After 2020's "Destination Hell",
the North German metal rockers BLACK HAWK
release their brand-new album "Soulkeeper" via Fastball Music
with ten driving heavy metal anthems clearly rooted
in the classic metal sound
of SAXON, JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT and IRON MAIDEN.
This comes as no surprise as the band was formed in 1981
and their debut album "First Attack" was released in 1989.
Nevertheless, the band has actually picked up pace
only in the last decade with numerous albums
that have been able to enthuse more and more genre fans.
The ten new tracks take exactly the same line
and impress with pumping metal rhythms, hard riffs, groovy solos
and catchy refrains.
There is hardly a song on the album
that you cannot sing along to at the top of your lungs.
The songs were recorded at Wellenschmiede Studio
and mixed and mastered by Timo Höcke
(Mantar, Ancient Curse, Inner Axis, Whiskey Hell).
In terms of backing vocals,
the band was supported by e. g. Dirk Schlächter
(Gamma Ray, Ross The Boss), Mark Brühning (Bad Influence),
Conny Bethke (Chainreaction, Wheels Of Steel)
and Hanjo Gehrke (Skytap, Wheels Of Steel).
The band will also play some live shows again this year
starting March 25th (album release show) to blow away the audience
with their new songs live on stage.

The Swiss alternative rock band DIRTY VELVET
will release their debut album "Far Beyond The Moon"
on the 14th of april, 2023, via Fastball-Music / BOB-MEDIA.
The band was founded in Lausanne / Switzerland in 2019
and since then has attracted a lot of attention
with their live performances, especially in their home country.
The album's ten tracks grew organically over the years
until the decision was made to head into the studio
to record the album in 2022.
DIRTY VELVET deliver an extremely diverse sound,
which, alongside punk metallic influences,
has a healthy bit of early SONIC YOUTH influences,
while always remaining crisp and melodic.
The band knows how to fluctuate between quiet passages
and snotty, cracking sounds,
whereas the voice of singer Ekaterina (Kathy) resonates
with a good shot of 70s female punk.
"Far Beyond The Moon"
sounds carefree, snotty and refreshingly non-constructed.
Straightforward rock music from the heart and soul.
The band will release two singles plus video clips
in support of the album and will play some live shows this year,
which will hopefully take them beyond the Swiss borders.

After the first album "Down The Hatch" (2017) and several concerts,
THE GROUND SHAKER broke free from the shackles
of the pandemic's lockdowns to produce their second opus
of 13 tracks "Rogue Asylum", offering a groovy and resonating rock, chiseled with raging riffs and bewitching harmonies.
A modern heavy rock sound to make the tectonic plates collide
and give birth to the most majestic summits.
Channeling their inner rage and bringing grit and groove
back to the rock scene,
these four guys let their band name speak for them:

Chiseling their style, the band is revitalizing the genre,
sticking to their roots, and playing with a fearless conviction
that is lacking in many of today's bands.
The combo is led by Giro Reign (guitar, vocals) and Dav Elgin (guitar):
Giro mixes his raspy voice and sharp riffs with bluesy solos,
creating a heavy and yet tasteful music.
THE GROUND SHAKER definitely bears the US footprint,
that singer/guitarist Giro Reign has acquired in California,
and embellishes it with harmonies and effective rhythms
conferred by Dav Elgin's guitar.
Vortex Ram's distorted bass complements the perfect chemistry
of the band by supporting Bat Ducora's strike and present drums,
thus making the rhythm section a locomotive of these hairy compositions.

