Coventhrall shoots the toughest space adventure of the year for all friends of Sci-fi and flamboyant metal music.
Debut album ‘Legacy Of Morfuidra’ leads listeners towards far away galaxies and folds of space and time.
The music itself is solid power metal resembling such bands as Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray.
“The villains of the story: Space pirates aka Scavens invade the peaceful planet and solar system of Morfuidra in order to enslave the people and to steal technology and artifacts most sought after in the entire galaxy. The Elders ‘Morfuidran government’ refuse to give up and choose a young man ‘the hero of the story’ to bear the artifacts and fearsome weapons of times long forgotten, to become their Avatar and send him out on a quest to seek help from the Galactic Emperor and the famous mercenary force Nova Burst. Also, the Emperor’s daughter Princess Celeste joins in the quest to fight for the freedom of Morfuidra.”
Coventhrall was formed 2005 by the vocalist Sami Ilvonen and guitarist Toni Bite.
They asked the bass player Jukka Hoffrèn and drummer Janne Ojala to join in the band.
One year later The EP ‘Vision Weaver’ was released and it got a warm reception in medias with honest and candid approach to the world of heavy metal.
The band was known as Grudge’s Claw back then.
After a short creative break the band started the process of creating their debut album and changed their name to the current Coventhrall.
The narrator and creator of the story is the vocalist Sami Ilvonen and the music is composed and produced by Toni Bite and Jukka Hoffrèn.
The album was recorded and ready for release years ago, but was mystically lost by unknown reason to the earth orbit amongst other space debris.
Luckily by some miracle it was rediscovered and finally it has been released.
Guitar solos are played by Kimmo Korhonen (ex-Waltari).
Additionally, there are numerous artists in their own roles as vocalists and keyboard solos.
The cover booklet included with the album contains comics in addition to the lyrics and cover artwork for the listener to follow the story allowing them to utilize their visual perception whilst emerging themselves in the sound.
All visual artworks have been drawn by Venezuelan graphic and artist Mario Lopez.

‘Victory’ is the fourth single and the last song of Coventhrall’s upcoming space opera album ‘Legacy of Morfuidra’.
The song is almost six minutes long epic and versatile opus which is divided into two parts.
The mood is melancholic in the first half of the song when the lead vocalist Sami Ilvonen expresses the wistful atmosphere after the battle.
The latter half gives the song and the whole album the finish line it deserves when it’s time to celebrate the victory achieved.
The creator of the story and the vocalist Sami ‘Texas’ Ilvonen describes the feelings of the song:
“The battle has been won and the Scavens have been evicted back into space, but the losses are considerable and many good friends have fallen. The feelings are contradictory like always in wars and battles. On the other hand, we are happy about the victory and the freedom of Morfuidra, but the memory of the fallen will be mourned for a long time.”
There are a several featuring artists in the song like Tuomas Nieminen, Tanja Kemppainen and Aleksi Parviainen along with keyboard solo by Risto Kupiainen.
The song and the whole album ends with an impressive choir part by Petteri Lehikoinen, Juhani Muhonen, Mikko P. Mustonen, Leeni-Maria Hovila and Johanna Lesonen.
Composer Jukka Hoffrén tells about the song:
“The basics of the song had been composed sometime in the late nineties, but was archived deep into the desk drawer just waiting for the right use. One can hear the influence of King Diamond and Judas Priest in vocal melodies and harmonies. The idea of the last choir part came out in the studio when we discussed the solution how we would get the sound of Morfuidra’s people to be heard in the praise to the Avatar, the Emperor and the other warriors.”
This single and upcoming album ‘Legacy Of Morfuidra’ is released through Inverse Records.

the singer and lyricist Sami Ilvonen:

If you’re alone in space and see something strange out there? And if you happen to be in trouble hoping to survive and save yourself, who you gonna call? Nova Burst, the most toughest of all!”

