VARDIS will releaze on the 26th of November 2021 their live-album ‘100 M.P.H. @ 100 Club’

VARDIS were forged out of Glam, Punk, Heavy Metal, Blues and Rock´nRoll in the crucible of 1970s northern England. They are a product of Rock music across three generations: inspired by the great Rock´nRollers and electric bluesmen of the 50s and 60s, learning their
craft on the Hard Rock and Punk circuits in the 70s, before signing with Logo/RCA in 1979
and achieving prominence in the 80s as part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Their
ferocious musical attack directly influenced the development of thrash and speed metal
across North America and Europe, cited by metal giants such as Metallica and Megadeth.
Never losing sight of the melodic sensibilities of their earliest influences, Vardis’ unique
heavy groove has endured as truly original.
In 1980 they released the entirely live, classic debut album ‚100 M.P.H.’ that famously
”GUARANTEED NO OVERDUBS”, before hitting the road in a brutal touring schedule.
Kicking off with the infamous Heavy Metal Barn Dance alongside Motörhead and Saxon at
Stafford’s Bingley Hall in July, Vardis then joined Hawkwind on the 33 date Levitation Tour
before embarking on their own 100 M.P.H. tour. 1981 saw no let up, with Vardis recording a
BBC Session for Tommy Vance and releasing their first studio album, ‚The World’s Insane‘,
accompanied by a tour culminating with the legendary Heavy Metal Holocaust in Port Vale,
alongside Ozzy Osbourne and Motörhead.
Ignoring label pressure to be “more like Van Halen”, 1982 saw Zodiac placed in the world’s
top 15 guitarists by Sounds Magazine, as Vardis embarked on a UK Tour with Slade and a
headline European Tour supporting third album ‚Quo Vardis‘. ‚Quo Vardis’ pushed the
boundaries of heavy music, with saxophone, bagpipes and mandolins alongside
collaborations with Squeeze pianist Jools Holland and Status Quo’s Andy Brown. This led to
mixed reviews from the conservative Metal press, while open minded journalists and DJs led
by John Peel on BBC Radio 1 championed the band’s sense of fun and experimentation.
1983 – 1985 was an enforced hiatus for Vardis, as a two year legal battle with management
precipitated lineup changes and missed opportunities. Emerging from court victorious but
disillusioned, Vardis released the stripped down album ‚Vigilante‘ in 1986 on indie label Raw
Power, an indictment of industry use and abuse, before Steve Zodiac walked out on the
music business for good.
Nothing was heard from the band for nearly three decades, despite the release of two
compilation albums: ‚The Best Of Vardis’ (1997) and the double CD ‚The World`s Gone Mad:
The Best Of Vardis’ (2002). In 2014, Zodiac was coaxed out of retirement on social media by
the old hardcore and new fans who’d discovered the Vardis legacy. Vardis toured Europe
and released fifth album ‚Red Eye‘ in 2016 through SPV/Steamhammer, cementing one of
rock’s most unlikely comebacks. Vardis have lost none of their unpredictable edge, and 2019
witnessed a triumphant appearance at Leicester´s ‚O2 Academy’ alongside English grindcore
legends Napalm Death that surprised many, proving yet again that their special brand of
Rock’n’Roll transcends both genre and time.
Friday 13th March 2020: the true enormity of Covid19 was not apparent, but an uncanny
atmosphere was palpable everywhere. With live venues still open in England, and rockers
from all over Europe assembled on Oxford Street London, Vardis would play. For two hours,
‚100 Club’ escaped a troubled World, and the energy forged that night by Steve Zodiac
(Guitar) Joe Clancy (Drums) and Roly Bailey (Bass) with a brilliant crowd was captured for a
2021 double live album release on SPV/Steamhammer.
We present to you the Vardis live experience on record for the first time since 1980: ‚100
M.P.H.@100 Club’, “GUARANTEED NO OVERDUBS”!

THE UNITY will releaze on the 12th of November their live-album ‘The Devil You Know’

Sometimes the seemingly most surprising idea can also be the most obvious: German-Italian
melodic metal act The Unity, consisting of Gamma Ray members Henjo Richter (guitar),
Michael Ehré (drums) and bandmates Gianbattista Manenti (vocals), Stef (guitar), Jogi
Sweers (bass) and Sascha Onnen (keyboards) are set to release their first live album ‘The
Devil You Know – The Unity Live’ on Steamhammer/SPV on 12 November 2021, their very
own reaction to the lockdown, which has still not been fully lifted. “For months, music fans
were denied the most important thing in their lives: live concerts! That’s why we decided to
give our fans exactly that, The Unity live,” explains Michael Ehré, adding: “Some may feel
that it’s a little early to bring out this kind of recording after only three studio releases. But for
us, this is both a salute to our fans and a consolation to make up for the many shows that
didn’t happen.”
‘The Devil You Know – The Unity Live’ was recorded between 2017 and 2020 during tours
through Germany and a number of other European countries, at shows in small, overheated
clubs with sweat dripping from the walls, but also at big festivals such as the Masters Of
Rock in the Czech Republic and in Germany at the Karlsruhe Knockout Festival and the
Bang Your Head in Balingen. The track listing focuses on material from their albums ‘The
Unity’ (2017) and ‘Rise’ (2018), but in ‘We Don’t Need Them Here’ also includes the single
release from their third album ‘Pride’ (2020), a song which was discussed controversially at
the time of its release and was one of the highlights of their tour with Rhapsody Of Fire.
Talking of which: The Italian band was only one of several renowned groups with whom The
Unity have toured extensively. Just as unforgettable were their concert tours alongside
Sinner, Edguy and Axel Rudi Pell, where The Unity presented their outstanding skills every
night, advertising their subsequent equally acclaimed headlining tours.
Due to its numerous concerts, it comes as no surprise to experts how rapidly the group has
developed during the first four years of its existence. ‘The Devil You Know – The Unity Live’
shows excellently rehearsed musicians, bursting with enthusiasm and proving their
impressive live presence not only with their greatest hits ‘No More Lies’, ‘The Storm’, ‘Never
Forget’ and ‘The Willow Tree’, but also in direct contact with the audience, thanks in
particular to frontman Gianbattista Manenti, who has evolved into a world-class vocalist,
forming a tight unit with his technically accomplished band colleagues.
The first single release from ‘The Devil You Know – The Unity Live’ will be a live clip featuring
‘Close To Crazy’, with excerpts from The Unity’s performance at the Masters Of Rock in
Vizovice, Czech Republic, in front of an audience of 22,000 and with comedy star Sascha
Grammel and his famous puppet, the “eagle pheasant” Frederic Freiherr von Furchensumpf,
putting in a guest appearance. The latter has been a self-confessed The Unity fan for years
and frequently comes to the band’s shows. The album was mixed and mastered by Achim
Köhler, and the front cover courtesy of Felipe Machado (Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Iron
Savior) introduces The Unity’s new mascot Dave, who is honoured by the album title.
Manenti says: “There is an English saying: ‘Better the devil you know than the devil you
dont’. We think this motto perfectly describes the situation the world currently finds itself in.” Last but not least: The booklet, designed by Alexander Mertsch (Deep Purple, Saga etc.), presents an extensive photo collection with lots of live pictures and a number snapshots of fans, who will definitely like to remember the bands great shows. Looking at it this way, for
both band and fans alike, this live album is much more than simply a consolation prize!

Tracklisting:

  1. Revenge 1:21

MESENTERY are back! new album ‘Soulfucker’ out on the 11th of February 2022

MESENTERY already attracted attention in the early 2000s with their first three releases and now, after
a break of almost ten years, they announce their comeback with their new album “Soulfucker” in a
combative manner, to be released on February 11, 2022, via Dr. Music Records. Frontman and guitarist
Marcel Braun is ready to inject fresh life into the newly formed band from the Hamburg area with the
varied ten tracks and their mixture of Death Metal, Thrash as well as other Extreme Metal influences.
Between hard old-school riffs, brutal grooves and harmonious melody peaks, diabolic suspense is
built up. “Soulfucker” has been recorded at the legendary Chameleon Recording Studio Hamburg,
featuring mastermind Marcel Braun on vocals, guitar and bass and Eryc Botz on drums. Produced by
Eike O. Freese (Helloween, Alice Cooper, Heaven Shall Burn), the album is defined by anger and pain
about the misbehavior of society. This manifests itself, especially in the title theme, which is based
on the unsparing biography “Seelenficker”, where the author using the pseudonym Natascha traces
her relentless, unprettified time on drug-related prostitution and as a crystal meth addict. The album’s
lyrics are a warning and depict with full harshness and mercilessness what is going on in our sick,
self-centered and greedy society.
MESENTERY were founded in 1992 by Marcel Braun and Carsten Pickbrenner and joined shortly after
by guitarist Florian Triska, bass player Boris Stellmann and shouter Christian Busch. In the year 2000,
after three demos, the debut album “Blood Rain” was released, as well as later the EPs “Slaves” and
“Bound Windows” via Low Records. Together they played numerous shows and toured with the Chilean
Death Thrash underground cult band Undercroft. After the tragic death of bassist Boris Stellmann in
2014, the friends initially put the band on hold and devoted themselves to other projects. But over
the years, MESENTERY were not out of the bandleader’s mind and so he awoke his formation from
the icy, deep sleep two years ago. Initially, he continued developing the sound on his own and created
the new Death Metal album “Soulfucker” quite single-handedly. In the meantime, he convinced his
old bandmates Florian Triska and Carsten Pickbrenner to bring MESENTERY back on stage with a full
line-up. The ten songs of “Soulfucker” literally scream for their baptism of fire in the clubs. With the
melancholy single “The Time Before Death”, the sinister tracklist begins. Here, the Germans deal with
the transitoriness and waste of a useless human existence, characterized by blind consumption and a
non-existent meaning. The second hard-hitting and aggressive single “2025” shows a world plagued
by war, with countries that only care about their own advantage exploiting the world until they fall into
the abyss. For both singles, MESENTERY teamed up with English video artist Andy Pilkington of Very
Metal Art (Judas Priest, Onslaught, Sortout), which produced viciously direct lyric videos perfectly
reflecting the message of each song with a morbid charm. The driving and energetic track “Inevitable”
shows a world that has sealed its fate without hope of redemption. “Virtopsy”, in turn, is a critique
of our digitalized world, trying with melodic disharmonies and harsh guitars to wake up the listener
from a nightmare of total surveillance, where everyone strays naked and helpless through society.
Both songs will also be released as singles, with stunning music videos produced by Medienhaus Köln.
“Soulfucker” is a treat for underground Death Metal maniacs with its aggressive attitude, the exciting
and drastic title theme as well as socio-critical lyrics, not only instrumentally. MESENTERY definitely
are not on the scrap heap yet with this straightforward and relentless album and not only fans of bands
such as Unleashed, Carcass or Hail Of Bullets should check out this record.

memories of rage by john 510s

a few months before my official -in the papers- adulthood, a very good friend of mine, with whom we are from the same village in the country side of greece (together we have spent some 10 years of our childhood years at exotic Karpenisi) decides to come to my parents house in athens for givingme my namesday gift.
It is an album. ‘Perfect Man’ of Rage.

a band until these days totaly unknown to me.
After we melted the vynil by playing it for hours on the record player my love for this band began. Love at first sight!

i don’t know, how it happened, maybe the country they are from, maybe that hell of a drummer Christos Efthymiadis from Kozani (at those days there were no Greek musicians in international bands), maybe that fucking leather cape peavy was wearing…

So, during my visit at my friend’s house (where the melting of his vinyls and cassettes for copying began), I was very happy to discover the next release of the band ‘Secrets in a Weird World’.

Apparently i totaly lost control, when I heard that album.
but i really went nuts, when I held in my hands that magic piece of paper for the entrance to paradise there at Marni street…where the’Hammersmith’ of Athens used to be…

peavy and fok ‘bs’ 18.2.1990 rodon club backstage

Sunday 18.02.1990 was the magic day. i still served in the greek army and after a voluntary stay of 7 days of service in the camp, just get that weekend clearance paper for that day.
I went down the Alexandras avenue alone, because i didn’t have in those days so many metalheads friends (yes, we were still walking in those days)…
i still was a ‘good-looking and decent young man’ not like these healthy people, lol…
shaved head in the spirit of the dogma either long hair or non at all, tight jeans melted in the buttocks from the cements of gate 13 of the stadium of panathinaikos and ripped at the knees for the spirit of revolution, with hand-painted pattern guns n roses logo on the thighs, old greek army boots, black ‘flying’ with badges, borrowed and never returned by a classmate (I still have it), a bag cap, so that the bald head does not freaze, motorhead t-shirt (what else) and the necessary accessory rings-earrings-bracelets-belts, with a beer per hand and the ticket in the pocket.

My joy was huge, cause even as a metal audience in greece we were for centuries behind other countries in live concerts …
I imagined a lot before the live … But what I did not expect was the performance of rage, the participation of the audience in a relatively new band that is essentially recommended to the audience and the emotion-surprise-joy of all of us from the Greek flag that was spread in the drumkit of Christos who with his broken Greek made the necessary recommendations under our cheers and the applause of Peavy and the
short-tempered Manni … Not to mention
… few knew them, many learned them at that night…
it was totaly insane. an incredible performance in an approximately 40 minute set-hurricane, which ended with my favorite (all of us) ‘Don’t Fear The Winter’. Their first song ever that I heard from the album that my friend gave me …
My opinion? The band of the evening.

video uploaded to youtube by jimmymentis

Not that Running Wild did not play well … they kicked asses. But i saw them again last year there, in a live where the performance of Conquistadores made the walls shake…
maybe it was my curiosity for Rage and that incredible moment to see the band i just discovered and i was excited of, maybe it was that 4-0 loose, that the local arch enemy in football received in Xanthi earlier in the afternoon, everything helped me to experience a musical metallic dream in…
After all, so many years have passed and the memory is weakening …
The only sure thing is that what increased from those first releases, that I heard, but also from the later ones, is undoubtedly my love for them and my weight … Not only mine but also Peavy’s…:-)
ps: their last album ‘Resurrection Day’ is awesome…

Coming up with such band name they combined two opposite things, yet each of them bares great power.

HERBST releazed on 1st of October their new single/video ‘Dieses Haus’

Matthias Engst (ENGST) reveals himself here as a co-songwriter and a video producer of his new favorite project. The name Herbst is part of the agenda because the sound of the four musicians from Berlin is hard, rough, and gloomy. Herbst makes a clear statement with their second single “Dieses Haus” and emphasizes that we are never alone. Every situation in life requires a pillar of support that reaches out to us and gives us strength. Their lyrics tell unadorned stories from the musicians’ everyday lives and feel so authentic that you can find yourself in them.

The band Herbst comments on “Dieses Haus” (This House): “The song is about an oppressive and bone-chilling experience of a childhood of a long-time friend. In that respect, this song had been waiting to be revealed for a long time.”
“These emotionally incisive episodes are transported by the once young lad who dramatically experienced ignorance, strictness and cruelty, violence, and merely unilateral love in his parental home, subsequently transporting these patterns of behavior exemplified to him into his own family life. In the end, and with the realization of being no better than his “role models,” he dies in mental and physical loneliness.”

The gripping music video, produced by Matthias Engst (ENGST), captures these embodied experiences in a stirring way, “which is why it touched us so powerfully during the making of the video. We hope that it creates much more awareness that difficult family relationships, domestic and psychological violence, are unfortunately not always just an exception,” Herbst takes a strong voice here on this topic, which is sadly more relevant than often known.

Domestic violence comes in many forms, like everything else, and begins insidiously. In most cases, those affected only talk to people they trust in their social environment, and it is crucial that the environment supports and reacts. Recognizing early signs and warning signals is perhaps even more important now than ever before. Especially at a time when couples, families, and children are isolated at home and stress, and aggression accumulates – because one-third of such freak-outs end deadly. Helpline-networks support affected people and their environment, help to take the perpetrators or perpetratresses in the responsibility, protect the victims, and support the perspective on a life without violence.

RUNNING WILD new album ‘Blood on Blood’ out on 29th of October

There are plenty of reasons why Rock’n’ Rolf Kasparek is so happy with BLOOD ON
BLOOD. Says Rolf: “We all know the difficulties the cultural sector was faced with during the
lockdown. On the other hand, it also gave me and many other artists some extra time since
most releases had to be postponed. I used that time to fine-tune every little detail of my new
material. The result is an album that in my opinion is probably the best in Running Wilds career to date. Every one of the ten songs sounds exactly as I had it in mind when I composed it. I’ve never been happier with a Running Wild record before.” So, with no further details available at this point, fans of the German metal legend can look forward to 29 October 2021, when BLOOD ON BLOOD will be out on Steamhammer/SPV. Those who can’t wait should mark 13 August in their diaries, when the lead single ‘Diamonds And Pearls’ will arrive at the physical and digital stores, followed by the second single ‘The Shellback’ on 24 September 2021. Could there be any better news for Running Wild disciples? Well, possibly the news below, which will also reveal some of the aforementioned details: Rolf justly describes BLOOD ON BLOOD as the most diverse offering he has released so far, not only in terms of the compositions but also as far as the production is concerned. “Every song has its own unmistakable sound,” explains the Running Wild captain. “Although I recorded the rhythm guitar parts with my 1976 Gibson Explorer as usual, the other parts were cut with a Gibson Flying V, a Fender Stratocaster and even – the undistorted parts – with a Fender American Standard Telecaster.” A prime example being ‘One Night, One Day’, which owes its great depth to its clean guitar performance. Rolf is referring to a song that is guaranteed to cause a stir with its anthemic direction and unusual arrangements: “For me, this track was a little experiment that Ive never dared to try before, because ‘One Night, One
Day’ doesnt have the typical intro-verse-chorus structure, instead gradually building up throughout the song.” The grooving ‘The Iron Times (1618 - 1648)’, a worthy album finale, is just as remarkable, with its eleven minutes of playing time the longest track on the disc, and thanks to its lyric about the Thirty Years’ War also one of the most ambitioned numbers. Speaking of lyrics: ‘Wings Of Fire’ and ‘Say Your Prayers’ are about prophecies, albeit not – as on many other releases – the prophecies of Nostradamus, but – among others – the prophecies of John of Jerusalem, the French Knight Templar and co-founder of the Order of the Knights Templar, who predicted organ trafficking back in the Middle Ages. Historically no less interesting, ‘Crossing The Blades’ sees Running Wild broach the story of the three musketeers from the 17th century, their emblem having been recreated on the cover artwork, once again designed by Jens Reinhold (Virgin Steele, Freedom Call, among others). Rolf: “Its a kind of hybrid
between the cross of the musketeers and our mascot, Adrian.”
Despite these lyrical ambitions, BLOOD ON BLOOD also features two “party rock numbers”,
as Rolf likes to refer to them: ‘Wild & Free’ and ‘Wild, Wild Nights’, which are meant to be
pure fun, fulfil their mission to a tee. And last but not least, there’s ‘The Shellback’, a track in
typical Running Wild style that starts with a Celtic-inspired intro, Running Wild revisiting the
atmospheric seafaring theme of their 1994 classic BLACK HAND IN, a prequel of that
maritime story. Equally characteristic of the band, which, in addition to Rolf, guitarist Peter
Jordan and bassist Ole Hempelmann, has since 2019 included drummer Michael Wolpers,
who contributed all the drum parts on the new disc, are the lead single ‘Diamonds And
Pearls’ (including lyric video) and the title track, incidentally the first number Rolf wrote for the
new album.
Returning to the prophecy theme, you don`t have to be a prophet to be able to anticipate the
gleam in the eyes of all Running Wild fans. There can be no doubt about it: BLOOD ON
BLOOD presents Running Wild at their best!

