Full House Brew Crew- Vangelis Karzis:
“We’re reinventing the wheel but we true to ourselves”
Everybody knows them, they don’t need special introductions, but even if there is someone who has missed these so talented artists, who are full of appetite, passion and creativity for music, that’s why we are here to introduce them to you.
The band Full House Brew Crew is a groove metal/heavy metal band, hailing from Athens, Greece and was born in 2009.
The frontman on guitar and voice of the band is Vangelis Karzis (ex bassist of the black metal legends Rotting Christ) and also main member of the band Wolfheart with his iron and unyielding voice.
Each member of the band is unique in his kind possessing enormous experience, as they all are special artists.
The band has in its potential a great amount of live performances in Greece as well as in many European countries.
Their exciting albums such as ‘Bet it All’, ‘Me Against’, ‘Bare Knuckle’, ‘Snake Eyes’ have all get the best reviews from music critics and fan as well.
Their influences range from selections, such as Pantera, Black Label Society and Metallica.
So, let’s introduce you to the other precious guys of the band:
Spiros Dafalias – Bass,
George Tzatzakis – Guitars,
Alex Keito – Drums.
They have also shared the stage with huge bands such as Spiritual Beggars, Corrosion Of Conformity, Planet Οf Zeus, Sober on Tuxedos, Nightstalker and many others.
Vangelis Karzis, the leader of Full House Brew Crew talked to radio highway pirates about the known group, about their album ‘Bare Knuckle’, their cooperations, their next plans and everything you WANT TO KNOW!!
Where did you come up with the band name ‘Full House Brew Crew’ and why?
“This goes back to 2009. I had some songs in the works and I was searching for a name. We were playing a lot of poker back then and one day I was wining with Full House almost every time. The bass player, I had back then, was like ‘hey you have to name the band Full House’ and I was like ‘that sounds great’. I was working on a beer factory and consuming a lot of beers back in the days, so ‘Brew Crew’ was the final touch.”
How did your magical journey in music begin?
“I’m 15 years old and I was studying with a buddy of mine. He was really deep into metal. I wasn’t haha, he was putting on some Metallica tunes and soon I got glued to this music.”
How was the ‘Bare Knuckle’ inspired and what contributed to its creation?
“My entire agenda lyric wise goes around positive thinking, working a lot, never giving up. But I’m also a huge strength and fighting fan. Ι have huge respect for people who fight with one of the most primitive and honor ways, ‘Bare Knuckle’ fighting. So that was the combination of two.”
Do you think, that you have ‘Bet It All’ in your career?
“Yeah most definitely. I try to live on that quote.”
Could you tell us three powerful songs both for you and for your fans?
“‘Hollow God’, ‘No one’s safe’, ‘Servant of despair'”
What is it like sharing the same stage with Spiritual Beggars?
“To be honest it does nothing to me. I felt very honored though. I’m not a fanboy so I try to learn from their professionalism and quality. Great band, good guys!”
What do you think has been the best collaboration in your career so far?
“I’d say it’s been Wolfheart. One with Jesse Leach from Killswitch. Engage, we did the song ‘Ancestor’ and the song ‘The King’ where I do some singing.”
It is said, that the band΄s strongest point, is it’s live performances, what do you say about that?
“We put everything on the show. We are bringing on stage what the album is missing, the human factor and the interaction with the audience.”
What kind of effect does the band’s breath and music have on the world?
“We’re reinventing the wheel but we are true to ourselves. Most bands trying to show off or fake a persona. We give to people some strong ballsy powerful headbanging music.”
Tell us a few words about the album ‘Me Αgainst Υou’.
“I’m so proud for this album. This was the first album with our label ‘ROAR’. I remember working a couple of years for this one. I was trying to elevate all aspects of the band but mostly the songwriting.”
Which of your songs do you think received rave reviews and was liked more generally?
“I’d say the first single from the ‘Bare Knuckle’ album ‘Black Flag’.”
Which artists or bands is a lifelong dream to work with both live and in the studio?
“I never think that way. I don’t really care about working with anybody but would be fan. Haven’t thought about it.”
Tell us a few words about the band Wolfheart, in which you are also the lead guitar.
“It’s a band, I’ve been a member since 2019. We did two albums already and one EP. We are currently working on the new album.”
Would you like to add or tell us something more about yourself and Full House Brew Crew and your upcoming and future plans?
“We are having a show in Cyprus for the very first time and we’re currently booking shows for central Europe! The new album almoust done and it’s gonna be out in may!”…Maria Stella Tsatsi
