ZERO ONE are a highly accomplished Edinburgh-based metalcore quintet that deftly merge monolithic bone-crushing riffery with elegant clean passages.
The emerging heavyweights have both the diversity and guile to break through to the upper echelons of the UK scene.
Armed with the release of their sophomore EP, ‘Faults In My Design’, which lands on Friday 31st May, and backed by the formidable new single and video, ‘These Visions’, out Friday 15th March, ZERO ONE’s rise is imminent.
Originally born in 2019 and initially comprised of blood brothers David and Ross Cole (vocals and guitar, respectively) and close friend Dylan Thomson on drums, ZERO ONE began to hunt for the right style and sound, dropping their debut EP, ‘Empty’, in 2021.
The record expressed a strong promise, but the band knew much more was to come.
Their stand-alone singles, ‘Censor’, ‘Balance’ and ‘Encrypted’, followed, marking a shift for the rising riff merchants;
the tracks were more experimental, distinct and conveyed a clear signature and direction.
ZERO ONE have also greatly developed their live set, sharpened by support shows with everyone from Ithaca, Pupil Slicer and Rituals to Polar.
Recruiting long-term friends, Corey Crawford (guitar) and Ally Darling (bass) has massively enhanced their recording work and has also keenly impacted their live sound.
A growing following is now amassing in Scotland and the rampant five-piece plan to attack England and Wales this year with a barrage of dates.
The band are now primed for the release of their explosive new EP, ‘Faults In My Design’, working once more with Kieran Smith (To Kill Achilles).
Dylan Thomson (drums) and Ross Cole (guitar) remark:
“The record largely deals with the topic of mental health, drawing from some of our personal experiences to translate those feelings into something positive. Creating this EP allowed us to push our creative boundaries, refine our songwriting, and have fun doing it.”
The hotly-tipped metalcorers are lining up festivals and live shows throughout 2024;
stay tuned to the band’s social sites for updates.
