With their forthcoming album slated for release at the end of May, Dutch alternative rock trio SONIC WHIP continue to underline why they’re one of the more intriguing young guitar bands to emerge from the Netherlands in recent years.
Their latest single, ‘Invincible‘, is short, sharp, and refreshingly playful – a track that subtly flirts with a ska-like bounce while staying firmly rooted in the band’s heavy, riff-driven core.
That sense of freedom has become a defining trait of SONIC WHIP.
Drawing from 90s grunge but filtering it through a modern, groove-focused lens, the trio have never shown much interest in staying within fixed genre lines.
Instead, they approach songwriting with an open mindset that feels very much of its time – confident, unpretentious, and willing to let contrasting influences coexist.
‘Invincible‘ reflects that attitude perfectly.
Beneath its infectious rhythm lies a song that balances swagger with self-awareness, moving between flirtation and reflection without losing momentum.
It captures the rush of attraction while quietly questioning how love is defined, who controls the narrative, and what it means to feel untouchable in the moment.
The band’s growing reputation has been forged just as much on stage as in the studio.
Over the past year, SONIC WHIP have delivered high-energy performances at major Dutch festivals such as Zwarte Cross and Huntenpop, while also expanding their reach across the Channel with appearances at UK events including Firevolt Rock Festival and Wokingham Festival.
That live impact hasn’t gone unnoticed – the trio recently picked up Radio Wigwam Awards for Best International Band and Best Live Act, cementing their status beyond their home turf.
Recorded in a remote Belgian studio with producer Michael Smith (Wolf Alice, The Saints), ‘Invincible‘ benefits from a focused, uncluttered production that lets the song’s rhythm and hooks breathe.
It’s a release that doesn’t overstay its welcome, instead leaving a strong impression through energy, movement, and attitude.
As the countdown to their next full-length continues, ‘Invincible‘ serves as a sharp reminder that SONIC WHIP are a band comfortable in motion – blending influences, trusting their instincts, and writing songs that feel alive both on record and on stage.

Sonic Whip have released their new Ep, with 3 of their previous singles and one new one called ‘Watch It All Begin‘, which just so happens to be the new single as well.
The new EP is called ‘Spinning Around‘ and was also the first single that was released last year of new material, since their debut album in 2021 ‘Triskelion‘.
The guys recently went to the UK for a short run of dates in the south of the country, unfortunately not the northern or middle of the country for some reason.
SONIC WHIP is a three-piece energetic rock band that uses dancing riffs and a thumping and air-shifting rhythm section.
This young trio is a tight rock group.
“The combination of heavy riffs and polyphonic lead vocals seems to betray that Alice In Chains is Sonic Whip’s biggest influence. But as the overall sound is considerably more upbeat and there are frequent Queens Of The Stone Age recalling quirky stoner riffs pop up, SONIC WHIP still has a completely individual face.”
Their single ‘Space‘ finished second in Radio Wigwam’s ‘Best Song 2022‘ election in the U.K., and in 2024 they crossed the North Sea to tour the UK for the first time.
They returned to the U.K. in August/September for a number of festivals and club shows.
Their new EP ‘Spinning Around‘ has been released, showing audiences their multiple faces.
Expect quirky, heavy but upbeat riffs and polyphonic vocals sometimes reminiscent of the Beatles’ choruses.
With SONIC WHIP are a heavy dose of danceable guitar riffs, cutting grooves and a bomb of energy.
“You’re getting hit with the SONIC WHIP”