BODYGUERRA album ‘Fire & Soul’ out on 15th of October

When Ela and Guido decided to write songs at the end
of 2019, Guido searched through his large archive of
ideas, demo recordings and pre-productions. Including
an early version of a song that shortly afterwards
became “Steelheart”. After a few musical changes,
“Steelheart” was one of the first songs that Ela had
completed with text and melody in a very short time.
Recorded at Empire Studios by Rolf Munkes, an active
musician (Crematory) himself, the title quickly became
a catchy tune even for the studio crew.
“Steelheart” is a mentor of life, an advisor in good and
bad times, someone you can rely on, who is loyal and
undaunted by your side. A timeless topic, but one that
has been given a new emphasis in current times. More
rocking than its predecessor “Believe”, “Steelheart”
also conveys the subject matter of the lyrics from the
first to the last minute. Performed with the typical
Bodyguerra guitars, a groove of drums and bass that
left you nothing but foot tapping and dancing and a
hookline that catches you from the first second and
never let go.
Released on all major digital portals worldwide via
Fastball Music / Bob-Media.
Including the instrumental backing track to sing-along
as B-side.

FORGETTING THE MEMORIES new album ‘Vemod’ out on 24th of September 2021

Forgetting the Memories combine intricate, headbangable rhythms with melodic choruses that will have you singing along in no time, constructing a unique blend of deathcore and metalcore that is unparalleled in complexity and intensity.”Monophobia,” their first self-released full-length in 2016, was a sprawling labyrinth of ferocious, hard-pounding breakdowns and catchy choruses, peppered with meaningful lyrics detailing deeply personal journeys through issues like battling cancer, losing a friend, and heartbreak. The band continued on this path on their first release with their new label “Long Branch Records”. The EP “Known Darkness” was released in 2019 and featured 6 songs, further confirming the band’s rapid growth and potential. Now “Vemod”, the second longplayer of the 5 Swedes, is a clear further development of the already known trademarks of the band and thus comes across even more intense than its predecessors. The 10 tracks on the new album, which was mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Humanity’s Last Breath), are lyrically haunting and deal with personal setbacks, world-weariness, anger and melancholy or wistfulness (=”Vemod” in swedish).Over the years, Forgetting The Memories have remained true to their particular style, yet have constantly evolved and defined themselves as a truly essential force within the genre.

Written quote for every single/track:
Beneath The Creek – The meaning of this song is about finding the purpose in your
life by overcoming the darkness within yourself. There’s always some sort of doubt or
regret that lies heavy on our soul, but by trying to face that darkness we might be
able to push ourselves to a better life. This song tells a story about a person who
struggles with this, trying to fight for a better life.

The Solstice Rebirth – This song is about manipulative behavior that occurs more
often than it should. We try to put ourselves in the perspective where you are being
manipulated into doing things for others’ cause. With that, you’ll live in that mindset
until the darkness has swallowed you whole. You’ll become self-destructive and
dangerous to others but mostly to yourself.

The Lake – The story is set outside in the outskirts of the big cities close to a lake
where the melancholy of the forest continues on forever. It’s about getting too close
to someone even though they have a profound evil inside them, and then being left
alone when they’re gone. The Lake is about loneliness and abandonment when the
only person you hold dear is gone.

A Voice In The Static – This songs story is about love loss and the aftermath of
dealing that horrible experience. To cope with being reminded by the little things you
used to resemble with this person. The outcome of this incident causes depression
and self-hatred in order to believe that you are in fact alright.

Mask Ov Lies – This song is about a journey through the life of a person who has a
very distant relationship with his dad and the effect it has to the beholder. The song
takes a dark dive into what goes through the head of the son who sees nothing but
the wrong doings of his father. When it comes to becoming a parent of his own, he is
eager to be the better parent. To give a better life to his child

Cowards Tongue – This song details the latent resentment that builds up over years
of living in someone else’s shadow. Eventually resentment turns to rage as it boils
over and results in murderous intent. Sadly, the impact of such an act is a
tremendously heavy burden to bear.

From Soot – This song is about by making certain acts that can be the end of
everything that you love. In this case ‘From Soot’ is a story of a man who mistakenly
burns down his home with his family still inside. In prison he’s waiting for the end of
his days, he finally accepts death as his only way out. So that he too, can be with his
family once again.

Cursed Earth – This song is about the story of a man who lives a reckless life of pain
and suffering. He who has caused death throughout a small town now faces
judgement by being buried and then burned alive. Carved his remaining thoughts
onto the wooden boards. The meaning of “Cursed Earth” is the acceptance of the
afterlife which brings peacefulness to the bearer through fire.

Trauma – The trauma that has been caused over so many years makes one want to
lose all hope of existence. The angst fills your body as you know that you share the
same blood with the evil in your household. This song is about wanting to cut ties
with your father after being raised in an abusive home. ‘Trauma’ executes the hate
without remorse.

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH new album ‘Infernum In Terra’ out on 24th of September 2021

Even disasters bring opportunities, however. Less than two years after its predecessor’s release, A Pale Horse Named Death are poised to unveil their fourth full-length album, Infernum In Terra. Written and recorded during months of isolation in 2020, Abruscato’s latest collection of crestfallen anthems had a slow but satisfying gestation.“Around January last year, I was already planning on recording some ideas,” he recalls. “So I started doing some sketching. I’d walk away from it for a while, then come back and do more sketching, but then the pandemic changed everything, so I’d get involved in other things. I just have too many hats, you know? [Laughs] I have many projects going on in my life, not just in regards to music. But the summer went by and I didn’t touch the new music, but by then I had around 85 sketches. Then the Fall came, and suddenly my brain was wide open, and between October and December, I started recording lots of stuff.”
The result of Abruscato’s spontaneous productivity is simply the finest record that he has ever made. Infernum In Terra showcases a bold and adventurous new upgrade for APHND’s trademark sound, with greater subtleties and depths but also some of the heaviest, gnarliest riffs the band have ever unleashed. Combined with a production that fills the room with sparkling clarity and choking gloom, Infernum In Terra will satisfy every last one of the New Yorkers’ fans, while expanding Abruscato’s singular vision beyond all expectation.
Lyrically, too, Infernum In Terra represents a significant evolution. New songs like Cast Out From The Sky and visceral and epic first single Reflections Of The Dead are, of course, sodden with misery and emotional turmoil, but previous albums’ myopic approach has been rejected here. Instead, Infernum In Terra makes intermittent concessions to a more outward-looking perspective, enabling A Pale Horse Named Death to pass through fresh thematic territory.

Quotes by Sal Abruscato

Album info (incl. insights in the concept and what it’s all about)
“The album to me represents a new beginning, turning a new leaf shall we say
with the same vibe from past albums but with a fresh open minded approach.
There is no real concrete specific concept, it touches on some personal topics
in my life long, my interest in the dark arts, that to have light you must have
darkness to balance everything. With daylight comes nightfall, with heaven
there is hell and at this moment the world seems to be in a very dark place
hence the title of the album ‘Infernum In Terra’.
This is a very dark album, but what else is new I always write dark music to
sooth a dark soul!”

Album cover
“I am very excited about the album artwork and cover, it’s so nice to present
something different and new. New colors! New Artist! We got connected with
Kelvin Doran of Serpent Tusk Studios in Dublin, Ireland. He was very easy to
work with and saw us from a different perspective, when I told him the title
‘Infernum In Terra’ the artwork and cover he did was what he envisioned, an
almost biblical setting with this demonic high priest pope figure holding a bible
with the horse Sheild on it in one hand and the other hand a new cross we
coined the ‘Lucifix’! Villagers surrounding him in awe , fear and wonder. I feel
its a fresh and striking change from previous artwork we had commisioned in
past releases.”

Album title
“Well it kind of stems from a few things, one is the 10th anniversary of our first
album ‘And Hell Will Follow Me’ in 2021 so I wanted to utilize the word Hell
again but in a clever way at the same time the state of the world with this
global pandemic, suffering, all its destroyed and lives taken.
It seemed like the phrase ‘Hell On Earth’ seemed appropriate for the times and
music but I wanted something more unique. Thats when I translated it to Latin
and the title was born ‘INFERNUM IN TERRA’!”

Singles:
Believe In Something (You Are Lost)
“Is about feeling lost with your emotions and beliefs with the outside world,
your on the verge of snapping, feeling alone and that’s the moment where you
need to dig deep with your self, focus on what makes you feel better, ignore
the rest who do not help. In a nutshell believe in your self and you can achieve
anything!”

Shards Of Glass
“This one is juicy it‘s about the estranged and miserable relationship with my
sister, how she has always been envious of me, my wife and children. 12 long
years she has done all she could to defame me and my wife to other family.
My children suffer the most with a sense of emotional abandonment and
neglect from all family. So I ended up writing this song about those feelings
with out directly saying it clearly and it is a form of safe therapy for me with out
getting too involved in the reality of it all.”

Reflections Of The Dead
“For me one of the best doom songs I have simply ever written, nothing
extravagant just heavy, moody and dark. About a person with deep depression
that has the ability to see the dead where ever they look, the gift tortures them
but so enamored by it that they want to crossover and join that dimension.
Leave behind this cruel raging world!”

Slave To The Master
“This song is up there for one of my favorites, I ended up doing something very
different by have the piano dominate this song and keeping it very open feeling
with little guitar. About the inner turmoils I go through, the self destructive
nihilistic behavior I can possess at times, my inner battles with self esteem,
getting older and trying to fight my inner demons since childhood. For me it is
a very beautiful song and I love it!.”

Music is our saviour in even the darkest of times. A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH have
demonstrated this unwavering truth throughout their first decade. Founded and led by
multi-instrumentalist and Type O Negative alumnus SAL ABRUSCATO, the New York-based
crew opened their creative account in 2011, with stunning debut album And Hell Will Follow
Me: a slow-motion avalanche of crushing riffs, dark melodies and profound melancholy,
with Abruscato’s heart-wrenching lyrics providing its songs with a deep emotional core.
In 2013, A Pale Horse Named Death released their second album, Lay My Soul To Waste.
Musically opulent and even more punishing in sonic terms than its predecessor, it was
widely acclaimed as the Brooklyn unit’s finest work to date. Innumerable live shows
confirmed that the band were forging strong connections with a dedicated and passionate
audience, and despite a six-year wait, the third APHND album emerged in 2019 to a
uniformly positive response. Of course, the album in question – When The World Becomes
Undone – was blessed with what now seems an eerily prophetic title, as within months of its
release, the whole world locked down.
Even disasters bring opportunities, however. Less than two years after its predecessor’s
release, A Pale Horse Named Death are poised to unveil their fourth full-length album,
Infernum In Terra. Written and recorded during months of isolation in 2020, Abruscato’s
latest collection of crestfallen anthems had a slow but satisfying gestation.
“Around January last year, I was already planning on recording some ideas,” he recalls. “So I
started doing some sketching. I’d walk away from it for a while, then come back and do
more sketching, but then the pandemic changed everything, so I’d get involved in other
things. I just have too many hats, you know? [Laughs] I have many projects going on in my
life, not just in regards to music. But the summer went by and I didn’t touch the new music,
but by then I had around 85 sketches. Then the Fall came, and suddenly my brain was wide
open, and between October and December, I started recording lots of stuff.”
The result of Abruscato’s spontaneous productivity is simply the finest record that he has
ever made. Infernum In Terra showcases a bold and adventurous new upgrade for APHND’s
trademark sound, with greater subtleties and depths but also some of the heaviest,
gnarliest riffs the band have ever unleashed. Combined with a production that fills the room
with sparkling clarity and choking gloom, Infernum In Terra will satisfy every last one of the
New Yorkers’ fans, while expanding Abruscato’s singular vision beyond all expectation.
“The last record was a little bit of a rushed job of material that I had sitting around for a
while,” he notes. “What I like about this record is that we have fresh artwork, a fresh
outlook and all the songs were written last year. I brought in a lot more instrumentation in
terms of tubular, orchestral bells and a piano, and things that support the heavy guitars. I
like making the records as cool as possible. I don’t worry about being able to do things live, I
just do what sounds right and what sounds good.”
Lyrically, too, Infernum In Terra represents a significant evolution. New songs like Cast Out
From The Sky and visceral and epic first single Reflections Of The Dead are, of course,
sodden with misery and emotional turmoil, but previous albums’ myopic approach has been
rejected here. Instead, Infernum In Terra makes intermittent concessions to a more
outward-looking perspective, enabling A Pale Horse Named Death to pass through fresh
thematic territory.
“I guess it’s all still what A Pale Horse Named Death should be doing, but I backed off from
writing every song about manic depression, self-loathing and suicidal thoughts!” chuckles
Abruscato. “Unfortunately I’m a natural at it, because it’s a curse that I have. It was a little
unintentional, but a couple of the new songs came out with a more Biblical theme, with
stories like the fall of Lucifer. One song is about my experience of being put under
anaesthesia. It was like being in another world – it felt like I slept for days, but it was only 20
minutes, you know? So there’s some new ideas, and some things about personal stuff and
family stuff. I just didn’t make every song about personal torment.”
As it emerges into an uncertain and troubled world, Infernum In Terra seems certain to
enhance the reputation of these weather-beaten underdogs. A lifelong creative with an
already impressive resume, Sal Abruscato has savoured this new opportunity to explore the
darkness of this wicked world, and produced his finest work to date in the process. In the
darkest of times, A Pale Horse Named Death rides on with renewed vigour, forever raging
against the dying of the light.
“I’m just happy to be releasing another record at this point in my life,” Abruscato concludes.
“It’s fresh and I’m excited about it. Right now, the only thing left to do is put out music, I
think! It’s a sketchy time and I hope it gets better for everyone. But I’m optimistic. I’m
hoping there’ll be new fans that dig Infernum In Terra, and the old fans will dig it. It’s a
natural progression and there’s some really cool stuff going on. I’m really proud of this
record and I’m pretty stoked to see how people take it. This business is so fickle these days, I
don’t know what’s gonna fly. I’m just doing what I like!”

TORRENTIAL RAIN new single out on 16th of September 2021

On September 16th, 2021, the new single will be released, which according to songwriter Chris Danner has a lot to offer:
“When life gets you down and you feel in way above your head… Then put on this song and let us take you on a wild and groovy ride full of riffs and breakdowns that are sure to get you headbanging. Get ready for another progressive metalcore hit mixed with saxophone and big band by Torrential Rain!”

The previous single “WHY DO I CARE” cracked 25,000 audio streams after 10 days and immediately appeared in the Spotify Playlists “Progressive Metal” and “New Blood.”

Germanys metal highflyers TORRENTIAL RAIN catch you where everyday life
lets you down. Romance, Break-ups or reflecting on one‘s own life are just a
few of the themes to let their fanbase located in over 99 countries know:
You are not alone!
Coupled with the guiding principle of „Power meets precision“ they fuse the
unfusable: the brutal energy of bands like August Burns Red and Polaris
combined with progressive-virtuoso writing á la Periphery. The four guys
hailing from Germany create a perfect balance of both worlds in which
brute force and delicate thoughtfulness coexist and present these American
novelty trends to Europe’s stages.
Scene greats like Kvelertak, Equilibrium, Illumenium or Time, The Valuator
have already recognized the impressive musical potential of TORRENTIAL
RAIN and brought them on stage as support, where they were able to carry
away fans of all possible genres on 70 shows with the current line-up.
TORRENTIAL RAIN racked up over 570.000 streams in listeners playlists with
their singles „HOME ALONE“, „STRUNG OUT“, „DEAF EARS“, and „LEFT OUTSIDE”. To top the year off the latest track „LEFT OUTSIDE“ got featured in
Spotify’s editorial playlists „NEW METAL TRACKS“ and „NEW BLOOD“.
In 2021 two more songs followed: “Time Will Tell” & “Why Do I Care.” The
latter reached more than 10,000 streams in the first week and landed directly in many playlists.

PROJECT RENEGADE new single ‘the new joker’ out

“The New Joker” is one of our – if not the most -beloved songs on our record “Order of the Minus”. It deals with the reoccurring subject of “acting like a charlatan in order to be liked and feel loved, only to end up being cast out of the social norms and end up hating yourself, hating life and everyone around you”. It dabbles into being bullied and confused all your life about what you truly see behind the wall of lies that people are trying to establish as the “norm”. This song aims to inspire people to come together and rise above the darkness of this world as one, and to empower those in suffering to take a stand and fight back for a better life that we can enjoy in unity and peace. #unitythroughdiversity

COLD NIGHT FOR ALLIGATORS album ‘The Hindsight Notes’ out on 4th of September 2021

COLD NIGHT FOR ALLIGATORS are a respected and forward-thinking progressive metal outfit from
Copenhagen, Denmark. Swaying the world with their innovative take on progressive metalcore and
playing numerous shows across Europe and even the far east of India, these guys are no freshmen.
Having explored dense, technical prog metal on their two previous full-lengths, their new release
»The Hindsight Notes« shows a more mature band with a cleaner, softer sound, focused on wellcrafted, innovative songs with a progressive edge.
The clean, minimalist aesthetic of the artwork covers a sprawling record that dials back the heaviness
where needed to let the song-writing and myriad of creative details shine. Whether it’s moody
synths, bouncy 8-string guitar grooves, or tasteful, layered choir arrangements, the musical side of
the band captivates and shows a multi-faceted, creative outpouring without conventional limitations.
This approach also shows in the lyrical and vocal tour-de-force from frontman Johan Pedersen,
dealing with personal trauma, hopes, and doubts in a far more intimate and exposed way than what’s
usually seen in the guarded prog metal genre.
In the flourishing Danish metal scene, COLD NIGHT FOR ALLIGATORS truly stands apart as a hard to
categorize, and rewarding listen with their new record, which dares to stand out and thoughtfully use
their well-honed skills.
The band states: “This record is the sound of us growing up as people and musicians. Before and
during the pandemic, the creative process was a fixed point in a lot of personal chaos, which we tried
to channel towards an honest and personal statement. Everything was allowed, but also had to be
executed to perfection. We brought in a ton of cool collaborators to make this vision come through
and truly feel like we made a fully formed record that does not follow trends and does not
compromise. Whether it was going softer, more straight forward or more experimental, we made a
point to follow where our common creative sensibilities led us. It was a huge amount of work, but the
album feels intensely rewarding and personal for that reason.”
»The Hindsight Notes« is co-produced by the band, Mirza Radonjica (GHOST IRIS, MØL, SIAMESE)
and Chris Kreutzfeldt (CABAL, MØL, GHOST IRIS). Mixing and mastering was done by Jacob Hansen
(VOLBEAT, KATATONIA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER).

ENGST releazed on september 2021 the 3rd thei new single/video

With ‘Gute Jahre’, ENGST have released a fresh and danceable summer hit that really makes you want to see their
upcoming live shows. Text, beat and melody leave nothing to be desired for fans of skatepunk.
Despite the good vibe, the song has a very special and slightly melancholy meaning for the band and especially for singer
Matthias, as the content is about saying goodbye to a deceased friend.
Matze (singer):
“Last year a friend of mine passed away dramatically. His death concerns me to this day and with this song I wanted to put a
small memorial to him. He was a fun-loving and crazy guy for whom a slow piano number, for example, would not have been
suitable. So the song turned out to be rather positive and the lyrics were meant to remind less of his death than of his life.
Robert, we miss you down here.
We think that many of our fans and also people beyond that recognize themselves in this song and maybe even get some
positive energy from it. If so, we’ve done everything right. It sounds so trite, but the phrase “LIVE EVERY DAY AS IF IT WAS
THE LAST” has a lot of truth in it.”

