Finnish melodic heavy metal band Ikirouta had released touching single ‘Kaipaus‘.
The author of the song, guitarist-keyboardist Teemu Kuosmanen tells:
“‘Kaipaus’ was born out of the pain of relinquishment and loss. There was a situation in life in which the passing away came unexpectedly, but in a way without surprise. It is impossible to prepare for such situations beforehand and ‘Kaipaus’ is about a process of handling with one’s own feelings and going through grief. When someone who has been more or less present in our lives for decades leaves us, it is bound to make us reflect on the limitations of life. And when no one in this band is a youngster anymore, these situations do touch us all. Fortunately, what remains are memories – and longing.”
Ikirouta is a Finnish melodic metal band from the city of Kajaani, founded in winter 2020.
The band has a loyal and, considering the size of the band, large fan base all over Finland and the band is an active social media user, for example by keeping Facebook videos of their practice sessions.
Ikirouta’s music can be found on all major digital music platforms.
On Spotify the band has been listened to well over 1.5 million times.

The latest song ‘Kaipaus‘, released on March the 14th, 2025, is already the band’s 20th single release.
With the released songs, gigging and social media, the name and awareness have spread all over Finland and the venues have been pretty much sold out.
The band will continue to go single by single and try to conquer new territories both through new music and by touring as hard as possible.

Finnish melodic metal band Ikirouta has released a new song ‘Uusi päivä‘ (A New Day).
This is the 19th single by this Kajaani-based band.
On this tight song the band cut to the chase immediately and the first chorus strikes in after half a minute.
Guitarist and composer Teemu Kuosmanen tells about the song:
“‘Uusi päivä’ is something quite different from our band but it still got the familiar Ikirouta-sound. We wanted to try some new stuff and we used some synth-bass, electric drum fills and mixed in a little bit of disco metal twist. Really big thanks to Janne Tolsa about the soundscape. Especially on the chorus got some traditional Finnish pop touch. And the length – I have never before written a song this short. It’s actually quite a challenge to push all the important elements into a three minute song. We are really excited to see how people will react to this!”
Ikirouta is a hard working live band playing constantly all around Finland.
The band is also active organizing popular Facebook – live streams from their rehearsals that have had over 10.000 viewers on most popular streams.
