VIRTUAL PERISH
will release single
‘Vortex’
The second single from Virtual Perish’s upcoming album ‘Infernal’ is titled ‘Vortex’.
This song takes the greek legend of Scylla and Charybdis from the Odyssey and uses it as an allegory about depression…
“You have a captain of a ship trying to push through these two monsters, the monsters representing the darkness of the world, as well as the darkness within yourself. You’re sailing to ‘the edge’, what was originally believed to be the edge of the world, but an allegory for death by natural causes. The concept of suicide is contemplated, avoiding the darkness, skipping to the end and not succumbing to the death from the 2 monsters.”
Penumbra Child graces with her vocals again in the chorus, adding the somber tone this song’s meaning deserves.
The bridge is a spoken theatric part, in 3 languages (representing the languages of the 3 cultures the band hails from), all aboard the ship with different attitudes about the situation.
An emotional performance from all members, this song closes the album out perfectly.
Founded in 2020 as side project by Dennis Wiethaus and Aurelio Rami to combine their two solo projects ‘FragileChild’ and ‘Aura’.
They sang about personal problems but also about issues that are relevant to anyone, like the at the time current corona crisis.
After their first EP ‘The Outbreak’ was released, Dennis left the project as a band member and Aurelio decided to make ‘Virtual Perish’ his main project and close ‘Aura’ off.
Dennis still appears as a featured artist.
In June 2021, William Warden from Kotharsis joined ‘Virtual Perish’ to complement the project as second vocalist and in 2022, Penumbra Child was added to the lineup to contribute her angelic voice.
As of now Virtual Perish has released three EPs, one full length album and numerous singles, including several remixes for artists such as ‘FragileChild’ or ‘Céleste Noir’.
