The critically acclaimed French progressive metalcore band Novelists has released the fourth new single ‘Okapi’.
Known for their intricate compositions and profound lyrical themes, Novelists continue to push the boundaries of the genre with this emotionally charged and sonically heavy track.
‘Okapi’ is a testimony to the band’s evolution and resilience.
Written during a tumultuous period of personal upheavals—ranging from city moves and family losses to break-ups – the track emerges as an emotional exploration of pain, perseverance, and the strength found in unity.
The lyrics of ‘Okapi’ resonate with those who have felt isolated and overwhelmed, yet striving for a sense of hope.
Novelists:
“‘OKAPI’ was written throughout 2023 and the beginning of 2024; it is a very important song for us as a band and as individuals as it was written through a lot of changes and doubts happening in each of our lives. From moving to a different city to break-ups, death, and sickness in our families, etc. A lot has happened in our personal lives in only a few months. And for those reasons, it took us longer to finish the song than we originally anticipated, but now reflecting on it, I am happy we took the time we needed; the song only ended up even better and more meaningful.”

The path to reinvention often emerges from the ashes of adversity.
For the French progressive metalcore juggernaut Novelists, losing their lead singer was a pivotal moment that could have spelled the end.
But in the face of uncertainty, they found Camille, a vocalist with exceptional prowess who not only saved the band but reignited their creative fire.
When parting ways with their former vocalist, Tobi, Novelists faced a daunting challenge.
They had a treasure trove of songs but lacked the voice to bring them to life.
Thoughts of disbandment loomed large.
Camille’s arrival felt like a miracle, infusing the band with a vitality reminiscent of their early days.
“Camille was the unexpected lifeline we desperately needed,”
shares the band.
“Her talent and energy revived Novelists at a time when we were at our lowest. It’s unbelievable how the right person crossed our path when we needed it most. We are thrilled to introduce the new and definitive iteration of Novelists and are immensely proud of the music we’ve crafted together, representing the very best of our journey.”
Novelists will debut their rejuvenated sound with a brand-new single titled ‘Turn It Up’, set for release on September 13, along with an accompanying video.
This marks Camille’s first appearance as their vocalist.
Camille’s arrival has not only saved the band but has propelled them to new heights, promising an exciting future for Novelists.
Novelists’ resilience and evolution underscore the band’s commitment to pushing boundaries and crafting music that resonates deeply with their fans.
The band will later embark on a headlining tour across France in November and December, showcasing their current album and revitalized lineup.
Additionally, they will announce a European headlining tour in February later this month, with support from The Word Alive.
Stay tuned for tour details, including dates and venues, to be announced soon.
