On December 16, the Spanish label Violence In The Veins will issue the first-ever vinyl edition of Hecatoncheir’s debut album, ‘Nightmare Utopia‘.
Originally released last year exclusively on CD through Total Dissonance Worship, the record quickly caused a stir in the underground – its intense negativity and unhinged sonic violence carving directly across the razor-thin boundary between sanity and madness.
The Slovakian trio’s debut showcased a suffocating command of dissonance, weaving together crushing death metal, bleak black metal, and swamp-like sludge into a sound as oppressive as it is hypnotic.
Across the album, Hecatoncheir balance ominous, ritualistic atmospheres with moments of unnerving stillness, building a world where every silence feels as threatening as every blast of noise.
It is, in short, fertile ground for dream cults, ancient gods, and the kind of cosmic horror that ‘Nightmare Utopia‘ seems determined to drag its listeners into headfirst.
Explaining their decision to bring the album to vinyl for the first time, Violence In The Veins offered a simple but pointed statement:
“The worldwide underground scene never ceases to amaze us with extraordinary works. Hecatoncheir’s first opus unquestionably deserved to have its terrors preserved on vinyl.”
