Finnish progressive metal band Joviac released their third studio album ‘Autofiction Pt. 1 – Shards‘ via Inverse Records on May 16th 2025.
Viljami Jupiter Wenttola:
“It’s an amazing and slightly surreal feeling to finally have our album out. Last year things looked very uncertain, and for a while we had no idea if it would ever see the light of day, but after many trials and tribulations it’s finally here! We hope you find the time to check it out and that it enriches the lives of the people that it reaches.”
Earlier on in 2025 Joviac has released single ‘B.O.M.B.‘
Viljami Jupiter Wenttola:
“Sometimes life is tough and at times it weighs us all down. ‘B.O.M.B.’ is a reminder that you are a force to be reckoned with. We’re constantly bombarded by information and made aware about all that’s wrong with the world, but this song is a blast of positive energy, a beacon in the dark. One of my main goals as a songwriter is to explore both ends of the human emotional spectrum, or at least how I experience it. I need contrasts to stay interested and intrigued. We all go through our own journey, and even though sometimes it feels like our worlds may be swallowed up in darkness, we always have the power to turn things around and light things up, with a bang if necessary!”

‘Burn’

music & lyrics by Viljami Jupiter Wenttola
Finnish progressive metal band Joviac released the second single ‘Burn‘ taken from the forthcoming third studio album ‘Autofiction Pt. 1 – Shards‘ which is set to be released via Inverse Records on May 16th 2025.
Vocalist-guitarist Viljami Jupiter Wenttola comments:
“’Burn’ is an intensely personal song for me, and heavily inspired by my personal experiences of dealing with the mental illness of a loved one. When faced with a reality altering mental illness, one often feels like running into a brick wall. No two days are the same, and the words that seemed to get through yesterday aren’t connecting today. It leads to frustration, anger and resentment among a plethora of other feelings. Together combined the feelings become a storm that blows through, leaving inner destruction in its wake. This song is about all of the above, knowing that going against the storm is futile, but still demanding at least something for all the uninvited suffering you’ve gone through. It’s about being at the end of one’s tether and reaching the point of no return, about having to make incredibly difficult decisions even if it means collateral damage.”

Vocalist-guitarist Viljami Jupiter Wenttola comments:
“I wanted to write a catchy and unashamedly hopeful and positive song. There’s plenty of darkness out there, so when I have light and beauty in my heart, I try to let it shine through.”
‘Shine‘ is an affirmation.
It’s about reminding yourself that no matter what life throws at you, you have what it takes to make it through.
Nothing is out of reach and above all, you had everything you needed inside of you all along.
We all need help and support, but in the end they’re there to amplify and show you the light that was within you from the start.
Like the lyrics state:
“fix your gaze on any goal, the key is just do as you do.”
Finland is known as the land of metal, but so far has yet to offer the world a breakthrough progressive metal act.
Joviac has been working tirelessly since 2017 to change that.
With the singular vision of combining the compositional freedom of progressive music, the full range of human emotion, addictive hooks and crafty arrangements, the end result is a versatile and deep marriage of catchy riffs and melodies with a conceptual and thoughtful twist.
Joviac is a seasoned live band with countless shows under its belt and looking to branch out globally in a BIG way.
The band has released two albums to date with the latest full-length ‘Here And Now’ reaching the #8 spot on the official Finnish charts for physical albums…

‘Dissemination’

Composed & lyrics by Viljami Wenttola

JOVIAC are:
Viljami Jupiter Wenttola – vocals, guitar
Rudy Fabritius – drums
Johannes Leipälä – guitar
Antti Varjanne – bass
Tuomas Honkkila – keys
Finnish progressive metal band Joviac released a new single and music video ‘Dissemination’.
Since their latest single ‘The Fine Line’ the band has now expanded from trio to quintet, when Johannes Leipälä (Guitar) & Tuomas Honkkila (Keyboards) were added to the line-up earlier this summer.
Viljami Wenttola’s comments:
“When the global pandemic began and we all became familiar with the term ‘lockdown’, I noticed that it wasn’t the disease itself that was most anxiety and fear inducing for me personally, but the amount of misinformation and disinformation surrounding the disease. Fake news was rampant. People used the disease to further their at times questionable motives and armed themselves with arguments that supported only their own nefarious or ignorant ends. Suddenly everyone felt like they knew better than everyone else and trust in their ‘own research’ was stronger than in the scientific community. In many ways the pandemic brought out the darkest sides of humanity. I channelled all of my pandemic anxiety and fear into this song and the result is definitely the heaviest song that we’ve ever released. I even tried out harsh vocals/growling for the first time!”