ENGST are always good for a surprise and regularly cause a sensation with unusual promotions. The fact that, due to the global corona pandemic, you can’t get together as usual and shoot a music video, for example, doesn’t stop the guys from
being creative and innovative at full speed.
With their upcoming EP »Vier Gesichter«, the Berliners prove once again that they work a little differently than other bands –
true to their motto:
“We don’t fit into any drawer, we are the whole closet”.
The 4 new tracks pay homage to the very personal musical roots of each individual band member. They are also a thank you
to the fans who supported the band even in the tough times of the pandemic and made their loyalty possible with the
purchase of concert tickets and the fantastic Top 20 charts entry of the current album »Schöne neue Welt«.
The »Vier Gesichter« EP will appear in a limited physical edition as CD EP and 12 “EP in addition to the usual digital
versions and will contain the piano version of the track ‘Zu Hause’ as a bonus track.
The band gave the following statement about the release:
“In these challenging times you supported ENGST incredibly blatantly and as promised we want to thank you with new
music. In the following months, we will be releasing four new tracks to sweeten your time without concerts. We’ll see you on
our tour next year and tear down together, just like we did before these crazy times.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING !!!”

IMMINENCE new single ‘Ghost’ is releazed on 3rd of September 2021

”Ghost is a perfect example of how the creative flow in Imminence just knows no boundaries. We don’t follow trends or try to fit our art into a format, rather we’re always eager to explore the unexpected.”– Harald Barrett (guitar)
Fronted by vocalist and violinist Eddie Berg, guitarists Harald Barrett & Alex Arnoldsson, drummer Peter Hanström, and bass player Christian Höijer; IMMINENCE releases their new single ‘Ghost – a psychedelic and supernatural cinematic experience that flirts with the occult and explores the darkest corners of the mind.

Following the success of the previous single ‘Heaven In Hiding‘, that instantly became the fastest-growing release in the band’s history, even surpassing the previous record held by ‘Temptation‘ (May 2021), IMMINENCE has in a matter of a few months released two of the most successful metalcore songs of this year. Once again, the group displays their unrestrained diversity and dynamic approach with the new song ‘Ghost‘.

Director Pavel Trebukhin and IMMINENCE have invested more time and effort than ever on the video production, ensuring the viewer to experience a completely new level of artistic storytelling and raises the bar even higher for what can be expected from a quickly uprising metalcore act today. The new single is a hard-hitting fireball, mixing influences that haven’t been heard since the bands breakthrough single ‘The Sickness‘ (2015) with all the unique features the band has established as their very own, among others the unmistakable violin performance by singer Eddie Berg

The new single was recorded, mixed, and mastered in Sweden by Henrik Udd: Award-winning producer that has worked on some of the most critically acclaimed albums with acts such as ARCHITECTS, BRING ME THE HORIZON, AT THE GATES, and many more, including IMMINENCE as well.  After the remarkably successful announcement of the band’s exclusive acoustic tour ”Live In Concert Halls”, granting the Swedish quintet a placing in Eventim’s Official Charts as one of the fastest-selling tours in Germany, IMMINENCE recently announced a new European headline tour taking place in 19 cities during February & March 2022. All venue sizes have increased largely in capacity and these will be the band’s biggest headline shows to date.

OVERSENSE new album ‘EGOMANIA’ out on 17th of September 2021

OVERSENSE is currently one of the most emerging bands the European Metal scene has to offer.
The band around the charismatic frontman Danny Meyer, YouTube star guitarist Jasmin ‘Jassy J.’
Pabst, bass player Marco Volpert and drummer Patrick Lippert belongs to the hottest Modern Melodic
Metal acts of the last years, not only since the several weeks’ tour with Metal Queen Doro Pesch!
With “Egomania” they deliver a more than impressive album, which will be released on September 17,
2021, via Dr. Music Records. Thematically perfectly fitting to the ongoing global political chaos, Fridays
for Future and the current social media madness, it zeroes in on e.g. faceless fashion and beauty
influencers without rhyme or reason with its eleven songs, skillfully packed in brilliant, majestic and
catchy modern Melodic Metal anthems. The album has been produced and mixed by bandleader Danny
Meyer in his Sunway Studios and refined in the mastering by Miro Rodenberg and Olaf Reitmeier of
the Gate Studio (Avantasia, Kamelot, Epica), who were also twisting the knobs on the debut album
“The Storyteller”. OVERSENSE have everything a young band needs. Besides great songs with catchy
tunes, especially exceptional talent Jassy J. on guitar and singer as well as songwriter Danny Meyer
with his unique voice stand out. With that certain something up his sleeve, he knows how to captivate
both the Metal girls and party-hungry headbangers.
The story of OVERSENSE begins in 2012 when Danny Meyer and Patrick Lippert record their first songs
together and make contact with Olaf Reitmeier. In the following years, the EP “Dreamcatcher” was
released, followed by the album “The Storyteller”, which was also released via Dr. Music Records in
2017, with which the former line-up gathered excellent international reviews. The following winter,
Jassy J., whose YouTube channel JJ’s One Girl Band now has nearly 260.000 fans around the world,
is confirmed as a permanent band member. After the tour with Doro in winter 2018, the preparations
for the second album start. On “Egomania” OVERSENSE manage to refine the strengths of the debut
significantly and to reach the next level sound-wise. The album is a perfect Modern Melodic Metal
masterpiece, with which the four musicians will win over both the young metalheads and the veterans
of the scene. The opener “Toast To The Devil” unites all OVERSENSE trademarks with its rocky attitude
and shows where the musical journey is heading. “The Longing” is already the first song with absolute
hit potential, which will also be released as a single along with a fantastic lyric video by Very Metal Art
designer Andy Pilkington (Orden Ogan, Judas Priest, Motörhead), and leads the fan on the right track.
It continues with the first single “Be”, a powerful duet between Danny Meyer and Sick N’ Beautiful
vocalist Herma Sick, which illuminates the social media parallel worlds and is imposingly staged in the
music video by director Mirko Witzki (Caliban, Any Given Day, Emil Bulls). Dark and damn heavy starts
“Tear Me Down”, which is about the double standards of some characters. In the dramatic “Love”,
the third single along with a spectacular music video, OVERSENSE set to music with tragic lyrics a
family history that has gone out of control and from which psychopaths are born. On “Faith” Danny
Meyer and Snow White Blood singer Ulli Perhonen celebrate a marvelous Symphonic Metal duet. The
atmospheric ballad “Memories” is followed by the grand finale with “Extinction”. Beginning with
melancholic piano sounds and Danny Meyer’s dark dramatic voice, the song unfolds into an energetic
Melodic Metal epic and is a dignified end of a stunning album. The concise as well as great artwork of
“Egomania” was masterfully designed by Björn Gooßes (Killustrations), garnished with brilliant band
photos by Stephanie Grass (BlackSally).
OVERSENSE create a unique sound in the form of fat headbanger riffs, filigree solos and melodic
anthems with the potential to make a huge impact on the international Metal scene. Live they have
already proven it several times in front of large audiences. “Egomania” tops this feeling and takes
the listener on a fascinating journey through all facets of powerful Modern Melodic Metal with unique
musical highlights.
Tracklist:1. Toast To The Devil | 2. The Longing | 3. Be | 4. My Eden | 5. Tear Me Down | 6. Love | 7. Faith | 8. Rave

ZOODRAKE drop new single/video ‘success of the snake’

The new album ‘seven’ is releazed on October 1.

Frontman and producer Hilton Theissen, follows his path with Zoodrake on the forthcoming second album “seven” with ten energizing and emotional songs in a forceful way. The first single ‘success of the snake’ is released this Thursday and reveals the band’s strengthened stylistic path featuring a varied range and sweeping synth and swirling guitar walls on danceable beats.

Reflecting on the first single, Hilton states: “The biblical allusion to the serpent’s success alludes to mankind’s addiction to falling prey to its penchant for immoral decision-making, with the thought of the beauty of its cultural creations evoking a touch of melancholy with regard to its certain demise.”

The band’s fans were overjoyed when in summer 2020 Rage frontman Peavy
Wagner presented the group’s new line-up featuring two guitarists, announcing a
return to the constellation that had recorded classics such as Black In Mind and End
Of All Days. After last year’s departure of Marcos Rodriguez, Stefan Weber (ex-
Axxis) was enlisted, followed just a few weeks later by Jean Bormann (Angel Inc,
Rage & Ruins). The fourth band member is drummer Vassilios “Lucky”
Maniatopoulos, who has been with Rage since 2015. The current line-up could be
seen and heard for the first time on the ´The Price Of War 2.0video clip, a new edition of the same-named song from Black In Mind, which has been available on all major online channels since June 2020. Immediately afterwards, the quartet commenced work on its brand-new album Resurrection Day, available on Steamhammer/SPV on 17 September 2021 as a CD digipack, vinyl double album, premium box-set and for digital download. “Im surprised how quickly the new line-up
has gelled into a homogeneous team and how positively the talents of each band
member have come into effect,” says Wagner, looking back on a highly creative
production phase and commenting on Rage’s latest offering: “I feel that our music is
still typical Rage on the one hand while sounding so much fresher on the other.”
Rage have recorded twelve new songs covering a stylistic range that could hardly be
more characteristic of the band, from raw thrash metal tracks like ´Virginity(also the first video), ´The Age Of Reason and ´Extinction Overkillthrough midtempo pieces such as ´Arrogance And Ignorance and ´Monetary Godsto the straightforward ballad ´Black Room which balances things out. “Rage fans get exactly what they
want on Resurrection Day, plus a surprise or two,” promises Peavy, mentioning in
particular ´Travelling Through Time, a number that explores the extremes between bludgeoning “shoot-em up grooves” (quote Peavy) and epic moments. “The song is inspired by Renaissance composer Giorgio Mainerio,” he explains. “Theres a piece
by Mainerio called ´Schiarazula Marazula, with a wonderful theme that I often play at home on acoustic guitar. Jean and I have adapted it to suit the Rage format and given the song a different rhythmic perspective, which has added intensity. We’ve never done a number like ´Travelling Through Time before.”
While were on the subject: Resurrection Day features another Rage cooperation with Pepe Herrero from Spain, who contributed atmospheric orchestral arrangements to four songs (´Resurrection Day, ´The Age Of Reason, ´Traveling Through Time,
´Black Room). “As before, the maestro's orchestration adds a whole new dimension, more depth and even more expressiveness to a number of our songs,” Peavy praises Rage’s thoroughly successful “Spanish connection”. Speaking of which: Resurrection Day was mixed by Herreros compatriot Dani González Suárez, who has been the
    band`s live mixer for years.
And last but not least: Lyrically, Peavy once again proves that he likes to think
beyond pure metal clichés. Although Resurrection Day is no concept album in the
traditional sense, a common thread runs through all the numbers: “It’s about the
history of mankind from a philosophical and psychological point of view, two aspects
that have always interested me very much. And that’s exactly what I found so
irresistible about making this album – to take a closer look at things that I’ve been
thinking about for a long time.”
So we can look forward to a very special Rage album, and of course eventually also
to live shows. Provided that the situation allows it, Peavy and his men are set to
embark on a major European tour in November 2021. With Resurrection Day on their
setlist, the shows are guaranteed to turn into highly explosive events!

Herbst ‘Zwanzigtausend Meilen’ new single out on 30th of july 2021

The time has finally come, Herbst from Berlin release their debut single “Zwanzigtausend Meilen”! The name Herbst is literally part of the agenda because the sound of the four Berlin musicians is hard, rough, and gloomy. Herbst emphasizes on their debut single that we are never alone. Every situation in life requires a pillar of support that reaches out to us and gives us strength.

Stream it here: https://ffm.to/zwanzigtausendmeilen
Their lyrics tell unadorned stories from the musicians’ everyday lives and feel so authentic that you can find yourself in them. Matthias Engst (ENGST) reveals himself here as a co-songwriter as well as a video producer of his new favorite project.

Herbst singer Olli comments on the first single and the songwriting: “Zwanzigtausend Meilen (Twenty thousand Miles) was co-written by my friend Engst and me. We wanted a song that appeals to many and in whose lyrics we see and recognize ourselves. All of us have our troubles, we have too much from the day-to-day routine and search for our places of refuge…, these can be quiet places like here under the surface of the sea, at the bed of the sea, where you can regain your composure and reset yourself.”

“Matze shot the videos. He is an absolute movie enthusiast and always has great ideas and then gets us on board so we can incorporate our ideas,” the band adds about the making of the video. Matthias Engst comments about Herbst: “The position of a manager was always unthinkable for me as an artist until the current time, because I am fully involved with my own projects in the field of videography or the very work on my own band ENGST. But when Herbst frontman Olli decided to start a serious musical project again, I was on fire from the beginning and offered my help out of years of friendship. After I realized how intensively and passionately the rest of the band was working on Herbst’s progression, my interest was directly increased and I could imagine a permanent collaboration. Over time, my friendship with the other Herbst musicians has also grown considerably, and working on songs, strategies, and concepts together with the band is simply unbelievable fun for me. The straightforward and easy-going nature of the guys, as well as their willingness to put themselves unconditionally into the band’s work, reminded me of the energy of Engst and boosted my motivation even more. Similar to Engst, Herbst perform a sound all their own, which is extremely appealing to me as a fan as well, and I’m thoroughly convinced that there’s a huge fanbase waiting for the four Berliners out there.”

The band slams heavy riffs as well as thrilling beats into the listener’s face just like a storm, while still being exceptionally melodic and catchy with the distinctive voice of Herbst’s singer Oliver Weckert, who founded the band with his buddy Mark Rötz. The two guys just won the Berlin radio station STAR FM’s “Brand Your Band” song contest earlier this year and will release their first EP via the new label Träumer & Helden in February 2022. Stay tuned!

SODOM new EP ‘Bombenhagel’ out 20.08.2021

Tracklisting:

  1. Bombenhagel 6:06
  2. Coup De Grace 3:06
  3. Pestiferous Posse 5:05
Tracks 1 is a re-recorded classic with the current line-up
Track 2 and Track 3 are brand new recorded songs with the current line-up!

Following yet more official appreciation, as acknowledged by the presentation of the German
Record Critics’ Award, for their current album Genesis XIX (having garnered the prize once
before with its predecessor Decision Day in 2016) and prior to their upcoming 40th band
anniversary next year, Sodom have rarely been as energetic as in spring 2021. Despite
cancelled shows, despite the Covid-19 lockdown, despite the many imponderabilities that
these strange times bring about. In a phase when other bands appear to remain stuck in
anguish, 20 August 2021 will see Tom Angelripper and band members Frank Blackfire
(guitar), Yorck Segatz (guitar) and Toni Merkel (drums) release their brand-new EP
Bombenhagel on Steamhammer/SPV, available on CD, 12” vinyl and for digital download.
“Originally we had planned to bring out the record in time for this year’s summer festival
season, including a sticker with all confirmed tour dates. Of course, the way it looks at the
moment, all gigs will be postponed until 2022. But the EP will be released anyway, as a sign
of life. As a signal to our fans: We’re still around! The story continues,” explains Tom, who
has three sensational numbers up his sleeve.
Number 1: a new edition of their classic ‘Bombenhagel’, from their 1987 album Persecution
Mania. “I wanted a recording of our old classic by the new line-up. Of course that was really
special with a drummer such as Toni and two stringsmen. This new arrangement of our
anthem definitely holds a few surprises in store.” Not forgetting an awesome guitar solo
courtesy of Harris Johns, who as a producer also guested on the Persecution Mania version
of ‘Bombenhagel’: “Harris practically insisted on contributing a special kind of solo, in line
with his outstanding skill. Naturally, that’s been a real pleasure for us because we’re all
aware of what he’s done for us. Without Harris, Sodom wouldn’t be where we are today.”
Number 2: the brand-new track ‘Coup De Grace’, which Tom describes as a “true thrash
sensation”. The song was composed by Yorck Segatz, with lyrics penned – as ever – by
Tom: “It’s about the frequently-sung-about death blow that a hunter delivers to a deer that he
has wounded, a torero to a bull, a killer to their victim. But what we are really saying is:
Humanity is currently in the process of administering the blow of death to itself. Climate
change, massive environmental problems, wars, the strange way of interacting that people
currently have. We’re all responsible if things go down the drain. ‘Coup De Grace’ is our
attempt to rouse people and urge them to act more thoughtfully.”
And last but not least, number 3: ‘Pestiferous Posse’, a sinister, heavy and downright brutal
track with low-tuned guitars and lots of “heavy artillery” (quote Tom) in terms of sound. It’s
about that most famous of gunfights in the history of the American Wild West at the O.K.
Corral in Tombstone, Arizona, in October 1881 between the brothers Wyatt, Morgan and
Virgil Earp and Doc Holliday, and local cattle and horse rustlers and outlaws, who called
themselves the “Cowboys”. To Tom, this historic event is not only a cornerstone of American
history, but in a figurative sense also a synonym of current problems in the US, as well as
Germany. He says: “If you look at the persistent battle between Democrats and Republicans,
the storming of the Capitol a few months ago – there definitely are a few parallels with the
past.”
Talking of which: The new EP will certainly not be the last chapter of Sodom’s history. Highly
motivated thanks to the latest recognition of their outstanding thrash metal by fans and media
alike, the four musicians have already set their sights on the future. Tom promises: “Of
course we’re really happy that our fans love Genesis XIX and that the album has made no.
10 in the charts. After all, where would we be without our fans? Based on the fantastic
reception of our album, our next target can only be to come up with something really special
to mark our anniversary next year!”

Imminence new single ‘Heaven In Hiding’

IMMINENCE unveils a secret.
Fronted by vocalist and violinist Eddie Berg, guitarists Harald Barrett & Alex Arnoldsson,
drummer Peter Hanström and bass player Christian Höijer; IMMINENCE takes us on an epic,
cinematic journey with their captivating new single ‘Heaven In Hiding’.
Following the release of previous single ‘Temptation’, the relentless behemoth that earned the
nomination as the heaviest song in the bands history and upon release undisputedly became
one of the most successful metalcore singles of 2021, IMMINENCE once
again displays their unrestrained diversity and dynamic approach with a
new release.
With ‘Heaven In Hiding’, the group presents all their strengths and unique
features as a band and accompanies the song with an extraordinary
video production, once again directed by Pavel Trebukhin. ‘Temptation’
might have set a new standard for what one might expect from the group,
but ‘Heaven In Hiding’ proves them to be unlike anyone else.
The video recordings took place somewhere deep inside the ice cold landscapes of Latvia, February 2021.

”Temptation was the undoubtedly biggest production we ever worked on. We want to show that we’re able to deliver the
same quality and creativity, yet do something completely different. Heaven In Hiding is now yours.” Harald Barrett (guitar)

The song was recorded, mixed, and mastered in Sweden by Henrik Udd: Award-winning producer that has worked on some
of the most critically acclaimed albums with acts such as ARCHITECTS, BRING ME THE HORIZON, AT THE GATES, and
many more, including IMMINENCE as well.
After the remarkably successful announcement of the band’s exclusive
acoustic tour ”Live In Concert Halls”, granting the Swedish quintet a placing in Eventim’s Official Charts as one of the
fastest selling tours in Germany, IMMINENCE recently announced a new European headline tour taking place in 19 cities
during February & March 2022. All venue sizes has increased largely in capacity and these will be the bands biggest
headline shows to date.

