsh countryside, captures the band’s evolution – refining their raw beginnings into a more textured, mature sound.
In June, Honeycub returned after a two-year hiatus with their latest single, ‘WHY2K?‘.
Recorded once again with Alex Loring and mastered by Guy Massey (Radiohead, Oasis, The Beatles, Ed Sheeran, Kylie), the track delivers an intense blend of 90s-inspired grit and modern heaviness, drawing influence from contemporary acts such as Cleopatrick.
Lyrically, ‘WHY2K?‘ presents a darkly imaginative take on the rise of AI, envisioning a ‘Y2K-style‘ global glitch triggered by a self-aware digital assistant seeking revenge.
The track’s use of retro technological sounds evokes the early 2000s era – a creative nod to the band’s formative years and fascination with the intersection of humanity and technology.
With their powerful blend of nostalgia and innovation, Honeycub are quickly carving a place among the UK’s most exciting emerging rock acts.