Based on their first album "Down The Hatch" Giro and Dav
wanted to produce a second opus that stands out,
with a production of exceptional quality,
where both musician can affix their seal, their musical signature.
With Giro's astonishing talent of composition
and Dav's signature arrangements to embellish the songs,
the demos show a great potential.
To push the songs further, they conjured three world class references:
the famous Ted Jensen for mastering,
Johann Meyer for mixing
and the producer Marc Le Goff (Shake Shake Go).
This collaboration produces "Rogue Asylum",
an album of exceptional quality.
Listening to it, there are not only tunes, but hits of thunder!
The band started promoting the album from autumn 2022
with three single and video releases
and the latest fourth single "88 Strong As A Lion" in 2023
and will continue with new singles/videos until the album release

Finnish melancholic metal band Abandon All
releases their debut album "Far Away" later this year.
The second single from the upcoming album has been released.
"Stupid People" is a song about school bullying.
This is a topic that affects unfortunately many children and young people.
Some members of Abandon All have themselves been through it
and that is why it seemed important to them
to talk about it through a song.
Abandon All was founded in 2020 and after one year

Dutch progressive Death Metal legends Phlebotomized
at the peak of their 30 year old career!
Phlebotomized is among the oldest Death Metal bands from Holland
and one of the first using violin and synthesizers in extreme metal.
Their typical “Death Metal with a twist” caused a stir
in the booming Dutch metal scene back in the early 90’s.
Formed in 1989, Phlebotomized started out
as a Grindcore/Death Metal band, inspired by acts like
Morbid Angel, Nocturnus and Paradise Lost.
Later on, the band began to use keyboard and violin arrangements,
resulting in their unique sound.
Their “Devoted to God” demo (1992) was recognized
as a classic one demo worldwide.
In 1994 Phlebotomized
released their seminal “Immense Intense Suspense” album
which offered an intelligent blend of atmosphere and brutality.
It took the Death Metal scene by storm,
giving both the band and the album a legendary Cult status worldwide.
The band played numerous shows but disbanded
shortly after the release of their second full-length album
“Skycontact” in 1997.
After a hibernation of 16 years, Phlebotomized regrouped in 2013
upon the re-release of their classic albums.
The band played several live-shows
and started thinking of forging a new album.
After some changes in line-up,
their comeback album “Deformation of Humanity” was recorded
and released by Hammerheart Records in 2019.

This album received raving reviews and Phlebotomized
played several (international) shows and festivals in 2019.
In 2020 they hit the studio again
to record their EP “Pain, Resistance, Suffering”, released in 2021.
Again a recording containing all elements
that distinguishes Phlebotomized from the ordinary:
wayward and exploring beyond the scopes of conventional paths
in Death Metal.
Forward to 2023 and “Clouds Of Confusion”!
If you are a Death Metal fan that still craves for the 90’s,
you need “Clouds of Confusion”.
It does not get better than this
if you love what Phlebotomized did in the past.
If you need to bang your head check out “Clouds of Confusion “
for some real Old School Death Metal.
For those of you who need not mindlessly bang their head,
who can allow things like atmosphere and intelligence
to occasionally enter into your realm,
you will really appreciate this just as well.
But still, we would not justify
what Phlebotomized delivers on this great album,
because there is so much more to hear and discover.
Something that is rare these days, an album that grows,
an album that reveals something new with each spin.
Perhaps it is again an album ahead of its time,
although it is definitely looking back in time just as well.

Finnish atmospheric progressive metal band Alase
released a new single and music video 'Fate's Intervention'.
The track is taken from their upcoming second studio album
'A Matter of Time' which is released
on April 14th 2023 via Finnish Inverse Records.
Guitarist Janne comments 'Fate's Intervention':
"Fate's Intervention" single represents the rougher and darker side of the upcoming A Matter of Time album. We chose it as the second single, because we wanted to showcase also the heavier side of the album. Markus Hirvonen performed the vocals on the song which starts with heavy modern style riffing and screaming vocals. After the intro we move to a calmer, but ominous section. The song has lots of twists and turns, but the choruses are more straightforward and have a glimpse of hope. Alase is a fairly guitar-driven band, but we rarely have solos. However, for "Fate's Intervention" me and Mikko both wanted to play solos. In a way, it was a shame to bury the good rhythmic riffs hidden under the solos, but we are sure that the sharp-eared listeners will pick them up there."
Lyricist Ninni comments the lyrics and music video:
"While writing the "Fate's Intervention" lyrics, I could hear in my head that screaming vocals would be well suited for this song. In the text, I did not hold back at all, I just let it come out without censoring myself. Lyrics and music video reflect a person's struggle with health problems. The screenplay of the music video had been waiting for a suitable moment in my desk drawer for quite a long time. Aarni Visuals created the music video skilfully and in his own personal style. The video supports the spirit of the song perfectly."