Since the release of »Turn The Light On: Deluxe Edition«, an album era that has acted as a significant milestone, where
IMMINENCE took the step from being a promising up & comer to an established headline act, ‘Heaven in Hiding’ is the
secondnew, heavy track the band is releasing in almost two years.
With a placing in the Top 100 Official German Album charts, a sold-out run of album release shows and a 100% increase
in ticket sales, and doubled venue capacities during the last EU headline tour, IMMINENCE has proven to be one of the most
growing and exciting bands in the metal scene today.
IMMINENCE was formed in the south most part of Sweden and have over the years become one of the country’s most
promising acts with a diverse sound and universe, embracing everything from metalcore to acoustic music. Founded in 2010
by Eddie and Harald when they were just teenagers, the band grew organically with a constantly expanding fan-base all
over the world while touring actively in Europe since the release of the band’s breakthrough single ’The Sickness’ (2015).
IMMINENCE has released three studio albums, »I« (2014), »This Is Goodbye« (2017) and »Turn The Light On« (2019).

Cold Nights For Alligators ‘The Hindsight Notes’ out 22022, 4th february

It was a huge amount of work, but the
album feels intensely rewarding and personal for that reason.”»The Hindsight Notes« is co-produced by the band, Mirza Radonjica (GHOST IRIS, MØL, SIAMESE)
and Chris Kreutzfeldt (CABAL, MØL, GHOST IRIS). Mixing and mastering was done by Jacob Hansen
(VOLBEAT, KATATONIA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER).
»The Hindsight Notes« will be out through Arising Empire on 4th February 2022.

TheCityIsOurs new single ‘Coma’

Since forming in 2015, this London based melodic metalcore 5-piece have been making strides in the
alternative rock and metal scene. Extensive UK touring of their octane-fuelled live sets, along with
the success of debut album »Low« (August 2019), which smashed into the top 5 iTunes metal charts,
with a string of singles appearing in top Spotify and Amazon Music editorial playlists, has gained
praise and recognition for CITY with peers and industry, and further cemented the loyalty and
dedication of a growing army of fans.
2019 was a very busy year for the band, with appearances at a slew of UK festivals including Camden
Rocks, Macmillan Fest, Burn It Down, Holloween, a fly in appearance at High Fives Festival in
Sweden, a headline set in the Doghouse Tent at the revered Download Festival where an audience
of 4000+ festival revellers got to witness CITY in full effect, and a sold out album release show at
Boston Music Rooms in London.
Following the departure of long-standing vocalist Sam Stolliday the band unexpectedly found
themselves in unknown territory, with a burning question – where do we go from here? 12 months
on, the band are back with the introduction of new vocalist Oli Duncanson and ready to welcome a
brand new era of THECITYISOURS.
“Oli has been a part of our team for a long time. He is a very well respected entity in his own right
amongst the music scene, having toured as a photographer with bands such as Wage War, Oceans
Ate Alaska, Our Hollow, Our Home amongst countless others. He was massively involved in bringing
our creative vision to life on our first record and has toured with us a number of times, so the personal
bonds were already very strong. We knew he had a voice in the locker. We’d seen snippets of his
capabilities over the years, so when he registered an interest in becoming a part of CITY, we knew we
had to explore it as an option.
We got him into the studio to demo a couple of tracks and clicked instantly. The vibe in the room was
electric as soon as he opened his mouth. The power and raw emotion of his voice translated perfectly
to the overall feel of what CITY was, but also opened up an exciting possibility to develop our sound in
areas we had never explored before. We immediately knew we were dealing with something very
special. The departure of Sam from the band left some very big shoes to fill, but we are confident that
you won’t be disappointed with what’s to come from the new era of THECITYISOURS.” – Mikey Page
“The band and I have been good friends for years having worked for them or bands around them, be
it on tour or creating their music videos for the last album, so in that sense I was fortunate to know
the inner workings of the band before joining. I’ve always wanted to be part of a band but it’s always
been something I was apprehensive to do as nothing previously ever seemed to feel right. I remember
being shown some demos of some new songs prior to Sam’s departure and absolutely loving the
direction and progression of the band’s sound so as soon as Mikey told me about the opening in the
band, I knew I had to take a chance!” – Oli Duncanson
New single ‘Violent’ is the band’s first offering to feature Oli at the helm of THECITYISOURS and is a
real nod to the angstier incarnation of the band.
“I think people have been a little cautious of bands like ours. We’ve always been a band that have
bridged the gaps between genres and with its successes has often left people looking to others,
perhaps afraid to admit they like what they’re hearing until its validated by one of their peers.
‘Violent’ is a line in the sand. It is the embodiment of our ethos of taking every element of our band to
the next level and making a definitive mark with the dawn of a new era. As one of the heaviest tracks
we’ve ever written, it starts hot and shows no sign of slowing down. Relentless angst from start to
finish.
‘Violent’ is arguably our most honest account as a band to date. Betrayal was never something we’d
really experienced before as a band, so dealing with events of this nature was a difficult but incredibly
insightful process to experience. The progression from sadness to anger is always a difficult period to
rationalise when contemplating the reasons for a relationship collapsing. In many cases, it’s clear that
there are reasons or regrettable actions to contextualise a series of events. However, it does not mean
that they hurt any less. This track lays it all out on the table, with a hope to providing some kind of
solace for the pain, before picking ourselves back up and coming back, stronger than ever before.” –
Mikey Page
‘Violent’ is set to be released on 26th March via Arising Empire.
“We are ecstatic to have joined the Arising Empire family, amongst a roster of so many talented
bands. The team at the label have been incredibly supportive of our creative vision for this record and
allowed us to spread our wings to create a collection of music unlike anything we have ever
attempted before. Some of our biggest influences have been associated with this great team over the
years, so we are very excited to see what the future has in store.” – Mikey Page
ALBUM
THECITYISOURS are notorious for combining emotionally driven lyrical content with a furious blend
of Rock, Metal & Pop influences, and the Sophomore album »Coma« is no exception. Taking varied
inspiration from the likes of BRING ME THE HORIZON, DON BROCO and WAGE WAR, through to
artists such as Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and THE 1975, the band have taken their philosophy
for cross genre diversity to new levels entirely.
“COMA depicts a complex journey of self-discovery. A metaphorical life-after-death. I’d gone through
an incredibly difficult time in my personal life which saw a number of important relationships very
close to me falling apart. Sam had parted ways with the band and there were question marks around
the future of CITY. I turned to the only thing I know for a form of respite from the emotional turmoil I
was facing, picked up the guitar and started putting how I was feeling down on paper.
The variation of themes that came to fruition were in some ways surprising to me. There was an
anger and bitterness I had never had the balls to put out in the open in such a direct manner before.
I’d always been concious of keeping things subliminal through fear of how other people might
perceive the material we were releasing. Our songs have always been written around things that have
happened to us and how it’s affected us as people, but there was a new found honesty to this record
unlike any previous attempts we had made as a band. It felt like the gloves had come off and we were
free to do exactly what we wanted to do, without the limitations of judgement we had previously
enslaved ourselves with.” – Mikey Page
There is an overarching presence of loss throughout the themes portrayed therough the lyrics on the
record. A loss of loved ones, relationships, personal control and even a contemplation for a loss of
life. However, juxtaposed against the fresh feeling, pop-centric musical arrangements that are
interwoven throughout, this record breathes a balance of infectious radio stylised hooks that radiate
an underlying positivity to an otherwise dark concept through the lyrical content.
“We have always been a band that has worn our hearts on our sleeves. We have never been afraid to
speak about or show our emotions in the public domain and this record is a true extension of that
ideology. There is a toxicity in some areas of society that often condemns the expression of emotion,
particularly in men & boys, as weakness.
These songs tell the story of some of the most difficult times of my life. I wanted to write a record that
outwardly showed the audience that it’s okay to cry. It’s okay to say you’re not okay. I hope people
are able to relate to this record in a way that they can take from it and hopefully in turn, provide a
network for people to connect with each other and make those dark days a little brighter.” – Mikey
Page
In collaboration with Oz Craggs at Hidden Track Studios (NECK DEEP, MALLORY KNOX, FEED THE
RHINO) this latest work has developed a fresh maturity in sound, through the crossing of genre lines
and limitations.
“With so much change in and around the band, we needed somebody we trusted to help us develop a
new sound that paid homage to everything people have grown to love about CITY, whilst
simultaneously closing the door on the past and embracing a new era of our band. When we decided
we were going to put together a new record, it was never in doubt that we would be returning to
Hidden Track to work with Oz again. As a long time friend of the band and producer of our previous
work, he had an insight into how we wanted to experiment with our previous formula and create
something that felt like a positive evolution of CITY.
We wanted to make a record that didn’t sound like anybody else. Something to lay down the gauntlet
and show that just being present wasn’t going to be enough this time around. We weren’t just here to
be a passive part in the music scene, but to assert ourselves within it. Following meticulous
discussions regarding the direction we wanted to pursue, Oz encapsulated our vision as trying to
marry the heaviest of Modern Metal production, with a slick pop vocal production that wouldn’t
sound out of place amongst either genre. This cemented the feel for exactly what we were aiming to
achieve and perfectly describes the final product we achieved. I believe this is sonically the best work
we have produced to date and I am excited to show the world what we have to offer.” – Mikey Page
“Prior to recording with Oz I didn’t really have any experience tracking vocals apart from doing a
cover here and there with some friends. I ended up demoing the tracks for this release remotely, using
a cheap USB mic and free audio software barely having a clue to what I was doing so going to Hidden
Track Studios was an awesome experience. I truly feel that Oz brought out the best of my potential
and we can’t wait for people to hear what’s been produced!” – Oli Duncanson

Axel Rudi Pell new album ‘Diamonds unlocked II’ out on 30th july 2021

German hard rock guitar wizard AXEL RUDI PELL has finished recording and mixing his
latest album “Diamonds Unlocked II”, set for release on July 30th 2021 on
Steamhammer/SPV. The successor to last year’s top 5 album “Sign Of The Times” is the
follow-up to his 2007 cover recording “Diamonds Unlocked”. Pell’s carefully considered
decision not to release brand-new material for the first time in almost 15 years is mainly
based on the ongoing pandemic and current restrictions on live concerts. The 61-year-old
explains that “it makes no sense at all to put out new songs that we will not be able to
perform live.” But fans desperately waiting for a new studio album will have to acknowledge
that this kind of solution is a pretty good one indeed! PELL had been flirting with the concept
of “Diamonds Unlocked II” for two or three years, and he’s also aware of the vast number of
cover versions currently floating on the Internet, which he sees as a challenge. Of course it
depends on the selection and variety of the material, but first and foremost it is the
transformation of each individual track that matters. The result is so outstanding that PELL is
justly proud of his latest offering. “Without patting myself on the back too loudly – this is an album worth listening to from start to finish.” Instead of delivering every single note so that it
sounds exactly like the original, a cover album should, above all, be fun. And entertain and
inspire the listener, an audio algorithm which makes you get out the original versions or the
whole back catalogue of the artists presented. In this respect, “Diamonds Unlocked II” is an
offer that no self-respecting hard rock fan can refuse. It all starts with the only original
composition on the recording, a typical ARP intro entitled “Der Schwarze Abt”. “I like intros
which prepare you for the atmosphere of the songs that follow.” Setting the tone is a
blistering version of Sammy Hagar’s “There’s Only One Way To Rock” (1982), “a perfect
song” where PELL uses Van Halen’s live version during the solo, playing both Eddie Van
Halen and Sammy Hagar’s solos but in his own style. His admiration of another guitar hero,
namely Ritchie Blackmore, is no secret, so what we get is one of the most underrated tunes
from the Ronnie James Dio-fronted Rainbow line-up: “Lady Of The Lake” from the “Long Live
Rock’n’Roll” album (1978). “Rainbow never played that song live, for whatever reason. We
chose the demo version from the deluxe edition and added some typical ARP bits.” Then
ARP goes on to surprise his fans with a great version of Paul Anka’s “She’s A Lady” (bestknown in Tom Jones’s version from in the 1970s). The two Americans in the band, singer
Johnny Gioeli and drummer Bobby Rondinelli, have become huge fans of the ballad, which
has evolved into a straightforward rock number, although they were admittedly a little
sceptical in the beginning. And then back to the 1970s again with Geordie’s semi-hit “Black
Cat Woman” (1973), brilliantly redone with plenty of new verve and combined with Brian
Johnson‘s rerecording from 1989. Tony Carey, one of Rainbow’s former keyboardists (and a
friend of Axel’s), had a huge hit in Germany in 1988 with his classic soundtrack ballad “Room
With A View”, which PELL has now adopted as if it was one of his own compositions. Same
thing with Chris Norman’s hit “Sarah (You Take My Breath Away)”, first out in 1987: PELL
has charted new territories, putting in fewer keyboards and more ARP drive. One of the
biggest surprises is without a doubt “Rock’N’Roll Queen” by British indie rock band The
Subways (2005), a number you wouldn’t expect to find on an ARP record. “I’ve always liked
the song and happened to hear it on TV a few weeks back. We reduced the punk attitude a
bit and turned it into a heavy rock anthem.” There are plenty of versions of the Rolling Stones
classic “Paint It Black”, however none of them refers to Deep Purple’s 1993 live version, as
performed during Blackmore’s final tour. “I needed to do this track in ARP style, so the Purple
version fits perfectly.” “I Put A Spell On You” (Screamin‘ Jay Hawkins, 1956) is the oldest
number on the album, CCR’s version being the best-known adaptation. “It’s influenced me
big-time. I added a solo which was inspired by late Free guitarist Paul Kossoff. It’s my
favourite solo on this record.” One more highlight comes at the end: a stomping, thundering
heavy rock adaption of the ABBA classic “Eagle”, which sees ARP in top form and leaves
fans hankering for the next studio album featuring original material, scheduled for a release
in spring 2022. We can’t wait!

01) Der Schwarze Abt (Intro)
I´m always using short Intros to my albums. It gets you in the right mood to
listen to the complete work. This one has nothing to do with the German movie
of the same name, it´s a song I wrote myself.
02) There´s Only One Way To Rock
One of my favored Sammy Hagar tunes, wild and energetic! I also like the Van
Halen Live version, but I didn´t want to compete with Eddie here, because
there was only one Eddie Van Halen! R.I.P.
03) Lady Of The Lake
Very underrated track by the DIO fronted Rainbow. Melodic and mystical at the
same time, always liked this song!

04) She’s A Lady
Written by Paul Anka, but best known by Tom Jones. Don´t know why, but this
song follows me from the 1970ies on. Our version starts as a ballad and
continues as a punchy Rock track.

05) Black Cat Woman
I grew up in the 1970ies and listened to Geordie too. Brian Johnson was a great
vocalist even back in the days before joining AC/DC! There are 2 original
versions of that track, so I decided to have the best snippets out of both!

06) Room With A View One of my favorite Tony Carey songs. First heard it in a German TV movie and
liked it from the start. Was a huge Hit back in the 80ies. Very strong melody!

07) Sarah (You Take My Breath Away)
What? Chris Norman… really? Yes!!! I always liked this song. It has a strong riff
and a great melody!
08) Rock `n´Roll Queen
Heard the original song by The Subways a few years ago and liked it
immediately! Being a little punky, but has a very catchy chorus. We transferred
it to a more “Minor” ARP style attitude.
09) Paint It Black
Does this world really need another cover version? YES! Everybody knows this
song by the Rolling Stones, which has a great melody and structure. I also liked
the extended version of Deep Purple from their 1993 shows, so we combined
both arrangements into a powerful ARP symbiosis!

10) I Put A Spell On You
The original done by Screamin Jay Hawkins is a bit weird to my ears, but people
love it, because it´s that weird! I always favored the Creedence Clearwater
Revival version over that original, so we did it close to that. For me this track
has a special feeling and sometimes takes me back to the beginning of the
70ies.

11) Eagle
One of my alltime favorite songs by ABBA. Great lyrical message for being
“free”and a great melody!

FREAKSTORM – Storm Inside My Heart releazed on 25.06.2021

To release their own album – something FREAKSTORM could never have dreamed
of a few years ago, for singer Sinah Meier and drummer Olli Fuchs were starting
as a tribute project. But in the meantime they were becoming a band that
establishes itself in the newcomer scene with its own songs.
As an appetizer for the album, FREAKSTORM send the propulsive title track “Storm
Inside My Heart” to radio/media.
The first song recorded by FREAKSTORM in 2016 was a cover of the US group
Halestorm. The goal to hand this track over to their idols personally (which indeed
happened), gave Sinah and Olli the motivation to record their own songs. The first
EP “We Got The Fire” was recorded and released in 2018.
2019 followed the internationally released EP “From Zero” which was the product of
a new era for FREAKSTORM: On the one hand the band began to work with
producer Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69/Helloween). He supported the band to
develop a rich rock sound – a strong fundament for Sinah’s powerful and clear
voice. On the other hand FREAKSTORM since then cooperates with the German
label Major Promo Music regarding all digital releases. In May 2019 the successful
single “Can’t Keep Me Down” was released this way and at the same time
FREAKSTORM started to shoot their own music videos.
The EP “From Zero” also came as a physical CD onto the market and draw great
attention in the scene: Reviews in rock magazines, radio plays around the globe
and the jump in the Alaskan (!) charts.
Sinah und Olli worked successfully with alternating musicians. At the latest
recording session at the Kangaroo Studios (Karlsdorf-Neuthard) their producer
Dennis Ward played the bass on all tracks and Oliver Hartmann (Avantasia/
Hartmann) contributed the guitars for three tracks.
FREAKSTORM used the preceding corona break for intensive songwriting. This pays
off: The musicians officially come back with refined arrangements and a matured
sound. On August 27th 2021 the album “Storm Inside My Heart” with nine tracks
will be released – digitally AND physically with a digipack CD.

the five hundred new album ‘a world on fire’

A World On Fire is out on July 30th, 2021 via Long Branch Records

-album concept
As the world closed its frontiers, boarded up their cities, and locked themselves inside, The Five
Hundred closed themselves off from the rest of society for 6 months to write their follow up to the
hugely successful and critically acclaimed debut, Bleed Red.
The album focuses on a morbid theme of environmental devastation, rising sea levels, climate
disaster, and the ensuing loss of entire ecosystems, cities and millions of human lives. A subject that
is particularly close to their hearts, guitarist & lyricist Mark Byrne passionately talks about the band’s
inspiration behind the album…
“The environmental catastrophe that is headed our way will cause more deaths than COVID-19 and
the solution will be far more complicated than a simple vaccine. We are all lost our shit during this
pandemic, but what’s coming next is so fucked up, we won’t know what hit us. We are simply not
ready for this.”
“We normally revel in ambiguity, and believe in leaving room for interpretation. Spoon feeding our
listeners has never really been our style, but for this record we felt the need to be blunt and direct.”

