Indie Rock sensation Split Second returns with their latest single, ‘Ozymandias’, an energetic and quirky track inspired by the classic poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
The band, composed of members Ava, Jack, Levi and Louiz, have crafted a unique sound that blends influences from Fleetwood Mac, Arctic Monkeys and Blondie, resulting in a vibrant and distinctive musical experience.
‘Ozymandias’ is a bold departure from Split Second’s usual style, showcasing a captivating blend of indie rock with a distinct Greek flair.
The track was inspired by the poem ‘Ozymandias’ by Percy Bysshe Shelley, which tells the tale of a tyrannical king whose empire crumbles, leaving only the ruins of his once-great kingdom.
The band cleverly intertwines this theme with their own experiences, creating a powerful narrative that resonates with listeners.
Produced by Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Studio in Wolverhampton, ‘Ozymandias’ features two versions—a full-length version running approximately four minutes and a radio edit clocking in at three minutes—both capturing the essence of Split Second’s evolving sound.

With significant support from BBC Introducing Hereford and Worcester and notable major festival appearances including HopFest, WooFest, MelloFest, along with supporting The Entitled Sons on their UK tour and being featured on This Morning as part of a fashion segment with Gok Wan, it’s clear Split Second are on the rise.
