In a world of ever-shortening attention span, persistence is scarce.
Finland’s Egokills have been around for twelve years and are ready to present another album of high quality hard rock and metal.
Four years in the making, EGOKILLS delivers a wild mix of ingredients ranging from thrash metal on ‘Sweat’ to post rock on ‘Grey Rainbows’, grunge on ‘Feeble’ and progressive metal on ‘Dormant’.
”We have a selfish way of creating music, as we only want to please ourselves. At the same time we know we’re not the only people in the world enjoying this kind of music”,
drummer Vilho Rajala says.
The previous albums ‘Creation’ (2014) and ‘Mellowhead’ (2018) have brought Egokills on three European tours, the first one supporting Lordi in 2018.
More touring and playing festivals is the number one priority for Egokills in 2024.
The band takes pride in carrying the torch of quality rock tradition:
playing music together in the same room with real instruments and real amps.
It is exactly this approach that the band takes on stage as well.
When Egokills plays live, it relies completely on the magic of the moment.
”Every time our music is played anywhere, every time we play together, even every time we see each other is a gift. Love is at the heart of making music and we are all about amplifying that love.”
EGOKILLS album was produced by Matti Lötjönen, whose earlier work includes three albums by Huora, the latest of which hit number 1 in the Finnish official charts.
Olli Anttila worked as a vocal producer for the most part of the album and produced the song Utopia entirely.
The genre police have had a hard time with the previous Egokills albums and this hardship will continue with the third album.
”Back when we grew up, we used to expect bands to transgress and they did, too. These days people seem to expect just more of the same and everybody has to fit into a box. Egokills will never fit into a box.”

Finland’s hippie metal superstars Egokills have set the release date of their third album, simply titled ‘Egokills’, on September 8th 2023.
The band comments:
“The third bunch of great Egokills songs is finally ready! There’s darkness, there’s light and there’s the balance between. We’re super proud of the record and can’t wait to get to play the songs live.”
The album was produced by Matti Lötjönen and recorded mostly at Fantom Studio.
The vocals were produced by Olli Anttila at Astral Studio.
Egokills just finished a succesful Baltic tour with two other quality bands from Finland, Black Royal and Atlases.
“We had a blast, and it was a priviledge to share the stage with such great bands and fantastic people. We belong on stage and are determined to tour extensively to support the new album!”
New single ‘Feeble’ is online.
Mostly written by Pasi Viitala, it is a riff-driven song with a banging chorus.
Viitala also delivers a fuzzy guitar solo on the track.
Janne Selo’s lyrics tell a relatable tale about the darker moments of life.

The Finnish hippie metal superstars Egokills are back.
bigger, badder & more dangerous than ever!
The latest Egokills banger is called Life’s a Party
and it is a reminder of what life’s about in these dark times.
The song comes with a movie quality music video,
directed by the bands long-time friend Timo Lepistö.
The video portrays the band in its natural habitat,
partying around their own camper van.
Vocalist Janne Selo plays the main part.
After the video was shot the band got into some real danger.
drummer Vilho Rajala recalls:
“We were driving home with bassist Mika Pusa, when the left rear tire of our dear LoveLines Mellowmobile swung loose in a tunnel. Luckily I was able to steer the camper safely to the side and the tire didn’t hit anyone. We took a breather and called the tow truck.”
The release show of ‘Life’s a Party’ takes place
on Feb 3rd at Hönö Live Music Bar in Tampere, Finland.
During the three-year gig break the band is born again
in the rehearsal place
and will play the best show of their career up to now.