1 BLACK DOGS
A song about isolation and the plague of mental health, which spreads through society
like a contagion of anxiety, paranoia and suicidal ideations.
Vocalist John Woods-Eley speaks of the personal mental torment that inspired him to write
him to write the track… “When you are suffering from mental health issues, you are
completely alone in your head, standing on the edge, descending into the darkness. No
one can jump inside you and help you fight your demons… you’re just on your own. We
live on a beautiful planet but an ugly world, surrounded by breath-taking beauty, but all
we want to do is set it on fire… that depresses, terrifies and angers me in equal measures.
Look around us at what we have created. Plagues, floods, and fires. You can’t make this
shit up, it’s fucking biblical!“

2 THE RISING TIDE

2020 The year people are literally dying to forget. But as humanity struggles to cope with
the effects of this pandemic, the fact remains that we’re teetering upon the precipice of
something far, far worse. Never a band to shy away from the inconvenient truth, The
Rising Tide is the second single released from The Five Hundred’s upcoming sophomore
album, via Long Branch Records. And as this sonic monster-in-the-making begins its long
sweep towards our proverbial ragged shores, guitarist Mark Byrne is ready to drag the
waters – and reveal the inspiration behind the track.
“The environmental catastrophe that is headed our way will cause more deaths than
COVID-19 and the solution will be far more complicated than a simple vaccine. We are all
losing our shit at this pandemic, but what’s coming next is so fucked up, we won’t know
what hit us. We are simply not ready for this. It’s not as bad as you think – it’s much,
MUCH worse. Up until now, the scientific, political and even public discourse has focused
on increasing temperatures – degrees Celsius. In the next few years, we will talk about it
in terms of meters of sea level rise. Life as we know it, will not be the same, and we are
just letting it play out in front of our very own eyes. That depresses me beyond belief, so
I had to write about it. We are sinking in a deep blue hell. Many of the people and places
we know and love, will be dragged out to the sea. Sit back and enjoy the horror show,
because it’s your apocalypse, and you fucking paid for it. Hop on for the ride.”

3 OUR DEMISE
I remember reading a paper about how people can pass away simply because they’ve
given up. Life has beaten them and they feel defeat is inescapable.
It was a study by researchers about the “clinical markers” for ‘give-up-itis’, a crude term
used to describe what is known medically as psychogenic death. It usually follows a
trauma from which a person thinks there is no escape, making death seem like the only
rational outcome. If not arrested, death usually occurs three weeks after the first stage of
withdrawal.
The researcher quoted: “Psychogenic death is real. It isn’t suicide, it isn’t linked to
depression, but the act of giving up on life and dying usually within days, is a very real
condition often linked to severe trauma.”It’s a subject matter that triggers thoughts, perhaps analogously, that we are experiencing
a societal or ecological version of this. We have given up on ourselves, and we have just
accepted that this is the only, inevitable conclusion, to fade away, wide-eyed and
hopeless.
As a society we swing from the opposite ends of the pendulum, of environmental activism,
which society bizarrely labels as ‘extremism” to the flaccid apathy of “middle-of-the-road
Joe Public”, who questions whether any of this is even real. We don’t need two polar
opposites to war with each other, we need the middle ground to get the fuck in the water
and learn to swim.
We haven’t decided if this song is about fighting on or giving up… I guess we’ll let the
listener decide…

4 THE WARMTH
Humans are a strange species. When we see chaos, we seek to find patterns in the mess.
It’s almost as if we cannot handle the instability, so we need to come up with crackpot
ideas about secret societies planning this mess.
This song is about conspiracy theories, and how we prefer to believe in them than in the
truth, because we can’t face the cold, hard facts.

5 WALLS OF JERICHO
It’s fair to say that not a single one of us in the band is religious, but the biblical battle of
Jericho bears some significance… in that it reminds us that our enemy cannot be defeated
with physical weapons, but rather by a crowd of loud voices.

6 YOUR APOCALYPSE
“A grave to bury all our shame inside”… sets the tone for this bleak depiction of the hell
we are creating for ourselves.
It’s a grim image of what our world is fast becoming. Oceans on fire… Giant storms
colliding… You paid for the seat, but you’re only going to use the edge of it. Here is Your
Apocalypse, jump on for the ride.

7 WITH SCARS
Why did I feel like writing this song? We talk about the impact of the world’s climate going
to shit, extreme natural disasters wiping out entire towns and villages and that is scary
enough. Now imagine that the ones that will feel the impact are disproportionately the
people who already live in abject poverty. Yeah, some rich fuckers in London, Manhattan,
and Miami are gonna be “inconvenienced”, but it’s the people who are already in the slums
that will be hit the hardest, ‘cos they’ll have no place to hide.

8 OUR CURSE
By far the angriest song on the album, and if you still don’t know what we are angry about,
then you haven’t been paying attention! Our hatred for you is as pure as it is loud…

9 AGONY
Nothing makes you come to terms with your own mortality more than holding your child in
your arms for the first time.
When I first held her, the stark realisation that one day I’ll be gone, and I have to prepare
this human for life when I am no longer there to protect her. That hit me like a brick wall,
and it scared the shit out of me. At a moment when I should have been the happiest man
on the planet, I felt the black dogs walking behind me.
The song deals with the Agony of anxiety and depression, a recurring theme throughout
my lyrics, because, guess what? It’s been a recurring theme throughout my life. If you
don’t face it and confront it head on, it can swallow you up. Sometimes it can creep on
you because of external factors… Sometimes it is of my own making. If I don’t sort my shit
out, I can effectively become the architect of my own self destruction.

10 A WORLD ON FIRE
The concept for the title track and for the album itself, was borne out of sheer frustration,
at our inability to deal with the crisis. A global problem needs a global solution, and whilst
we watch the apocalypse slowly unravel, we continue to war with each other, weep into
the ocean, and breathe in the flames.
In the end we will scream for redemption, and regret the mess we made, but by that point
it will be too late.

ARTWORK CONCEPT from Giannis
” I fell for the band’s concept from the very first minute. These
lads are touching subjects that are important for ours and our
children’s future. These topics should not be ignored and the
fact the album is dedicated to them made me happy to be
involved with on it. Regarding the art, I wanted a more iconic
approach. Less realistic, less detailed and as much
personalized as possible.
The main idea of the man having his hands around the planet
was given by the band so I had the basic image in my head. I
tried to deliver an unusual piece in terms of aesthetics going a
bit out of my comfort zone. Having the man dissolve and the
planet being on fire, pretty much sums up the idea of our
suffering world. I hope the album finds its way to lots of ears
and open minds and that it works as a gateway to
understanding these important messages. It is in our hands to
keep the planet and our future safe.

The Five Hundred Bio – April 2021
Aggressive yet euphoric, empowering yet simultaneously enslaving, The Five Hundred are renowned
for overcoming adversities and laying siege to every stage they play.
Their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Bleed Red’ told the story of a band struggling with Tourette’s,
OCD, and drug addiction. It’s now the band’s time to share with the world how they’ve battled through
their vices and come out on top.
After successful tours up & down the country, Eastern Europe / Russia & an appearance at the iconic
Download festival in 2019, the quintet are back and angrier than ever with their follow up album.
May 2020, and only a few months into the pandemic, we saw the release of their first single, Black
Dogs, a song about isolation and the plague of mental health, which spreads through society like a
contagion of anxiety, paranoia and suicidal ideations.
As the world closed its frontiers, boarded up their cities, and locked themselves inside, The Five
Hundred closed themselves off from the rest of society for 6 months to write their sophomore album.
The album’s second, The Rising Tide, gave a glimpse into what will become a central theme to the
band and their music in this coming cycle: Environmental devastation, rising sea levels, climate
disaster, and the ensuing loss of entire ecosystems, cities and millions of human lives.
“The environmental catastrophe that is headed our way will cause more deaths than COVID-19 and
the solution will be far more complicated than a simple vaccine. We are all losing our shit at this
pandemic, but what’s coming next is so fucked up, we won’t know what hit us. We are simply not ready
for this. It’s not as bad as you think – it’s much, MUCH worse. Up until now, the scientific, political and
even public discourse has focused on increasing temperatures – degrees Celsius. In the next few years,
we will talk about it in terms of meters of sea level rise. Life as we know it, will not be the same, and
we are just letting it play out in front of our very own eyes. That depresses me beyond belief, so I had
to write about it. We are sinking in a deep blue hell. Many of the people and places we know and love,
will be dragged out to the sea. Sit back and enjoy the horror show, because it’s your apocalypse, and
you fucking paid for it. Hop on for the ride.”
The album concept weaves through various aspects of a generation-defining crisis, from flood to
furnace… A fitting soundtrack for the coming apocalypse.

defocus new album ‘in the eye of death we are all the same’ out 2nd july

With the upcoming release of »In The Eye Of Death We Are All The Same«, DEFOCUS enters the Metal
scene with a record full of heavy, low tuned songs, where they dive deep into the progression of the
world we are living in and how we are all affected by it. Founded by Simon Müller, Jeffrey Uhlmann,
Jonas Mahler and Marcel “Bambam” Heberling, DEFOCUS spent time making music together before
coming to light in early 2019, instantly proving their worth in the scene with their energetic live shows.
Exceedingly low guitars and driving rhythms, paired with dark and ambient melodies create a melancholic
atmosphere that characteristically stands for the thrilling sound represented on their new record. With
songs like ‚Thought Of A Vision‘ or ‚Can You See Me?‘ DEFOCUS shows what they are capable of,
combining their very own diverse style and aggressive vocals, to create catchy, yet energizing heavy songs
to delight fans of different metal genres. Faced with the global COVID-19 pandemic, DEFOCUS got to work
on their material through countless extensive late-night online sessions, allowing every member to
contribute their individual ideas and emotions.
„I remember that when we started to write all these songs, everyone was on the same page from the
beginning and we knew exactly which direction we want to go, but at the same time everyone took
inspiration from different sources. Seeing all these songs finally come together in the end makes me super
happy, because the writing process and everything around it really defined who we are as a band and
resulted in a record everyone in the band can 100% identify with.“ – Jeffrey
While the pandemic was still in full swing, all tracks were recorded remotely from home while Christoph
Wieczorek from Sawdust Recordings took care of the mix and master, that really matches the crushing
and impulsive sound of modern metalcore.
„Await hell and heaven to open the gates, bury the masses in a common grave. Regardless of ranks and
positions, IN THE EYE OF DEATH WE ARE ALL THE SAME“ from the track ‚Common Grave‘ perfectly
represents the overall theme and mood of the album.
„Mankind still tends to be living an egoistic lifestyle and there’s probably a reason why we’re not
considered as ‘social’ beings. With this being said while the world turns upside down and everything seems
to get worse and worse, everyone will die alone in the end.“ – Simon

THE AWAKENING release new Album “This Alchemy”

The Awakening’s 10th album “This Alchemy” will officially release next week. The album features 10 new original compositions, along with a powerful rendition of the Alphaville classic “A Victory Of Love.”

Nyte says about the first single from the album:

“Zero Down is about the posthumous exploitation of ‘rockstars’ – something that has been happening since the dawn of rock ’n roll. It’s a song I wrote many years ago, and I am delighted to finally share it with the world, in all of its irreverent reverence.”

Based in the U.S., The Awakening is a musical project born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in the late ’90s. Ashton Nyte has released seven critically acclaimed solo albums and has collaborated on various projects with members of The Cure, The Mission, Bauhaus, and many more. “This Alchemy” follows less than a year after frontman Ashton Nyte released his solo album and book of poetry and short stories, Waiting For A Voice.

“I think the 36-date European tour I completed with Wayne Hussey in late 2019 re-ignited my drive to create more art and stay connected with those who kindly support my work. This Alchemy is, in many ways, a new creative chapter for The Awakening. It occupies a different space to both “Waiting For A Voice” and “Chasm” which I think satisfies the growth and diversity essential for an artist,” says Nyte of the new release.

We all know that experience is one of the most valuable resources of an artist. That
irreplaceable talent of distinguishing the significant from the insignificant and always
operating with perfect timing rather than being guided by nervous impatience easily
balances out youthful enthusiasm and a penchant for experimentation. Hanover rock
act Fargo, comprising founder and bassist ´Fargopedda` Knorn, vocalist/guitarist
Peter Ladwig, who joined the fold a little later, and drummer Nikolas Fritz (Mob
Rules), has that experience and has once again deployed it: Three years after their
comeback album CONSTELLATION (2018), 25 June 2021 will see the arrival of the
group’s new (sixth) album STRANGERS D´AMOUR, proving that the band’s name
has long become a trademark in its own right.
A trademark with a few innovations, that is: True to the motto “reduce to the max”,
STRANGERS D´AMOUR presents Fargo as a trio. The essence of Fargo, consisting of Knorn, Ladwig and Fritz, had already featured on CONSTELLATION and has now
recorded eleven new songs in spring 2021, composed by Peter Ladwig and – with
two exceptions – written by Peter Knorn. “Compared to CONSTELLATION,
STRANGERS D´AMOUR sounds even more mature and rounded, with our typically
driving beats and lots of melodious chorus parts, but also with a few little surprises
thrown in,” Knorn explains. “‘Gimme That Bone’ and ‘Why Don´t You’ have Ladwig
play a Hammond organ and Fender Rhodes, as well as his guitar. And few previous
Fargo recordings match the speed of ‘Rain Of Champagne’!”
Other than that, STRANGERS D´AMOUR consists of Fargo’s familiar laid-back rock
music, that characteristic classic rock that Fargo have been known and loved for
since 1973. The six-minute ‘Time’, for example, looks back at the late 1970s and
brings to mind other Hanover acts such as Eloy and Jane, albeit stylistically more
straightforward. Knorn: “At the same time, our songs have a common thread that
links not only the new numbers but all our records: Ladwig‘s characteristic vocal style
and his distinct sense of melody are simply unmistakable.” Not to forget Knorn‘s
intelligent and frequently mocking lyrics, this time about illegal liquor distillers (‘Mary
Says’), the fight between two poodles over a bone or sex in a car (‘Car Expert’), but
also critical statements about environmental breakdown (‘Closer To The Sun’) and
even references to Goethe’s play, ‘Faust’.
STRANGERS D´AMOUR is complemented by its cover artwork featuring the three
band members’ faces in a jungle guise, as if they’d just sprung from a primeval forest.
Says Knorn: “The front cover stands for the wild and primal in all of us. Or the
animalistic element, perhaps the ability to see into the future. To recognise these
elements and to live in harmony with them, that’s what we wanted to convey with the
album title.”
The members of Fargo have always been in harmony with each other. As a
predecessor of the globally successful hardrock band Victory, which Knorn founded
in 1984 and disbanded in 2011 following their outstanding success in Europe and the
US, Fargo is one of the most distinguished German rock acts of the early 1980s.
Their debut album WISHING WELL was released in 1979, followed by three studio
recordings on EMI by 1982. Fargo have repeatedly toured all over Europe, played
with some of the greatest rock bands worldwide, touring with the likes of AC/DC,
Mothers Finest and The Small Faces, among others, and also featured on German
TV channel ZDF’s “Rock Pop”. Even Europe’s biggest teen magazine BRAVO
devoted two full pages to Knorn and his spectacular stage performance in January
1981 (part of his nightly show at that time was a legendary headfirst somersault).
After a hiatus of 34 years, Fargo returned in autumn 2017 and went on to release
their comeback album CONSTELLATION one year later. STRANGERS D´AMOUR is
the latest of six releases by a band that is once again a force to be reckoned with, in
the studio as well as live on stage.

one morning left – new album ‘hyperactive’ out: 21.may 2021

With their fourth album, the Finnish metalcore act ONE MORNING LEFT ends a five-year-long pause in releasing new material.

On »Hyperactive« the group begins a whole new chapter in their story, drawing inspiration from retro electronic- and video game music, as well as 80’s hard rock, while staying true to their heavier roots.

Changes are happening not only in the musical style, but also in the lineup. Returning from the cast of 2016’s “Metalcore Superstars” are frontman Mika Lahti, singer-guitarist Leevi Luoto and drummer Niko Hyttinen. Additional firepower is provided by new faces Tuukka Ojansivu on guitar and Miska Sipiläinen on bass guitar, as well as the return-to-form of keyboard player Touko Keippilä from the band’s original “Panda <3 Penguin” lineup. The album shapes up to be the artistic peak of One Morning Left’s musical “blood mountain”: epic lyrics carried by Luoto’s soaring vocal melodies, contrasted by the distinctive, gritty sound of Lahti, all accompanied by breathtaking keyboard leads, blisteringly fast guitars, masterful bass riffs and feverish drum parts.

The title, “Hyperactive”, reflects both the musical and the lyrical content on the album, which can be seen as a critique of modern life.

Attention spans are shortened by a flood of information, making everything and everyone hyperactive.

The lyrics deal with such topics as depression, mania, overcoming addiction, love, hate, and stress.

These issues are observed through a prism of sci-fi and dystopian themes running throughout the album. “I was heavily inspired by old school heavy metal lyrics by bands such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, as well as sci-fi movies and TV-series, like Black Mirror, to use fantasy as a vessel to process such heavy topics,” lyricist Leevi Luoto notes.

The songwriting process was a long and challenging one, with some tracks being started as early as 2017, but remaining unfinished until the band was strengthened by bass player Sipiläinen and keyboardist Keippilä in late 2018.

After that everything seemed to just fall into place: the band’s new, now recognizable sound, was found quickly and the process sped up with the album being finished in early 2020.

The album starts off with a bang with “Ruby Dragon”, a song about self-improvement, overcoming depression and becoming the best version of yourself. “Mika wanted a song about the board game ”Labyrinth” so I adapted that to the themes above and had a great time writing this, even though the inspirations are.. heavy,” Luoto explains. Keyboardist Touko Keippilä continues: “Ruby Dragon was the culmination point in the album writing process, as it perfectly encapsulates what we aspire our new musical style to be like. Groovy, heavy riffs and clean, glistening synthwork providing a platform for the two vocalists to deliver their lines with a raw and wild energy.”

The following track, “Neon Highway”, is a hyperactive love song full of pure chaos and fury, thoroughly resonating with the album title. As told by Leevi Luoto: “This is a straight up love song. MAD love. Also functions as the landscape-painter of the album, describing the world we’re singing about.”

Continuing the barrage of fast-paced tracks is party anthem “Sinners Are Winners”, a love letter to 80’s hard rock. Lyrically the song is a parody of the party hard lifestyle and rock’n’roll clichés. “I f****ng love the 80’s and wanted to mix those guitar mannerisms with metalcore, creating one of the most fun songs to bang your head to,” Luoto says.

Making a guest appearance with a face-melting guitar solo is producer/guitarist Joonas Parkkonen (SANTA CRUZ, LOST SOCIETY, APOCALYPTICA). Presenting a heavier and darker side of One Morning Left, “Drowned God” offers a unique take on modern metal music.

As the first song written for the album, with some parts dating as far back as 2008, the lyrics are heavily influenced by singer Leevi Luoto’s childhood. “I was super bullied as a kid, the feelings and power-fantasies of those days were the inspiration when writing this,” he explains.

Taking a completely different direction is “CREATVRES”, a danceable rock song about unity and empowerment. Groovy drum beats, heavy guitars, and bright synths create a solid backdrop for the two vocalists to shine over. “A gem of modern music,” as remarked by bassist Miska Sipiläinen, “CREATVRES” is definitely the one of poppier tracks in the band’s catalogue. “Can’t wait to see which ice hockey team adopts this as their theme song!”, Keippilä adds.

Bringing the album back to it’s speedy tracks, “Live, Laugh, Love” takes a stab at the facade of fake smiles on social media. The breathtakingly aggressive and emotional delivery of Mika Lahti takes center stage, supported by a bombardment of guitar-shredding and drummer Niko Hyttinen’s blast beats. “Full blast, no chill, just punches you in the face. That’s what I like,” Hyttinen summarizes.

