The new album, ‘All In‘, follows its predecessor, showcasing brilliant songwriting and composition while focusing on choruses, scratchy guitar riffs, breathtaking solos, and slick keyboards.
A powerful rhythm section with pounding drums and solid bass, (courtesy of new member, Simon Dredo) help to create a collection of songs that simply defines melodic hard rock.
Produced by Davide ‘Dave Rox‘ Barbieri, the album was recorded at Pristudio (Bologna – Italy) under the guidance of renowned Italian sound engineer, Roberto Priori (Danger Zone, Raintimes, StreetLore, Night Pleasure Hotel).
The CD booklet features introductory liner notes written by Martin Stark (Rock It! Magazine), while artwork and graphics have been designed by Aeglos Art (Raintimes, Nightblaze, Platens, Night Pleasure Hotel, StreetLore, and many others).
As teasers for this fourth album Wheels Of Fire had already released the singles ‘Fool’s Paradise‘, ‘99 Lies‘ and ‘Invisible‘.
Singer Davide ‘Dave Rox‘ Barbieri comments on ‘Fool’s Paradise‘:
“The video tells the different phases of our perception of today’s reality, through deception and illusion, then going through disenchantment, awakening and the inevitable final disappointment. The song is a criticism of the distorted reality that is served to us on a daily basis, and the protagonist is our ‘fool’; the fool who deludes himself thinking he can live in Paradise by turning to a fortune teller to confirm the idea he has built of his own destiny. Sadly, the fact that he is blinded by his illusions makes his own deception easier, until he is abruptly awakened by his conscience. Then, he finally decides to open his eyes and see things for what they are.”
Davide ‘Dave Rox‘ Barbieri continues with comments on ’99 Lies’:
“The song could be seen as a hymn to people who care too much for others. When they sacrifice their wellbeing to make sure those around them feel good and protected, superficial people tend to take advantage. Good people end up lying to hide their disappointment when they say, ‘It doesn’t matter’, ‘Don’t feel bad’, or ‘It didn’t hurt me’. The pain may lead to depression, or to dangerous, self-destructive behaviour.”
And Barbieri ends with comments on ‘Invisible‘:
“’Invisible’ is a song that addresses a very delicate topic: illness. The song tries to convey the feeling of helplessness mixed with desperation that comes from facing an invisible enemy, which silently attacks us from within. The battle often seems like an impossible challenge to overcome. However, it’s important to find strength in one’s own courage and the love of your loved ones, which becomes a powerful shield and impenetrable armour. Dedicated to all those who fight and have fought against cancer.”
The video-clips for ‘Fool’s Paradise‘ and ‘99 Lies‘ were produced by Yellow Bang.
Wheels Of Fire were created in 2006 by lead singer, Davide Barbieri.
After Michele Luppi (Whitesnake) listened to some demos, their collaboration led to the release of the first album, ‘Hollywood Rocks‘ in 2010.
The album was extremely successful in Europe and South America, and reached no. 42 in well known Japanese magazine Burrn!’s ranking.
The second album, ‘Up for Anything‘, was released in November, 2012, again to critical acclaim, including excellent ratings from some of the top magazines in the music world, such as Fireworks and Classic Rock.
Seven years later, the third album, ‘Begin Again‘, was released in June, 2019.
During those seven years, the band had taken a new path, hence the name ‘Begin Again‘.
The songs leaned towards a more contemporary rock feel, incorporating modern elements in their sound, while remaining faithful to their 80’s melodic rock roots.
