Finnish metal band Northvoid has released EP ‘Ember Remains‘ on April 25th 2025 via Inverse Records.
Northvoid’s EP ‘Ember Remains‘ is a set of five songs.
It follows the singles ‘Wilderness‘ and ‘Entrusted‘ released in spring 2025.
The ‘Ember Remains’ EP continues the natural progression and presents a darker and heavier landscape that Northvoid paints with their music.
After the debut EP released in 2022 and the three independent single releases that followed, the band takes another step towards the musical style that it has strived for throughout its existence.
The core of the EP is formed around a foundation created by heavy guitars and bass and drums.
The whole is united by a vocals that moves more and more towards a traditional death metal style.
The album’s entirety is supported by a soundscape playing in the background, created with keyboards, depicting northern melancholy.
Overall, the EP gives a picture of the band’s development and presents the band’s current style and gives guidelines for the future.

Finnish metal band Northvoid is set to release new EP ‘Ember Remains‘ on April 25th 2025 via Inverse Records.
The second single ‘Entrusted‘ has been released together with a music video.
‘Entrusted‘ takes the listener to the depths of the mind, driven by heavy riffs and deep-rooted vocals.
It is the slowest and heaviest song in the band’s output so far.
The band’s guitarist and composer Markus Heikkinen says the following about the song:
“’Entrusted’ is the band’s most melancholic, even oppressive song to date. Despite its anxiety, the song has become an important part of the band’s story.”
The band’s drummer and lyricist Timo Korkalainen continues:
“I see that the lyrics of the song have different meanings, depending on the listener. They can describe men who, without speaking to each other, watch an autumn campfire somewhere in the woods. The lyrics also have a melancholic side, which I think fits well with the heavy guitar sound of the song.”
Earlier on Northvoid has already released the first single ‘Wilderness‘, which aims to transport the listener to the quiet, wilderness-like landscape.
“The lyrics of the single ‘Wilderness’ are related to the wilderness and landscape of Eastern Finland. We also find a source for our music from these hidden places in the forests,”
the band states.
“’The wilderness’ is an endless source of inspiration, which we bring out with metallic verses,”
continues the band’s drummer and lyricist Timo Korkalainen.
The first version of ‘Wilderness‘ was completed in the summer of 2022.
The song was played in rehearsals and took its final form after several rounds of arrangements.
According to the band’s guitarist and composer Markus Heikkinen:
“’Wilderness’ is a great example of mixing different genres into our style of music. We start with a faster and more intense tempo and visit the surroundings of a black metal. The middle section takes on a slightly calmer, painterly atmosphere, before returning to the pace of the beginning. The keyboards emphasize the atmosphere throughout the song, gluing it together as a whole.”
Forged in North Karelia in January 2020, Northvoid delivers a musical assault rooted in the melodic death metal of the 90’s.
“With a bond forged in childhood, our members now channel the raw, untamed energy of the past & present into every note. Our music is a fusion of melodic heaviness and groove, inspired by the harsh environment and wilderness of the north.