With “Ruthless Resistance” ONE MORNING LEFT takes the listener on an adventure through a landscape of sci-fi and fantasy clichés in an effort to save a crew member from peril. Starting out with Ojansivu’s thrash metal-inspired guitar riffs, the song builds up to a monumental crescendo with the entire band joining up in a grand chorus. “We wanted to capture the childlike, adventurous feeling of this song. The lyrics are about friendship and trying to destroy the ”big evil” in a very Star Wars-ey kind of way” Luoto says.

Adding to the wide variety of musical styles heard on the album is “Downfall”, a funk and nu-metal inspired track, full of haunted house-esque keyboards, screeching guitars, Sipiläinen’s groovy basslines, a guest appearance by DJ Massimo and even a verse featuring underground rapper OG Ulla-Maija. The song, inspired by the graphic novel “The Killing Joke”, describes a person’s struggle coping with constant stress, depression, and anxiety. “The lyrics on this one hit the closest to home for me. Having suffered from anxiety and depression, screaming along to ”Will I ever be whole again?” sends a shiver down my spine every time,” Touko Keippilä comments.

With “Worry Less, Dance More” the band’s love for fast-paced progressive metal and alt-rock really shines through. “Probably the most fun song to play on the album. Fast tempo, absolute killer riffs, precise picking, total perfection!” Miska Sipiläinen narrates. Mika Lahti continues: “This has been one of my favorites since the demo stage. Leevi’s very topical lyrics are a take on today’s influencer culture: everyone considers themselves a “Cyber-Gandhi”, but few are able to live up to their projected standards.”

Acting as the album’s grand finale, the titular “Hyperactive” presents a ferocious amalgamation of hardcore riffing and Keippilä’s synthwave arrangements. The song squeezes out the last drops of energy one has left after listening to the album. “When creating the track, it became very clear that this will be the last song on the album. “Hyperactive” is fabricating an illusion of closure, while being a powerful and entertaining cliff-hanger for our upcoming material,” guitarist Tuukka Ojansivu illustrates. Absolutely packed with immense frustration and sadness, the album’s conclusion functions as a yang to “Ruby Dragon”’s yin, summing up the album both musically and lyrically. The vocalists’ intense delivery grants authority to the song’s message of self-examination and rebellion.

With »Hyperactive« released in May of 2021 by ARISING EMPIRE, ONE MORNING LEFT looks to add to their growing global fan base. Having gathered extensive live performance experience playing countless shows in Finland, touring mainland Europe, Russia, and the Baltics, and even performing in places such as Iceland and Japan, the group is planning on taking their entertaining and energetic live show on the road in the near future.

thecityisours new single ‘coma’

Following the release of the powerfully cathartic ‘Violent’ and the introduction of new vocalist Oli Duncanson, THECITYISOURS announce their highly anticipated new album with its title-track ‘COMAout now. The album is set for release on 22nd October 2021 via Arising Empire.
There is a palpable sense of loss that ties together the band’s sophomore offering. TCIO tackles the passing of loved ones, relationships, even personal sovereignty, and self-control head-on. However, juxtaposed against their vibrant and fresh feeling, pop-centric arrangements, expertly interwoven with infectious hooks and crushing riffs; »COMA« breathes a perfect balance, radiating an underlying sense of positivity and resilience through an otherwise dark concept.
»COMA« will be available as CD and special limited coloured vinyl!

“COMA is an honest account of how I was feeling trying to understand why I was spiraling into a void,” expresses TCIO founding member Mikey Page. “I wrote the song as a method of coping and catharsis. It embodies a period of self-loathing where, the love I had, no matter how strong, was not enough to save an important relationship.” Page recounts. “I wanted to produce an honest account, showing that it’s okay to be vulnerable, and to encourage others to speak up and take positive action instead of internalising them and struggling alone.”

Watch ‘COMA‘ now here: https://youtu.be/aLKpCZxDnUk

»COMA« was recorded, engineered, and mixed by long-time collaborator Oz Craggs (FEED THE RHINO, NECK DEEP, MALLORY KNOX) at Hidden Track Studios and mastered by Ermin Hamidovic (ARCHITECTS, PERIPHERY, NORTHLANE) at Systematic Productions.‘

Following the departure of long-standing vocalist Sam Stolliday (full statement HERE), the band unexpectedly found
themselves in unknown territory. 12 months on, they are back with the introduction of new vocalist Oli Duncanson and ready to welcome a brand new era of TCIO. Oli recounts “I remember being shown some demos of some new songs prior to Sam’s departure and absolutely loving the direction and progression of the band’s sound… so as soon as Mikey told me about the opening in the band, I knew I had to take a chance!” Page adds “Oli has been a part of our team for a long time. He is a very well respected entity in his own right amongst the music scene. We’d seen snippets of his capabilities over the years, so when he registered an interest in becoming a part of CITY, we knew we had to explore…and we clicked instantly.”

RED MECCA release new album “Away”

The electronic duo’s sixth album after their most successful year: “AWAY”
Not here. Dreams of being somewhere else.
A commentary to the contemporary.
To the dread of 2020 and everything breaking down. Sometimes darker than ever before. Sometimes
ambient driven electropop tunes. Sampled pile drivers. Held together with dark wave atmosphere. All
the time outside the frameworks and in perpetual motion. This is us. 2021. Hopeful in spite of
darkness.
Watch the video by Red Mecca – Runaway With Me here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NXmWAR_alo
Jan Strandqvist, keyboards and music in Red Mecca, states about the new album:
“One positive thing the unexpected jigsaw puzzle of life last year came to be, was that me and
Susanne slipped into an overwhelming creativity of creating music when the live performances came
to a halt, and we found the expression and communication through the music we were looking for. We
stepped up and the flow was a lifebuoy.”
And more than well, Red Mecca survives even in times like these – with “Away” the electronic duo
writes another epic chapter after receiving the Manifest Award, being on some of the most central
scenes at some of Europe’s biggest festivals in the genre and not least, last year a sync in the
awesome BBC series “Killing Eve”.
“The album AWAY is our commentary to the harsh reality of 2020. And it´s in our opinion a diverse
canvas we´ve been painting. It´s been a year of new heights of oppression as well, from world leaders,
not just a pandemic roaring throughout the world. We´re very proud of what we´ve created and we´re
very much in constant progression and forward motion. And I think that we´re just in a startup mode.
There´s so much more to come. But now, our greatest wish is to be able to come out and play live
again, all our new material, throughout Europe.”
And vocalist Susanne Jonsson adds: “Trapped at home, afraid of meeting others I made my own
livestory on an album. Like living the dream in a fantasy. Making up stories, reading history and
making my own future in front of the microphone. Jan’s music makes imagination flow and the music
inspired me to build life stories. It could have been me, in another lifetime.”
The album “Away” is released on 30th of April via Massproduktion Sweden.

die krupps – new album ‘songs from the dark side of heaven’

out at the 28th of mai 2021

The mothership of German industrial/metal crossover strikes again. Since 1980, Jürgen
Engler, Ralf Dörper and their various comrades-in-arms have shaped the
alternative/electronic music scene like no other band, especially through the sophisticated
combination of the two styles “industrial” and “metal” that they created in the 1990s and that
didn’t even exist before. Countless other acts have since adapted this style, which was
invented and launched by this extraordinary band.
Now it’s time for DIE KRUPPS to pay tribute to their own heroes – and to do that, what could
be better than an album filled to the brim with cover versions in typical DIE KRUPPS electro
metal style? But see and hear for yourself, the men around Jürgen Engler have subjected
real gems to their “treatment”:

left hand solution the cult doom metal band from sweden is back again

Left Hand Solution just released their first single “First Day Of Winter” on the actual first day of winter and
winter solstice: on the 21st of December 2020. The first out “First Day Of Winter” is taken off the upcoming
album to be released in 2021.

Drummer and songwriter Erik Barthold about the song:
”I remember starting to write the song “First Day Of Winter” as the first snow fell in the year of 2002. Little did I
imagine that it would take another 18 years for it to be fully completed! The song was finished this summer in
a hot recording studio, but of course, we had to wait until the winter solstice for this release. Sorry, that we’ve
kept you waiting, but here it finally is in its full winter dress.”
What made Left Hand Solution always special was their combination of hard riffs, dark melodies, and Mariana
Frykman’s dark and beautiful voice. Being one of the early metal band with a female vocalist their influence
has been largely overlooked and their cult following has grown quite a lot lately.
And now, it’s time for a new album and a new development for the band. The new Album “Dead of Winter” is
scheduled for April 16th, 2021.

Left Hand Solution formed in 1991, released 3 albums and toured Europe, US and Canada, and made a large
impression with their unique take on Doom metal for more than 10 years. Then the band just faded away.
Until 2019, when they suddenly released – the in secrecy recorded album – “Through The Mourning Woods”.
An updated version of Left Hand Solution’s sweet nightmare that combined sounds from their early doom
days and goth elements of their later days and put it all in a new context. The band has been resurrected for
very successful local gigs several times during the last years, but it was not until Erik and original guitarist
Joakim became neighbors that things starting to really happen. Suddenly they found themselves writing songs
in Erik’s basement and soon Peter and Mariana happily joined in.
Line Up:
Mariana Frykman – Vocals
Joakim Mårdstam – Guitar
Peter Selin – Bass
Erik Barthold – Drums & Backing Vocals

Lowheart ‘Rock Du Jour’ ~ A powerful, aggressive rock assault that never lets up!

LOWHEART is an Australian Rock songwriting and recording duo from Victoria’s southern bayside area, consisting of singer/songwriter/guitarist JASON LOWE, and lead-guitarist/bass player/producer SIMON HART.Lowe also plays harmonica on several songs, and Hart creates all the drum tracks, with the two of them both contributing percussion and backing vocals.

The pair have released four albums, distributed worldwide by CD Baby: The hard-rocking “Act on Impulse”, the Alt-Country set “Long Hard Road”, 2016’s “Lost and Found”, which combined the two styles in a hard-edged Country-Rock sound, and their most recent album “Gravel or Gold”, which features an overall Classic Rock style. All four can be streamed or downloaded via Spotify, AppleMusic, Amazon, GooglePlay, Tidal, Deezer, YouTube, and most other platforms. Lowheart are currently recording two extremely diverse new albums simultaneously: the flat-out Heavy Rock outing “Rock Du Jour”, and a sparse, emotive, acoustic-based set entitled “The Catharsis File”. The duo have even started recording tracks for a pure Classic Rock follow-up to Gravel or Gold, called “Sleeping Dogs Bite”.

Lowheart’s songs have received airplay on ten Victorian radio stations, along with several interviews, as well as online stations in Greece, Spain, and the UK. They have appeared on Channel 31’s Nu Country TV, and many of their songs were featured on the soundtrack of the TV sitcom “Reps”. Their style encompasses elements of Rock, Metal, Punk, Pop, Country, Folk, and Blues, with a focus on strong melodies and hooklines, and powerful guitar and vocal performances.

The new Lowheart album, “Rock Du Jour”, has been two years in the making, and signals a return to the hard-rocking style of their debut set “Act on Impulse”, while taking the heavy sounds of that album further to the extreme – not letting the foot off the pedal for a moment.

After three albums that cover the sphere from alt-country, through country-rock, to the classic rock of 2019’s “Gravel or Gold”, “Rock Du Jour” blends anthemic hard rock, with frenetic punk energy and metal tinges, to create a powerful, aggressive rock assault that never lets up – all driven by Lowheart’s usual strong melodic sensibility, memorable hooks, and crunching guitar riffs. Lowheart’s pure hard rock direction on this album was heralded by the “Opportunity Lost” single – a stand-alone release that preceded the album’s arrival, at the beginning of 2021.

The punchy sound of “Rock Du Jour” aims to inject some gutsy fire-and-balls back into Australian Rock, and wears its hard rock influences proudly on its sleeve.

sons and preachers ‘consuming fire’

„Consuming Fire“ is the latest single from a vintage rock band from North Germany, Sons & Preachers.

Yonatan Pandelaki, the bandleader who also sings and plays the Hammond organ and synth bass simultaneously, is a passionate soul singer with a very distinct bluesy and rock sound.

The Indonesian born combined with Myriam Lemberger on the microphone, whose voice resembles Janis Joplin in her best years, are an explosive mixture. Hence the song title which makes you guess what might come from the four piece band. Opened with the guitar riff from Tobias Lemberger, the twin brother of Myriam, another uniqueness of the band, the song quickly smashes with a strong intro followed by Volker Starr on the drums. Like the other well known Starr drummer – pun intended – Volker has such a big sound. With a german precision yet funky feel the drummer leads the band with his strong beat.

Just by the time the hooks hit you with the powerful duett from Yonatan and Myriam, suddenly the song shifts to a tempo changed funky beat, where you can hear one of the funkiest instruments on the planet, a Hohner Clavinet D6 accompanied by Tobias delicious guitar sound. Before he plays his Solo the song shifts once again to a high paced psychedelic part, before switching back to the previous tempo. The song is a true roller coaster of big rock
guitar riffs, funky drum beats and vocal parts which ended in a big explosion at the end.

The lyrics itself talk about the paradoxes of love. The first line „Love is rough, love is mean“ implies it already and takes you to the depths of the meaning of love.

Sons & Preachers is an experience you have to hear and see for yourself. After being founded in 2018 the band released an album called „Blackstone“ and did an extensive Indonesia Tour in 2019, where they also had a concert in front of more than 20.000 people.

After they found a label called Major Promo Music they released a single titled „Leave Your Hat On“ at late 2020, a year where they could have a second Asian Tour which was cancelled due to Corona pandemic. „Consuming Fire“ is the second release under Major Promo Music. After the first release „Leave Your Hat On“ made its way to many international playlists and radio plays, the band is ready to land another hit.

ANTIHELD – Album »disturbia«

ANTIHELD have released their third and most important album. An album like a film by Scorsese – dark, written on white wine in the isolation of a pandemic. The political porthole of those living in privileges with a view on the misery of apparently infinitely distant people, the self-reflection of human error, the suffocation of fears in excessive intoxication, the reckoning with the church, the confrontation with the death of one’s own manager, right up to Hope for Greta’s supposed salvation of the world and our long-overdue rethink. Insignificant pop music is dead.
»DISTURBIA« Tracklisting:
 01. sommer unseres lebens
 02. motten um licht
 03. my only friend
 04. irgendwo stirbt grad ein kind
 05. himmelblau
 06. standing in line
 07. chaos
 08. alles gute für den winter
 09. oh bitte, mach mich ein letztes mal kaputt
 10. alles nichts
 11. wiegenlied
 12. von schmerz & apotheken

ANTIHELD, originally a band from the streets of Stuttgart. From one day to the next, you suddenly find yourself in the really big major business, shooting both albums in the charts, playing at Southside, Hurricane and co, playing tours with sold-out shows, only to break three years later and remember where you actually come from. To write an album with »disturbia« that has never existed in the German-speaking world.

The first impression of the record label Arising Empire, skeptical, almost critical.

Not enough pop, not enough radio. The second impression; Quote: “This could be the album of the year.”

This development is known by many bands. You are brimming with credibility and you don’t write your music for the money-making anti-art industry. Then you realize that it is getting harder and harder to fill the fridge and jump headfirst into the empty, interchangeable radio landscape. The five Stuttgarters had a similar experience, but the other way around.

After the band crashed into the shark tank with the first big major deal as unexpectedly as violently, the second album »Goldener Schuss« and the associated label change to Arising Empire were followed by a first musical emancipation. Get out of the world of unified pop, towards an album for which there are no predefined target groups. The lyrics deep & bitter, the sound not that of a classic German rock band. A mix of HIGHLY SUSPECT & THRICE, with a bit of Grunge, Punk, and Rap attitude.

Line Up:

Luca Opifanti | Vocals & Gutiar

André Zweifel | Guitar

Matze Brendle | Bass

Sven Fischer | Drums

Henry Kasper | Accordion & Piano

Cro-mags – new album – 2020 – out now

CRO-MAGS 2020 plays out more like a time-capsule playlist to the year rather than a group of individual songs.

The record itself is unintentionally 20 minutes and 20 seconds. CRO-MAGS founder and kingpin Harley Flanagan explains, “Just by coincidence we recorded 20 minutes and 16 seconds of music, so we simply added a few seconds of real-world chaos. The album cover is meant to look like a calendar – 7 squares across, with one picture from 2020 per day. Inside the booklet, there are 12 pictures, one for each month of 2020; and the back is a shot of something I have never seen before in my life – a totally empty New York City. Corona Virus, quarantine, empty streets, brutality, burning buildings, violence, and destruction: 2020 is a year none of us will ever forget.”

The first song, ‘Age of Quarantine’, is about how the year started off, and the global quarantine that had us all locked in our homes, isolated, not working, and afraid to come in contact with other humans for fear of the virus. At the end, you hear NYC’s 7:30 pm healthcare worker support rally where everybody would cheer and make noise from their apartments and down in the streets. I just hung my phone out the window and recorded it.

‘2020’ is about the overall year – all of the madness and how insane it has been for everyone.

‘Life On Earth’ – explains where we’re at 11 months later – the global health crisis and the continued collapse of societies and economies.

‘Violence And Destruction’ – addresses what we are seeing all around us now in this country. It forces us to ask a simple question: “If you don’t agree with someone, does that justify violence against them?”  What if it was your father, your brother or your children on the other side? I myself have people I love dearly who I disagree with on many different topics. Does that make me love them any less? No, and I try to keep that in mind when I don’t agree with others in general. Until people learn how to communicate, there’s not much hope for anyone.

‘Chaos In The Streets’ – self-explanatory regarding mob violence and self-defense. The beliefs of others no longer matter when you are defending your life or the lives of your loved ones.

And ‘Crofusion’ wraps up the year. It was part of a 20-minute freestyle jam we did at the end of the recording session. It’s just total musical chaos ending with the sounds of riot and felt like a perfect expression of this year. It could be likened to a fusion-type assault in the vein of Lenny White or Billy Cobham’s early records- but done hardcore style…total madness and chaos. It’s definitely more funk/fusion than hardcore. Cro-Mags + Confusion = Crofusion!

CRO-MAGS were set to kick-off a world-wide tour starting in NYC on March 15th (with Body Count at Webster Hall). Within 48 hours of the show, quarantine went into effect and the state’s governor and mayor banned all public gatherings. Flanagan goes on to disclose, “We pooled our resources and put together for what was one of the first, if not the first, live quarantine shows on March 15th.” Seen by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, the CRO-MAGS ‘Quarantine Show’ was the beginning of trying to turn an unfortunate situation into something positive. “(Drummer) G-Man was stuck in New York for seven months because of the travel ban, so we started writing songs, and as soon as we were able to get into the studio we started tracking,” Flanagan adds. Recorded at Steve Zing’s (Sam Hain, Danzig) newly launched Trick or Treat Studio, and brought back Arthur Rizk who produced the band’s first full-length album in 20 years, 2019’s In The Beginning.

“Bad things are always going to happen, we have to learn how to pivot and adjust when they do,” Flanagan points out. “Our show got canceled, so we did one online for the world to see. Our tours got canceled, so we recorded an album.”

“After months of confinement, with a political climate unlike any I have ever seen in my lifetime, many have lost their minds and turned on each other. Everything has become polarized and extreme. I am hoping we can take something positive from this experience forward with us into the future. I know I will.”

Siva Six new Digital Single & Video “ Ghost Dance “ Out Now !!!

