2024 Behind My Semblance Single
Atmospheric black/doom collective Splendidula finally returns with a new single and lyric video.
‘Behind My Semblance‘ was recorded by JDB at Kosmik Womb, mixed by Tim De Gieter at Much Luv Studio (Amenra, Brutus, Doodeskader) and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (Sepultura, Mastodon, Motörhead, Fleetwood Mac, Pantera, Cannibal Corpse).
The song is also released on an exclusive limited 8” vinyl (Saturni Records), and won’t be part of the next full album.
“In a world where everyone is forced to wear a mask, we hide the shadows of our true feelings behind a façade of false normality. When asked about our well-being, we lie, fearing the uncomfortable silence that follows. This song dives into the dark reality that we often feel pressured to hide our struggles, pretending everything is okay when it’s not. For the music video, the visual artistry of Mikhail Nilov was incorporated, carefully edited to reflect the suffocating atmosphere of the lyrics. Together, they form a testament to the inner darkness we often conceal.”
Vocalist Kristien & drummer Joachim comment:
“From the depths of despair, we have relentlessly risen once more. After the sudden passing of bassist Peter in 2022, and the departure of both guitarists, we were left to face the darkness alone. With new blood and a renewed purpose, we unearthed the remains of a song born with the old lineup, and resurrected it into something darker and harrowing. This release is more than just a return—it is a reckoning, a tribute to the shadows of our past and the echoes that still haunt us. This new track forges a dark connection between our previous album and the impending new full-length, a haunting reflection of our journey through despair and rebirth.”
