Darrel Baird 2024 extracts Noise 11:
“Joe La Truite’s live show slapped me in the face and I found myself head banging like a teenager. And that just doesn’t happen anymore. Two years later they sent me their new songs. I signed them almost immediately.”
Rock Made in France:
“The rock of these southerners is a real favourite. But then again, clothes don’t make the man. Don’t let the band’s name fool you. JLT hides its game well”
Aux Portes du Metal (‘Trapped In The Cosmos’):
“This album is an energy factory. It exudes a totally infectious and refreshing joie de vivre. It would be a real shame to miss out on this album, which will make you want to jump around with a big smile on your lips and a furious zest for life.”
W-Fenec (‘Trapped In The Cosmos’):
“It’s quite unexpected, but the result is more than worth the detour.”
Pavillon 666 (‘Trapped In The Cosmos’):
“Don’t look up the name on Wikipedia, there’s nothing there at the moment. But that could change. For a 1st album, this band has some rare and numerous qualities.”
Discover me (‘Trapped In The Cosmos’):
”Let’s be clear: JLT aren’t here to string pearls, but to send you some greasy sound to oil your pipes. Nevertheless, their tracks are rich in wide-ranging influences and spill over beyond the advertised pure metal/punk.”
Pipoulem – Concert and Co (Live review 2021 – La Salle Gueule, Marseille):
“The three acolytes seem to like to joke, but when they play, they’re not kidding. In fact, from my first listen on their bandcamp I was hooked, and live it’s the same thing. You don’t know which way they’re going to take you. Lots of variation in mood, rhythm and melody. A touch of madness between Mike Patton from Faith No More and System of a Down. Wrenching screams and, in the middle, magical tracks with prog metal passages like ‘Cosmo Doom’. In short, there’s never a dull moment. Even if I think they can still improve their vocal placement. I’ve found my favorite band this year.”

Joe La Truite’s sound is pure Zguen source code energy.
Impulsive, ultra-efficient, Psychedelic Punk-Metal music.
Joe La Truite’s ‘Bad Death City’ shows a significant growth in writing skills and musicianship from their previously under exploited debut album ‘Trapped In The Cosmos’ (2020).
All three band members have played a part in the writing and arrangement process, Julien Liphard (Guitar/Vocals), Charles Roussel (Bass Guitar/Vocals) and Martin Denquin (Drums) have produced 13 new tracks ready to present to the world in 2025.
Leading with the first of three Video Audio singles, Bad Death City by Joe La Truite is a complex progressive song leading with a fun WTF punk’d up lyrical intro that instantly jumps across to guitar driven Zguen metal energy and builds progressively into a Psychedelic Heavy Metal finish.
The video portrays deranged characters and gives an insightful look into their minds as to why these three, originating somewhere near Marseille, founded the name Joe La Truite.
A lot has been happening in the background for this band picking up international management with Blue Tongue Management and Full Zguen Records with the band also proud to announce French PR Association, Sounds Like Hell Agency jumping on board to support Joe La Truite’s new music releases in their home country.
‘Bad Death City‘ launched to the public on March 1st 2025 with live performances in the band’s stomping grounds of Marseille and Aix En Provence in March.
The second Video Single ‘Light Speed’ is locked for release in on April 14th 2025 and the album ‘Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 : Full Zguen’ in-store June 1st 2025.
The album is created as a concept gaming experience based around Zguen Energy.
Joe La Truite are also expanding further into Europe through Vienna’s Rola Music coming on board 13th March 2025 representing the band in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark in-line with the second single media launch ‘Light Speed’ due out 14th April 2025.
Somewhere near MARSEILLE Joe La Truite set out pre pandemic as a fun music adventure created by Julien Liphard, Charles Roussel and Martin Denquin.
The origin of the band’s name Joe La Truite is no more than a pretext to their song-writing that allows this trio total freedom in the direction and the mood of each song.
After releasing 2 EPs in 2017 and 2019 respectively, Joe La Truite’s recorded and released their debut album ‘Trapped In The Cosmos‘ in 2020.
An introspective descent tinged with humour, violence, illusions, and questioning…
‘Trapped In The Cosmos‘, as with the band was not exploited outside of the South of France, however the album received great reviews and critique in the media that did attain copies.
This album created metal energy that related to both media and music fans.
The feedback and solid reviews pathed the way for the band to take the trio seriously and though the members had other projects, Joe La Truite became the focus for writing new songs.
In 2022 the band met an Australian at a gig at the Mi6 club in Aix En Provence.
It turned out he was the ex-manager of Australian Hall Of Famers, The Angels and he suggested the band expanded their touring and asked the band to stay in touch.
And they did just that.
Live music fans absorbed the bands ‘Cosmic’ energy which emanated from the stage and in particular the new songs caused heavy audience reaction.
The songs caused such lively reactions, the term ‘Zguen Bangers’ evolved from the fans picking up on the bands previous 2017 song ‘Zguen Around’ which related to the psychedelic cosmic energy that causes head-banging, ‘Zguen’ and it stuck.
Julien Liphard built dBd Studio’s in La Barben in the south of France and the band recorded 13 new songs.
Once the album was produced and mastered the first person Joe La Truite sent the music to was the Australian they met 2 years before.
Joe La Truite were signed to a management deal with Blue Tongue Management in October 2024.
Since then the band has picked up representation for the 2025 new music release with SLH Agency in Lyon and representation in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark for touring and PR with Rola Music based in Vienna.