Greek cult dark elektro / industrial duo SIVA SIX break the silence and invite you to the ultimate “Ghost Dance” and reveal the first song from their much anticipated new studio album. Constructed on the foundations of the 19th century “Gnossienne No1” masterpiece by French avant-garde pianist and composer Erik Satie, this new song expands the haunting atmosphere of the original piece and takes it to a darker and macabre dimension once reflected through the obscure sonic kaleidoscope of SIVA SIX. The tortured dark vocals, the echoing icy piano lines, the oppressive atmosphere and the upbeat electro sequences all contribute to the particular, disturbing and almost deviant setting of this noir song. This single comes with 3 radically different reinterpretations by MACH FOX, CONJECTURE and MYSTICAL PROLETARIAN.  See them…feel them…and “Ghost Dance” with ‘ em…

IMMINENCE»Turn The Light On«Live In Concert Halls

Fronted by vocalist and violinist Eddie Berg, guitarists Harald Barrett & Alex Arnoldsson, drummer Peter Hanström and bass player ChristianHöijer; Imminence announcesa tour like never seen before by band in the metalcore genre.

Following up on the remarkably successful release of Imminence’s third full length album Turn The Light On and the subsequent European headline tour, where the band delivered 11 completely soldout shows and more than 100% increase in overall ticket sales compared to the last tour, Imminence is premiering an exclusive acoustic live act, accompanied by a string quartet and classical elements, performed at seated concert halls in February 2021.

Having developed the unique combination of emotional metalcore and acoustic music, the band’s most recent EP-release Turn The Light On: Acoustic Reimagination, has been greatly appreciated by the constantly growing crowd of faithful Imminence fans, but alsoraised awareness among other music lovers, and found its’ way into several acoustic and indie playlists.

Imminence: Live In Concert Halls will take place in six carefully selected cities and will act as a significant milestone for the band.

The live performance and definition of what a modern metal band can do will be taken to an entirely new level and deliver a completely different concert experience to theaudienceWith the highly acclaimed release of Imminence’s third full length album,Turn The Light On (2019), shortly after accompanied by the acoustic re-imagined versions of the record, an almost completely sold out run ofrelease shows in May 2019 and a placing in the Top 100 Official German Album Charts, Imminence has proven to be one of the most up-and-coming and exciting acts on the market today, and continuing to establish themselves as a new headline act.

Since the release of the bands breakthrough single The Sickness (2015), and previous record This Is Goodbye (2017), the Swedish alternative metalcore act has become one of the country’s most promising exports with the latest album truly distinguishing the diversity and vastness in Imminence’s identity of heartrending emotion.

A significant milestone in the group’s discography and an exceptional composition of sheer force and fragility that fears no boundaries orconstraints.

“The new Imminence album is called ’Turn The Light On’ which encourages to shed light on the darkness we carry within. The lyrical theme ofthe record is inner conflict, self-doubt, de-pression and self-destruction. Music has always been, and now more than ever, an outlet and a way for me to cope with these emotions. This is my testimony to my mental ill-health. It is the most soul-baring, personal and important piece of work we have ever made as a band.”–EddieBerg

One step backwards, two steps forward. With Turn The Light On, Imminence dives right in to themselves and comes up with a collection of songs that covers the wide musical territory that has become associated with the band over the years. The new record mixes the raw-ness of the band’s hard-hitting, unrelenting instrumentation with the grandiosity and class from frontman Eddie Berg’s unmistakable melodies and violin arrangements. Turn The Light On demonstrates a remarkable musical diversity with each and every song being unique in its sound and message, creating a forcefield that embodies the entity that undoubtedly is Imminence.

“It has been two years of incredibly hard work and song writing leading up to Turn The Light On. This album was not about moving forward as much as moving inwards. It was about fin-ding ourselves and showing what Imminence is all about. I believe it encapsulates and defi-nes our sound over these years as a group. The creative process was anything but easy and gave me a lot of time for soul-searching, both musically and personally. Having waded through the darkest time in my mind for the better part of creating these songs and writing these lyrics, the music was the thing I held on to and that kept my head just above the surface long enough to catch my breath. The same way that it became a light in the dark for me, I hope that others may find the same in listening to our songs. That is what this album is, a symbol of hope. I truly think it all comes together as our best release as a band to date.”–EddieBerg

”Even though we worked harder and more intensely than ever before, the writing process has been liberating and unhindered. I could wake up in the morning and feel inspired to write a song with a completely different approach than the one we wrote the day before, and I think bothme and Eddie did our very best to keep our minds open throughout the writing of the album. There were really no rules applied. We actually never had a concrete idea of how we wanted the record to turn out, which was a bit worrying at the time. We had madea huge step in to another musical direction with This Is Goodbye and the road ahead wasunclear. With time, we saw Turn The Light On taking shape right before our eyes and knew that all we had to do was to trust our own instincts and creativity.”–HaraldBarrett

Being As An Ocean
New Single “Catch The Wind”

‘Catch The Wind’ is a deep and intense track for all die-hard fans of the band’s first releases.

Watch the music video here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw_XZAAKjiQ

Being As An Ocean vocalist Joel Quartuccio states:

“Catch The Wind is about the pivot, finding the silver linings in life’s circumstances, and leaning into the winds of change that sweep unexpectedly into our lives.”

The new single sees them explore their post-hardcore roots. Being As An Ocean has an immersive experience with every performance, wrenching catharsis from their post-hardcore punch and ambient excursions. It’s an approach that commands a crowd from the massive festival stages to co-headlining with Counterparts, and headlining Europe’s Impericon Never Say Die! tour. With a steadily building catalogue of moody anthems and textured epics that have earned them millions of global streams.

Being As An Ocean is that rare heavy entity that offers a full experience for the head and the heart. Embracing vibe and spirit, Being As An Ocean stokes the embers that first drove them to make music into a raging inferno of sound and emotion.

LANDMVRKS »Lost In The Waves«

LANDMVRKS’ was born in 2014 in Marseille, France. The band now consists of Florent Salfati on vocals, Rudy Purkart on bass guitar, Nicolas Exposito and Paul C. Wilson on guitars and Kévin D’Agostino on drums. For two years, the band composed songs, recorded and started playing local shows by sharing the bill with bands such as FIRST BLOOD, MORE THAN LIFE and little by little, LANDMVRKS started making a name for themselves in the French metalcore scene. During this time, the band released a few singles and videos to help build up their fan base.

In May 2016, LANDMVRKS released their first album »Hollow« entirely produced by Florent Salfati and Nicolas Exposito. They decided to release this album independently, and went out touring on the roads of Europe to showcase this opus. They seduced their audiences with a modern metalcore style peppered with hardcore riffs and catchy choruses. This album helped secure them slots on big festivals, helping to strengthen their reputation. In 2018, the band signed a contract with Arising Empire Records for their second studio album »Fantasy« and they demonstrate how successfully the band has managed to build their name and assert its own style. During two years, they travelled the world, played in Japan, did some headlines tours and had the opportunity to have great European tours (WHILE SHE SLEEPS, STRAY FROM THE PATH, ANY GIVEN DAY).

While they were on the road, they had the time to focus on a brand new material. The band members gathered together when lockdown ended in France, after one of the strangest periods ever experienced. The time had come for them to assemble, within the vocalist’s studio (Homeless Records), the elements of their 3rd album, fashioned for months. The purpose of this album, entitled »Lost In The Waves«, is clearly not to reinvent LANDMVRKS. The purpose is to fully deploy the band’s arsenal in order to definitively impose its style. An uncompromising style, assumed, claimed, and highly distinctive. The listener goes through massive, energetic, or even aerial parts, without escaping the efficient groove inherited from a rap culture. The musical production of this album is the most accomplished and organic that the group has ever had. The tone was clearly set by ‘Rainfall’, the first single released in early October.

This album shows that instead of getting lost in the waves, the French band firmly holds the helm.

SUZI QUATRO – The Devil In Me

Release date: March 26th, 2021

Format: – CD Digi Pak + Poster – 2LP + 2 Bonustracks, Gatefold, 140g black vinyl, printed inner sleeves

It’s got to be a very special release that has Suzi Quatro announce proudly: “The Devil In Me is the best album in my career to date!” After all, the American rock vocalist would hardly utter such superlatives lightly. Suzi’s enthusiasm for her latest offering has many reasons, twelve of them to be precise. Because The Devil In Me consists of exactly a dozen songs, each of them – from the opening track and title song to the final ‘Motor City Riders’ – a real highlight. The reasons for Suzi’s remarkable creative explosion: on the one hand the lockdown, which kept her from her usual touring life in spring 2020, and on the other another collaboration with her son Richard Tuckey, which had already worked out extremely well on her predecessor album No Control. Suzi: “Starting spring 2020, almost one hundred of my shows were cancelled and Richard would also have been on tour with his band had not all concerts been cancelled or postponed. So I said to him: ‘We should make the most of our free time, write new material and allow ourselves to be inspired by the things that are currently going on in the world.’ I already knew that Richard and I make a brilliant team, after all No Control had been a major success and a very special recording for us. Although I would never have thought that we’d be able to surpass it. But everybody who’s heard The Devil In Me and all the people who had worked on the previous album have told us: ‘This album is even stronger!’”

Suzi Quatro, now in her 57th year of writing and performing, certainly knows what she’s talking about. Since the beginning of her career as a 14-year-old singer and bassist she has achieved almost everything a musician could possibly hope to achieve. Her charismatic voice, her powerful bass style and global hits such as ‘Can The Can’, ‘48 Crash’, ‘Devil Gate Drive’, ‘If You Cant Give Me Love’, ‘Shes In Love With You’ and ‘Stumblin In’ made her a rock music icon in the 1970s. To this day, her motto is: “I won’t retire before I turn around, shake my ass and there’s silence.”

That this moment is still a long way in the distant future is partly due to The Devil In Me. “I have to confess that I could hardly wait to work on new material again with Richard after the release of No Control,” Suzi explains. “Every album has its own creative history and I know that it’s impossible to plan success. But Richard and I were certain of one thing: We knew we’d be a good team again.”

And every single note on The Devil In Me proves just how good this team is. The album presents Suzi’s full range of musical diversity plus a number of surprises. From rock tracks such as ‘The Devil In Me’, ‘Get Outta Jail’, ‘Motorcity Riders’ and ‘Hey Queenie’ (“these four songs are typical of me and continue the tradition of my 1973 debut album”) to fairly unusual numbers such as the pub atmosphere-inspired ‘Isolation Blues’ with its intimate mood or ‘In The Dark’ which is accompanied by elegant piano and provocative saxophone sounds, Suzi presents herself from a whole range of different aspects. “Richard wanted this album to have a through line, so that you could put any track on, and it just fit… he also said he wanted this album to be as important and ground breaking as my first one. So that is how we approached this project, and that is what we accomplished.”

‘My Heart And Soul’ shows just how creative Suzi and Richard could be – it’s without a doubt one of the most beautiful Christmas songs of recent years. Says Suzi: “I have a little studio at my house. Richard was in the studio working on ideas, I was sitting
on the patio, relaxing, and heard this absolutely beautiful track coming out of the open studio door. It was a bass line, with a sparse guitar chord, and drums. It was immediate for me. I ran into the studio, mask on of course, it was like a magnet. I asked him: ‘What is this?’ I told him to set up a microphone, I said: ‘Quick, quick, quick!’ And without thinking, without writing anything down, I sang the first for lines of the song exactly as they ended up. That`s when you know you have a great song … and we do!”

And so the lead single ‘My Heart And Soul’ (scheduled for release on 4 December 2020) hails an album that – you can’t help but agree with Suzi – probably really has turned into the best of her career so far.

TO KILL ACHILLES »Something To Remember Me By« OUT: February 5th, 2021

TO KILL ACHILLES are a 5-piece alternative rock band from Dundee, Scotland. Having recently signed to Arising Empire, the band are set to release their new full-length album in early 2021 with a touring schedule to follow.

Taking lyrical inspiration from personal life experiences and musical influence from a wide variety of alternative genres has allowed them to create a piece of art which fully encapsulates the bands message – “we only exist when we exist together.”

The band have extensively toured across the UK, the majority of Europe and Russia with bands such as WE CAME AS ROMANS, COUNTERPARTS, WHILE SHE SLEEPS, I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN, HEART IN HAND, BETRAYING THE MARTYRS and many more. In the hope to spread their message to as many individuals as possible, they plan to continue dominating their ever growing European market whilst reaching new territories further afield, pouring their heart and soul into every performance, on and off stage.

“This record is the story of a man who wakes up on his twenty fifth birthday and the events that happen throughout the course of a year that lead him to take his own life exactly one year on to the date. Each song represents a month in his life (with the exception of two moments of reflection). In each of the songs we tell a story that a member of the band had to go through over the last few years. Every song is real and is a portrayal of how we felt in that moment. The message of the record is to highlight that these events can happen, that people can be dealing with things without anyone else being aware. In our lives, we were lucky because we have the support network of our incredible friends and families, but in the case of our character, he does not. The record is a statement which shows that without support, even the strongest of people can be driven to contemplate taking their own lives. It’s so important to talk, it’s so important to find the people in life that you can share your lowest moments with because no one can be expected to go through that alone. Our character deals with alcoholism, a lack of direction or passion in life, the fear of growing older and losing yourself, the isolation felt by

The pressure you put on a partner when you’re not in the right headspace, the fear of showing your emotions as a male incase you’re seen as weak, the fear of death, the moment that suicide enters your mind as an escape and the loss of a parent. A lot of these things will happen in our lifetime and it’s important to know that if they do, there’s people out there who will help you through it. Something To Remember Me By is our characters suicide note, explaining why he felt he must walk that path, in a way it’s all of ours too as we all went through these things, we just had the people there to stop it from being our eventuality. The message we try to promote is that these things are normal, these feelings are normal and if you recognise any behaviour we speak of in anyone close to you, then it’s your responsibility to be the first to speak up. A conversation can save a life, don’t let anyone end up the way our character does. In a way this record is also the solution to the problems that we speak about, we poured our emotions into this, and after we’re gone, it’ll still be there, reminding people that we once existed and that we once felt as strongly as we do. It’s just something to leave behind, a memento, a token, or just something to remember me by.”

ANNISOKAY – the German Rock / Metal band is releasing its fifth studio album »Aurora« in 2021 and is reinventing themselves. Old braids were literally cut off and a new front man brought on board. The musical foundation has remained. Heavy guitar riffs and driving drum rhythms, paired with a mix of melodic goosebumps singing and aggressive shouts. Rudi Schwarzer is now responsible for the latter. The new front man was already able to convince the fans live.

ANNISOKAY played the X-Mas Bash Tour together with the EMIL BULLS in winter 2019. In January 2021 the new album »Aurora« will follow in a completely new guise. As usual, guitarist and singer Christoph Wieczorek is in charge of the production, whose charismatic and melodic voice will continue to provide goosebumps. The quartet is completed by the rhythm group, consisting of drummer Nico Vaeen and bassist Norbert Rose.

ANNISOKAY was founded in 2007 and has since been considered one of the most talented German bands with an international flair. The band has already played successful tours in Europe, Great Britain, Japan and the USA. With several headline shows in Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine, the band gained a loyal and massively growing fan base. The highlights were support shows for PARKWAY DRIVE in sold out halls in Moscow and St.Petersburg. The established independent record label SPV signed the band in 2014 and three studio albums were released, all of which made it into the top 100 of the official German album charts. In 2018, ANNISOKAY switched from SPV to Arising Empire. In the same year, the fourth studio album »Arms« was released, which reached #26, making it the band’s highest chart entry to date.

The idea for the band name comes from the song ‘Smooth Criminal’ by Michael Jackson. With »Annie Are You Okay?« ANNISOKAY released a Michael Jackson cover EP in 2016 to honor a true musical genius who served as the inspiration for the band name. What sound and what kind of music do ANNISOKAY stand for? Free of clichés typical of the genre or current sound trends and yet sounding modern, that is the maxim. Guitarist and singer Christoph Wieczorek has been a producer since the beginning of the band. This is how all ANNISOKAY albums are created, under the direction of Christoph, in his recording studio “Sawdust Recordings” in Halle / Saale.

After four studio albums, the brand new album »Aurora« is all about the new shouter. Aurora symbolizes the mystical polar light, full of hope on the dark horizon. ANNISOKAY had toured extensively in the years before and made the leap to international stages outside of Europe. The start for this was a four-week USA tour with I SET MY FRIENDS ON FIRE, from New York City to Los Angeles. Japan and Russia followed, as well as an extensive European tour. The band spent almost a year together on the tour bus. After the summer 2019 festival, the big cut came and the band split from the previous shouter. Long-time friend and experienced shouter Rudi Schwarzer was hired for the upcoming shows in 2019. Rudi has been playing in various hardcore bands for over 10 years. It quickly became clear that it would fit!

With new strength, fun and a lot of energy, ANNISOKAY continue their successful genre mix and set new standards for modern and melodic Rock / Metal music.

ONE MORNING LEFT  single ‘Neon Highway’

ONE MORNING LEFT start right off on top with their single ‘Neon Highway’, the first taste of this hell of an album.
‘Neon Highway‘ is a hyperactive love song full of pure chaos and fury, thoroughly resonating with the album title. As told by Leevi Luoto (guitar/vocals): “This is a straight up love song. MAD love. Also functions as the landscape-painter of the album, describing the world we’re singing about.”

 Watch ‘Neon Highway‘ now: https://youtu.be/kJcphnRex5w

ONE MORNING LEFT’s fourth album marks their first new material in five years. On »Hyperactive« the group begins a whole new chapter in their story, drawing inspiration from retro electronic- and video game music, as well as 80’s hard rock while staying true to their heavier roots.

Changes are happening not only in the musical style but also in their lineup. Returning from the cast of 2016’s “Metalcore Superstars” are frontman Mika Lahti, singer-guitarist Leevi Luoto, and drummer Niko Hyttinen. Additional firepower is provided by new faces Tuukka Ojansivu on guitar and Miska Sipiläinen on bass guitar, as well as the return-to-form of keyboard player Touko Keippilä from the band’s original “Panda <3 Penguin” lineup.

The album shapes up to be the artistic peak of ONE MORNING LEFT‘s musical “blood mountain”: epic lyrics carried by Luoto’s soaring vocal melodies, contrasted by the distinctive, gritty sound of Lahti, all accompanied by breathtaking keyboard leads, blisteringly fast guitars, masterful bass riffs, and feverish drum parts.

With the release of »Hyperactive«, ONE MORNING LEFT looks to add to their growing global fan base. Having gathered extensive live performance experience playing countless shows in Finland, touring mainland Europe, Russia, and the Baltics, and even performing in places such as Iceland and Japan, the group is planning on taking their entertaining and energetic live show on the road in the near future.

“Join us on our quest to make the world a bit more epic!”

Founded in 2008 in Vaasa, Finland, ONE MORNING LEFT is well known for their unique blend of electro, hardcore, and metalcore influences as well as their entertaining and energetic live shows where absolutely anything can happen. ONE MORNING LEFT has played shows with bands like AMARANTHE, MACHINAE SUPREMACY, ADEPT, PROTEST THE HERO, FEAR OF DOMINATION, TURMION KÄTILÖT, and WE BUTTER THE BREAD WITH BUTTER. The band has also graced the Finnish festival season, playing renowned festivals like Tuska Open Air and Rockfest. ONE MORNING LEFT‘s debut album »The Bree-Teenz« in 2011. The album reached #30 on Finland’s official album charts, followed by the sophomore album »Our Sceneration« at #45 in 2013.

