Finnish extreme metal pioneers Mustan Kuun Lapset turns 30!
This is celebrated with several live performances after years of hiatus, and releasing of ‘Suruaika 1993 – 2023 Anniversary EP’.
As with the band’s previous album Kruunu (Inverse Records, 2021), the new EP also has an impressive lineup of guests from Finland and the world;
for example, French professional cellist Axel Salmona, who has previously worked e.g. with Vanessa Paradis, guitarist of the Norwegian metal band In the Woods…
Kåre André Sletteberg, and Voice of Finland finalist and Before the Dawn vocalist Paavo Laapotti.
‘Suruaika 1993 – 2023 Anniversary EP’ contains three new songs, as well as a multinational version of one of MKL’s most famous works ‘Morfiinisiivet’, originally released in 2007.

Finnish dark metal band Mustan Kuun Lapset celebrates their 30th anniversary with a new EP “Suruaika” to be released in March 24th 2023.
Now they have released the song “Muistoa kunnioittaen” from the upcoming EP.
‘Muistoa kunnioittaen’ is MKL’s 30th birthday song.
It gathers in all the waves of the band’s music over the decades, from ’90s death metal to newer rock and folk influences.
‘Muistoa kunnioittaen’ is the first metal song since Valo album (2019), and it’s also the first recorded song with Pasi Löfgren on bass and second vocals.
‘Suruaika 1993 – 2023 Anniversary’ EP contains four songs, including a Spanish version
of one of MKL’s most famous works ‘Morfiinisiivet’, originally released in 2007.
The EP will be released on March 24th by Inverse Records.
The band be a part of the Deep Waters & Dark Skies Tour 2023 in Finland with Swedish Wormwood and Finnish dark metal band Kuoleman Galleria.

The year is 2022 and Mustan Kuun Lapset’s debut album, Suruntuoja, is turning 20 years old.
To celebrate it the band decided to release the album as a re-mastered version with bonus tracks and a background story of the album written by music journalist Natalie Humphries from UK.
As bonus tracks there are two live tracks from 2016 and three original cassette demo tracks
recorded before the album release in 2000.
The whole album and the bonus tracks are re-mastered by Teemu Liekkala.
The album is also wrapped with new artwork and available as limited CD pressing and also first time on digital music services.