Weightless World, a melodic metal band from Jyväskylä Finland,
released their debut album 'The End Of Beginning' in 2019
and are finally preparing to launch it's follower.
The second album's name remains yet unpublished
but it will be released in fall 2023.
The new single and music video 'Initiate Restart'
from the upcoming album has been released.
Valtteri Viinikka, the band's guitarist, explains:
''Initiate Restart is a true metal banger flavored with well-timed twists and pinnacled with a trademark big and epic WW-chorus. The song has been tested a few times live and results have been very convincing!''
The song's straightforward rhythm, explosive energy
and irresistible catchiness are familiar features of the band.
Kari Rannila, the drummer of the band:
''In summary it's a tight and catchy song where influences from some of our favorite bands are slappin high fives with each other.''
As for the music video the game is on and stakes are high.
Perttu Korhonen, the band's singer:
''The music video is about pondering whether life and death are in our own hands or just dictated events by someone or something else. What if our lives are only a game of chess where the moves made by you determine how long you can keep up with death?''
Viinikka adds:
''The topic can be also approached by thinking what kind of bet would be enough for you to put it all on the line. How high the reward or even how bad your present situation must be in order for you to risk your health, wealth, relationships and even yourself so you can aim for the better you desire?''

Founded in 2011, the band patiently developed their music
for the first years until releasing their first official single
'My Devotion' in 2017.
This was followed by their independently released debut album
'The End of Beginning' in 2019
which laid out a solid base for the band’s style and sound.
The versatile album has withstood the test of time well
and many devoted followers have told they’ve found new hooks to this date.
The album was also received well by the critics

fans of melodic, progressive metal and metalcore.”
During the trying times in the last couple of years
caused by the global pandemic the band withdrew to write new songs
and continued to refine their sound.
The silence ended on September 6th 2022, as Weightless World
released a brand new single called 'Ragdoll'.
A publication of the new material continues
as fast-paced as the second single 'Hopeless Dreams'
saw its daylight in october 25th, 2022.

DreamSpy is about to release its second album.
The album is titled "Out Of This World"
and will be out on March 31st through Inverse Records.
The undertone of the album's songs lies in the rhythms
of blues-based dark rock, dark electro
and the moods of the painting synth world.
The lyrics of the album wander in the turmoil
of a selfish and destructive mind,
seasoned with sarcasm and flashes of light.
"The dance of the subconscious and the superego in the world of distortions."
DreamSpy is an experimental, audiovisual solo project
of vocalist-bassist Anssi Tamminen.
The vocal point of the sound is an electric upright bass
coated with distortion and effects, which is supported by drums,
a mix of machine and the traditional-type of drum sounds.
Sounds from piano and synthesizer take the spotlight every now and then.

Vocal-interpretation of Tamminen goes sound-wise
from a fragile whisper to a blustering baritone.

Helsinki-based Fearout releases new 'Resistenza' EP
as a follow up for their 'Bleedthrough' (Inverse 2021) debut album. 'Resistenza' will be released on May 5th 2023 by Inverse Records.
The new EP will expand band's repertoire to punk rock,
but the band still combines their rough-edged metal rock
with stoner influences.

Fun fact: when we started this band, I suggested that we should call it Stringer Bell.'

Finnish dark metal band Kuoleman Galleria
releases their fourth studio album "Pedon Synty" on March 24th 2023.
Now they have released the third and final single "Sieluvaras"
from the album.
The frontman Kimmo Jankkari backgrounds the single:
"'Sieluvaras' (Soulthief) takes you back to the suppressed memories. It leads to the domination over you. To despair, anger and revenge. The ascendancy might anyhow turn over and the king might have to step down from his throne. When there is only one path to follow the choises are limited to minimum. This song crystallizes the story of the album. It's a metamorphosis that end up into the destruction of the entity holding the power."