Nick Johansson | Guitar

a very interesting album this new epos from tungsten. these 4 swedish boys really are not afraid of using and mixing several influences in their music.

sometimes you really don’t know in wich genre to put them. are they industrial, are they folk metal? no they are just tungsten. a band, that knows how to mix these influences.

as a teaser of this album i would propose ‘king of shadows’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUb9BA9cdoo), which has also been releazed as a single, this diamant of ‘not beeing afraid of mixing different influences’ ‘lock and load’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnQlxgoIwwk) and finally ‘this is war’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUYtsTnGn4U).

in every case this mixing of folk metal with industrial is a very interesting point of view…

Rock’n’Roll is a trip, not a destination…we all know how the saying goes!

The Dead Daisies continue their journey towards 2021 with new music, virtual performances and adventures.
The Dead Daisies have gone from strength to strength since the release of their selftitled album in 2013. They have released four studio, one live and one covers album to a growing army of fans worldwide and are praised by the global media in an era where Rock has been declared dead time and time again. The band’s DNA includes an amazing collective of players that includes John Corabi, Marco Mendoza, Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed, Frank Ferrer, Darryl Jones, Tommy Clufetos, Charley Drayton and Jon Stevens amongst others.

They’ve also shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Rock including Kiss, Guns N‘ Roses, Scorpions, Aerosmith, Bad Company, Whitesnake, ZZ Top and the Hollywood Vampires.

The Daisies have started the next chapter welcoming new band member Glenn Hughes. Also known as “The Voice Of Rock“, Glenn has taken over lead vocals and bass guitar, joining guitarists Doug Aldrich, David Lowy and drummer Deen Castronovo. With the addition of Glenn Hughes, The Daisies supercharge their front line through his rock solid bass grooves and unmatched vocal intensity.

As all fans know, the man is a true original, inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, with a rich history of music that features heavy weights like Deep Purple and Black Country Communion as well as a successful solo career. One might say: “They don’t build rockers like him anymore”. Followers can expect more High-Voltage Rock songs, indomitable grooves and spellbinding lyrics, all the ingredients that have made this music so timeless, out-living trends of the modern day.

The sound of The Dead Daisies is entrenched in the Hard Rock way of life we all love but as a living, breathing rock band, they are constantly evolving & bringing new dynamics to a classic style.

They’ve conducted multiple headline tours throughout Europe, Japan, South & North America and conquered some of the worlds most prestigious festivals such as Download, Wacken, Graspop, Sweden Rock as well as Woodstock Poland, where they played the notable Concert for Peace with a 60-piece orchestra in front of over 300,000 people in 2017.

Significantly, they were the first American Rock band welcomed back to Cuba after the embargo was lifted in 2015.

It’s the uplifting experience of a live show that makes Rock music so encompassing and where The Dead Daisies always deliver. Their concerts are known for creating a special connection between the players and their audience, giving life to each other, singing, screaming and relishing in the moment!!!

The upcoming album ‘Holy Ground’, was recorded by Producer Ben Grosse at La Fabrique Studio in the South of France and due for release early in 2021. The first single ‘Unspoken’ was released in April 2020 with the song continuing to receive global media praise, accolades and has definitely broken the silence! In July, The Lockdown Sessions EP was released with four stripped back semi-acoustic tracks, ‘Unspoken’, ‘Fortunate Son’ with Deen on lead vocals, ‘Righteous Days’ and an amazing version of the Humble Pie classic, ’30 Days In The Hole’ with Glenn and Doug.

The Daisies will kick off 2021 with a series of shows throughout Europe on the “Get Out Of The House Tour” followed by dates yet to be announced in the UK, Japan, US and Australia. June/July will see the band playing with Foreigner, Judas Priest and at numerous summer Festivals.

The Dead Daisies are pushing forward, giving energy and taking chances to ensure that every person who experiences them has no doubt that Rock is Indeed Alive & Well and here to stay.

Of course, John Diva & The Rockets Of Love could have taken the easy way out. Their 2019 debut album Mama Said Rock Is Dead instantly made 24th place in the German album chart list, putting the band on the map internationally practically overnight – in huge blinking neon signs.

Their dazzling video clips accompanying their singles are dripping with clichés and are causing quite the stir on the internet, while their tours following their album release turned out to be nothing less than a Rock´nRoll imbued victory parade with an ever-growing entourage.

What, therefore, could have been more natural than them adhering to the exact same 80ties glam rock inspired recipe for success for their second album American Amadeus, when it had worked like a charm for their first one?

But no, as lead singer John Diva points out. “That was never even an option for us. On the contrary: the challenge lies in growing, testing boundaries and inventing yourself over and over again on an artistic level. Stagnation means regression, so with American Amadeus we are definitely going one step further.”

Stylistically speaking especially, their 12 new songs are sounding out extremes. Or, as guitarist Snake Rocket describes the direction of their new album: “Our hard songs are even harder and faster, our flashy pieces even flashier”. He’s making it quite clear that this approach is due in parts to an increased self-confidence. “Our major tour for Mama Said Rock Is Dead has had a positive impact on us”, he says. “Thanks to the thoroughly positive feedback for our first album and its great reception at concerts, we’re going out on a limb even more with American Amadeus.” The album will be released on 15th January 2021 by Steamhammer/SPV and only a few weeks later the band will be going on a big concert tour. With American Amadeus John Diva & The Rockets Of Love are definitely growing and gaining even more personality.

At the core of the characteristic John Diva sound lies authentic and energetic Classic Hardrock, a style that first flourished during the 80ties and spread from Los Angeles all around the globe in an unparalleled way. Because one thing’s for sure: Where John Diva treads, there’s glitter and shine. So much so, that even the greats of that era can only shrug their shoulders resignedly.

The new songs, however, go even further, cross referencing not only formations like Van Halen, Mötley Crüe or Def Leppard, but also rock legends of the 70ties like The Who, Kiss in their early years or Black Sabbath. This already shows in their epic title song ‘American Amadeus‘, which is brimming with pomp, pathos, glamour and decadence.

This flair is also expressed in the accompanying video clip, which can only be described as opulent. “To us, ‘American Amadeus‘ is the perfect title track because it demonstrates the whole range of our stylistic repertoire” John Diva explains. “The song is glamorous, playfully electrifying and combines European high culture with American trash culture.” Much the same can be said for the first single ‘Bling Bling Marilyn‘, that boasts a chorus which literally blows your mind. The song was written by lead singer John Diva, together with Hannes Braun (Kissin Dynamite), who contributed valuable ideas to no less than 3 more songs. “We’re really happy with the collaboration”, the band enthuses, “especially as the fans will definitely be noticing his style in ‘Bling Bling Marilyn‘.” The same goes for Michael Voss (Mad Max, Michael Schenker), who had his share in composing ‘Champagne On Mars‘ and ‘This Is Rock´n`Roll‘ and who is playing a banjo slide solo in ‘Voodoo Sex & Vampires‘.

At the heart of this exceptional band is none other than pink comet John Diva himself, womanizer and a true gentleman. It’s his powerful voice that layers their humorous lyrics with intelligent and onomatopoeic innuendo. Always at his side are his wing men Snake Rocket and JJ Love, arguably the finest duo of guitar heroes on God’s green earth. Then there’s of course bassist Remmie Martin, the enigmatic heartthrob with the compelling gaze, and last but not least Lee Stingray Jr., a drumstick-whirling Jack Sparrow lookalike, the pirate once so congenially portrayed by Johnny Depp.

These fabulous five are pouring out catchy tunes in heaps, it seems. This is one tried and tested recipe for success that John Diva & The Rockets of Love have certainly stuck to with American Amadeus – and rightly so!

Line-Up:

John Diva – vocals

Snake Rocket – guitars

J.J. Love – guitars

Remmie Martin – bass

Lee Stingray jr. – drums

After the first retrospective The Chronicles Of Eden (2007), Edenbridge, one of the most unique bands in their genre, deliver their second „Best Of“ album, right on time to their 20th Anniversary. Part 2 is the quintessence of the studio albums 5-10 and again it was up to the fans to vote for their favorite tracks of each album. Creative mastermind/multi-instrumentalist
Lanvall: „The voting was not a major surprise and is more or less identical to the songs, we would also have chosen. Therefore 4 tracks of each album could be covered along with some older all out of print bonus tracks.“ As a surprise, there are 2 new recorded acoustic versions of the hits Higher (over 4 million views on YouTube) and Paramount featured, among the Easter Version 2020 of the song Dynamind, re-recorded by Sabine. Lanvall: „It was extreme fun to turn Higher into a nearly jazzy piano/vocal version showing a different side of us, formerly unknown. Paramount was one of the absolute fan favorites and so it was near to transform that song too and let it shine in a new light.“ The 150 minutes of the double album cover the big range of the symphonic metal sound and the compositional substance and consistency, Edenbridge has been standing for 20 years. Atmospherically dense compositions, directed mainly by Lanvall and vocalist Sabine Edelsbacher, which combine melodies and grooves, toughness and sensitivity, emotions and intellect, spirit and the subconscious mind in a unique way. The atmospheric artwork was inspired by a vision, singer Sabine had, linking the spiritual awakening to a Aurora Borealis. Sabine: „After an own spiritual experience a couple of years ago and without an explainable reason, I felt a deep connection to the name Aurora. Subsequently I concerned myself with what the name stands for and relating it now to a heart quality, which might lead us to higher consciousness. Especially when there is a lot of negativity in the room, a possibility for transformation exists, through recognition and acceptance, respectively the self-responsibility for own feelings. Edenbridge always followed this path and especially now it is even more important to get into the own truthfulness.“ The graphic direction of the cover artwork was again in the hands of drummer Johannes Jungreithmeier, who developed into the creative visual pole of the band since his entrance into the band in 2016. All tracks were produced by Lanvall and mixed by Threshold mastermind Karl Groom, with whom the band has been collaborating for 15 years now. „YESTERDAY IS HISTORY, TOMORROW IS A MYSTERY, TODAY IS A GIFT“

Current Line-Up:

Sabine Edelsbacher: Lead vocals

Lanvall: Lead- & rhythm guitars, bass, 6 & 12 string acoustic guitars, piano, keyboards, orchestration, Hammered Dulcimer, Kacapi, Bouzouki, Mandolin

Dominik Sebastian: Lead- & Rhythm guitars

It’s been three years since Magnum brought out The Valley Of Tears – The Ballads, a compilation that focused on the British rock act’s quiet, more otherworldly and dreamy side.

Three years during which the idea matured to follow this successful release (top 100 of the German album charts) with a companion piece.

Dance Of The Black Tattoo has turned into exactly that: a collection of songs that present Magnum exclusively as tough-as-nails rocking and extremely vibrant musicians.

What makes this album, available from 8 January 2021 on Steamhammer/SPV on CD, double LP and for digital download, so special is the fact that Magnum have gone through their impressive archive, looking for rare live cuts and outstanding radio versions and have come up with spirited live recordings and edits that concentrate on the essential components of some of their most accomplished rock numbers.

Naturally, guitarist and band mastermind Tony Clarkin has used this opportunity to remaster and update all 14 tracks so that they comply with the state-of-the-art of (sound) technology.

Says Clarkin: “There have always been two aspects to Magnum: a slightly more tender and lyrical facet, but first and foremost of course our powerful, rocking side. And that’s the element that Dance Of The Black Tattoo documents impressively.” The album kicks off with live versions of ‘Black Skies’ and ‘Freedom Day’, previously available exclusively as DVD bonus tracks on Escape From The Shadow Garden. “The perfect launch of this compilation because they present Magnum musically and lyrically from our familiar raw side. The subsequent ‘All My Bridges’ is a little different in that the music is still heavy, but the lyrics are more poetic,” explains Clarkin, whose dynamic guitar style has harmonized perfectly with Magnum vocalist Bob Catley’s warm and charismatic voice for almost fifty (!) years.

‘On A Storyteller’s Night’, the title track of their 1985 masterpiece, and ‘Dance Of The Black Tattoo’ are another two rare live tracks from the bonus section of Escape From The Shadow Garden, followed by radio edits of their seasonal anti-war number ‘On Christmas Day’ and the fan favourite ‘Born To Be King’ off their classic Goodnight L.A., previously only available on vinyl or for digital download, followed by ‘Phantom Of Paradise Circus’ and ‘No God Or Saviour’, both bonus tracks from Sacred Blood – Divine Lies.

Clarkin: “To be honest, when I started going through those old masters, I didn’t even have ‘Phantom Of Paradise Circus’ on my radar. I usually start working on new material about four weeks after the release of an album, so occasionally a song may sink into oblivion although it has a lot of substance and class. Such as ‘Phantom Of Paradise Circus’. I really love that number and am happy that it is getting the attention it deserves at last.” ‘Your Dreams Won’t Die’ and ‘Twelve Men Wise And Just’ are two live bonus tracks which first featured on Lost On The Road To Eternity, before ‘Show Me Your Hands’, ‘Not Forgiven’ and ‘Madman Or Messiah’ – three previously unreleased radio edits from the still topical studio recordings Lost On The Road To Eternity (2018) and The Serpent Rings (2020) – round off the new release. “Sometimes it’s not easy to shorten a carefully balanced composition for the radio, but in these three cases it worked really well,” reckons Clarkin.

Talking of working well: Naturally the artwork of Dance Of The Black Tattoo was designed by Magnum‘s tried-and-tested cover artist Rodney Matthews, who always succeeds in translating the special ambience of the British rock group’s albums into atmospheric images and colours.

Clarkin: “This time it was easy really: I called Rodney, told him the album title and he sent me this absolutely fascinating artwork. I bet our fans will love his little masterpiece.” Having said that, Clarkin is sure to win this kind of bet for the whole of Dance Of The Black Tattoo.

Guitarist Parris Mayhew Reveals Playthrough for AGGROS Debut Track “Chaos Magic”

Guitarist/songwriter Parris Mayhew has issued a new dual guitar and bass playthrough for the debut song from his new instrumental hardcore/metal band AGGROS, “Chaos Magic”.

The playthrough can be watched here: https://youtu.be/8AO9Dp24EJY

The “Chaos Magic” playthrough is heavier on bass than the original track, a decision Mayhew made because the song was primarily written on the bass with a heavy emphasis on his unusual percussive and rhythmic strumming style.

“I felt that the bass perspective would be a way to show more comprehensively where the song originated and how it was built, the former Cro-Mags songwriter and founder says. Hearing the bass a little louder demonstrates clearly where the swagger that the song exhibits comes from, underlining the aggressive string bend melodies and percussive riffs that define the drums and outline the chords.”

The result is loud and raw but shows a kind of surgical finesse in the midst of the chaos, which is necessary to hold it all together.

“Chaos Magic” is certainly a guitar song too, exhibiting casual chord harmonies that brighten and exaggerate phrase resolutions, off the rails WTF riffs and Mayhew’s signature Cro-Mags picking style which helped define a genre with his songs on the seminal albums Age of Quarrel and Best Wishes.

”I believe that a song should be a journey, there should be a clear introduction to set up the listener for the ride, and a ceremonious feeling of arrival at a destination to be experienced and a few musical surprises along the way.” Mayhew said. “And of course all great songs should have a feeling that the journey is complete, the catharsis, a lesson I learned from both Motörhead and Rush. Motörhead, particularly, in that within their deceptively simple approach there always comes a thoughtful, surprising and very musical ending, songs should have great endings.”

AGGROS will release music in a true DIY hardcore style – no label, self-releasing one song at a time, accompanied by a video for each. The music will sound and feel familiar to anyone who knows Mayhew’s previous three albums, as AGGROS is simply a continuation of his musical exploration.

ANNISOKAY - the German Rock / Metal band is releasing its fifth studio album »Aurora« in 2020 and is reinventing themselves. In winter 2020 the new album »Aurora« will follow in a completely new guise.

The highlights were support shows for PARKWAY DRIVE in sold-out halls in Moscow and St.Petersburg. The established independent record label SPV signed the band in 2014 and three studio albums were released, all of which made it into the top 100 of the official German album charts. In 2018, ANNISOKAY switched from SPV to Arising Empire. In the same year, the fourth studio album »Arms« was released, which reached  #26, making it the band's highest chart entry to date.

Just a year ago …
“Risen from the (un)dead: The band around guitarist and songwriter Peter Pathos and singer Andrew James 'Dead L-Vis' will celebrate their comeback with new songs at Castle Rock 2020.”

That's how the press text read last year, announcing Beloved Enemy planned comeback they actually wanted to celebrate at the Castle Rock Festival.
Actually, Beloved Enemy wanted to present their new and third album there.
Actually, everything was already perfectly prepared, and the band couldn't wait to finally hit the stages again. Actually ... but then everything turned out differently.

Because a virus threw everything off course.
A virus that not only reset the entire festival landscape to hour zero but also left a lasting impact around the world.  As if he had already guessed it in 2008, Peter Pathos wrote the song "Virus Undead" for the soundtrack of the movie of the same name by the director duo Wolf Wolff and Ohmuthi, dealing with a similar theme.

The virus may have changed the world and everything we know permanently. Beloved Enemy have also changed in the six years of their absence – show themselves, from a different side – but still, remain true to themselves. A virus may mutate – even a "Virus Undead". And from this mutation finally came the idea to show the band and the music of Peter Pathos from a completely different side. Four old and one completely new song now show "Another Side" of Beloved Enemy.

In short:
"Enemy Mine", the debut of Beloved Enemy came out of nowhere in 2007 and is quite something. Industrial, Metal, Gothic, Rock, the musical mixture from the pen of Peter Pathos is incomparable and lays a perfect foundation for the unique voice of singer 'Dead L-Vis'. Performances at Wave Gotik Treffen, Rock Harz, Wacken Rocks South, Magic Circle Festival, or Castle Rock follow as well as the second album "Behind Enemy Lines" in 2011. "Another Side" now shows the band from an acoustic side and impressively announces the comeback of the guys in 2021.

+ + + LEFT HAND SOLUTION – The cult doom metal band from Sweden is back again.

LEFT HAND SOLUTION released a new single “First Day Of Winter”!

Drummer and songwriter Erik Barthold about the song:

”I remember starting to write the song “First Day Of Winter” as the first snow fell in the year of 2002. Little did I imagine that it would take another 18 years for it to be fully completed! The song was finished this summer in a hot recording studio, but of course, we had to wait until the winter solstice for this release. Sorry, that we’ve kept you waiting, but here it finally is in its full winter dress.”

What made Left Hand Solution always special was their combination of hard riffs, dark melodies, and Mariana Frykman’s dark and beautiful voice. Being one of the early metal band with a female vocalist their influence has been largely overlooked and their cult following has grown quite a lot lately. And now, it’s time for a new album and a new development for the band. The new Album “Dead of Winter” is scheduled for April 16th, 2021.

Left Hand Solution formed in 1991, released 3 albums and toured Europe, US and Canada, and made a large impression with their unique take on Doom metal for more than 10 years. Then the band just faded away. Until 2019, when they suddenly released – the in secrecy recorded album – “Through The Mourning Woods”. An updated version of Left Hand Solution’s sweet nightmare that combined sounds from their early doom days and goth elements of their later days and put it all in a new context. The band has been resurrected for very successful local gigs several times during the last years, but it was not until Erik and original guitarist Joakim became neighbors that things starting to really happen. Suddenly they found themselves writing songs in Erik’s basement and soon Peter and Mariana happily joined in.
