Released on February 13, 2026, Ian Highhill’s third full-length album arrives as a resolute statement of intent.
An independent release steeped in the spirit of traditional hard rock and heavy metal, and firmly rooted in the sound and soul of the early ’80s.
It’s a record that doesn’t chase trends but instead channels the essence of a golden era, where haunting melodies, doomy riffs, and raw authenticity defined the genre.
For Highhill, this release is not a reinvention, but a continuation of a lifelong mission.
Born amid the cold forests and frozen lakes of Finland, he has spent decades embodying the ethos of classic metal – leather, spikes, and a deep reverence for the ‘Old Metal Testament‘.
As a singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer, his work carries the unmistakable imprint of influences like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, as well as the broader legacy of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
His journey began in the early 1980s and has since spanned multiple bands and projects.
With Olympos Mons, he secured his first record deal in 2004, releasing ‘Conquistador‘ and ‘Medievil‘ before the band’s dissolution in 2010.
He later co-founded Astralion, further expanding his creative reach with two albums that blended melodic power metal with classic influences.
Highhill’s solo career began in earnest with ‘Man in White‘ (2021), a debut that quickly gained traction, earning strong reviews and tens of thousands of streams within its first months.
Critics praised its ‘Dio-era Sabbath‘ atmosphere, highlighting the Iommi-inspired riffing and its balance between heaviness and accessibility.
That momentum carried into ‘Gallows‘ (2024), a record that further solidified his reputation as a torchbearer for classic metal traditions.
Now, with his latest album, Highhill refines that identity even further.
Entirely self-produced – from recording to mixing – the record embraces a deliberately vintage approach, both in sound and spirit.
It’s designed not as a collection of isolated tracks, but as a cohesive listening experience, echoing a time when albums were meant to be played front to back.
Across more than four decades in music, Ian Highhill has remained unwavering in his vision.
While the industry has shifted around him, his commitment to melody, atmosphere, and honest musicianship has never faltered.
In an era often defined by polish and precision, this new release stands as something different:
raw, deliberate, and deeply connected to the roots of heavy metal.
For fans of classic hard rock and traditional metal, it’s more than just another album.
It’s a reminder of why the genre endures.
