The Metal Byrds, a female-fronted four-piece rock band from Houston, Texas, have just released their third album, ‘Lights Out‘, continuing their energetic blend of classic rock attitude and catchy power-pop hooks.
The band first came together in 2019 after a chance meeting between vocalist Suzanne Birdie and guitarist Sly Rye.
What began as a spontaneous collaboration quickly developed into a full band project, and within only a couple of years The Metal Byrds were already gaining traction with radio airplay and playlist placements across the globe.
At the heart of the group’s sound lies a mix of driving rock intensity and melodic accessibility.
Powerful guitar riffs and rhythmic grooves form the backbone of their songs, while Suzanne Birdie’s distinctive voice carries the melodies with a punchy power-pop edge.
Her London roots and expressive vocal style complement Sly Rye’s energetic guitar work, creating a dynamic that defines the band’s sound from the first note to the final chorus.
Operating as an independent and currently unsigned band, The Metal Byrds proudly represent the spirit of DIY rock ’n’ roll coming out of Houston’s music scene.
Their music draws heavily on the spirit of classic rock while keeping the energy modern and immediate.
There is also a clear sense of nostalgia running through their sound.
The band channels the era when strong female frontwomen dominated rock radio, echoing the influence of artists like Pat Benatar, Blondie and Joan Jett.
At the same time, their music carries the swagger and attitude of the classic rock and hair-metal years, when big riffs, big choruses and unapologetic rock ’n’ roll ruled the airwaves.
With ‘Lights Out‘, The Metal Byrds continue to build on that foundation, delivering a set of catchy, guitar-driven songs that celebrate the timeless energy of rock while pushing the band further into their own distinctive territory.