Guitar player Toni Bite looks back the project with all these singers:
“It was awesome to have so many great singers and friends to feature in this song and on the whole album. The days in the studio were fantastic when such good singers came in and out. They just sang their parts, and it sounded so good! I was pretty amazed and felt like the luckiest guy in the world. We had a great time, and we laughed a lot. Good days and good memories.”

‘Avatar’
composed by Jukka Hoffrén, Toni Bite, Janne Ojala
lyrics by Sami Ilvonen
Coventhrall published their first single ‘Dreadnought’ a month ago and continues the story with the next episode.
The song titled ‘Avatar’ introduces its namesake hero of the concept album Legacy of Morfuidra.
Tuomas Nieminen, known as the lead singer of Adamantra interprets the character of ‘Avatar’ with dedication in the verses and blasts away the choruses as duets with Sami Ilvonen.
Narrator of the story Sami Ilvonen describes the role of Avatar:
“Avatar is but a youngster when he is chosen for the perilous mission to breach the Scaven blockade. The Coven enables the Avatar to use the ancient technology and tools as well as manifest the willpower of the Morfuidran people. They send the fearless young man on the adventure of his lifetime.”
Tuomas Nieminen as the role of Avatar: vocals
Bass player Jukka Hoffrén comments on the choice of Tuomas Nieminen to the role of Avatar:
“It was clear from the start that this role required an impressive sounding heroic tenor. The capabilities of Tuomas as a great interpreter immersing in any role was already familiar over the span of several years and made me suggest him as the first choice for this role.”
This song as well as the former release is melodic and strong double bass drum drive makes it the first choice for all power metal fans.
The song took the final form after the drums were already recorded.
Guitar player Toni Bite reminisces on the long days back at the studio:
“The drum tracks had been recorded by Janne Ojala and we were recording bass and guitars for the song with Jukka Hoffrén when the original chorus started to feel a bit off. We decided to quit recording for the day and went to the sauna to think about the next move. After a good set of hot and sweaty steams Jukka picked up a guitar and came up with a new chorus on the spot. It sounded great and ended up on the track.”
This single and upcoming album ‘Legacy Of Morfuidra’ are published through Inverse Records.

‘Dreadnought’
Composed by Jukka Hoffrén
Lyrics by Sami Ilvonen
Coventhrall are:
Sami “Texas” Ilvonen – vocals
Toni Bite – guitars
Jukka Hoffrén – bass, keyboards, guitars
Kimmo Korhonen – guitars
Janne Ojala – drums
Coventhrall is finally publishing its flamboyant sci-fi themed album ‘Legacy Of Morfuirda’.
Opening single is the second track of the album, ‘Dreadnought’ which introduces the villains of the story and their large battleship.
The creator of the story and the vocalist Sami “Texas” Ilvonen describes the song as follows:
“Dreadnought is a huge, bulky old mothership manned by space pirates and scavenging galactic riffraff. The pirates target defenceless victims in the galaxy’s more remote space lanes and solar systems outside the reach of the galactic Emperor and the law. In this second track of the album the scavengers arrive in the Morfuidran solar system piloting the Dreadnought. They aim to enslave peaceful people and strip mine their planet Morfuidra of all their resources and ancient technology.”
The track also features Jari Pailamo in keyboard solo.
Jukka Hoffrén, also known from Adamantra and Amberian Dawn looks back on the creation of the song:
“I composed the song with the acoustic guitar sometime in the middle of the nineties at my summer cabin. Both albums, Imaginations From The Other Side by Blind Guardian and Land Of The Free by Gamma Ray had just come out and I copied them from my friend to a c-cassette, which I blasted on my walkman. One can clearly hear the influence from those albums in the melodies of the song. Some Unanimated, Forbidden and At The Gates like-a-riffs can be heard as well. The song got rejected by a couple of my bands over the years until finally Mr. Bite and Mr. Texas were taken in by the song enough to definitely want it in the upcoming Coventhrall album.”
This single and upcoming album ‘Legacy Of Morfuidra’ are released through Inverse Records.
