The metal band Dimman has finally completed their long-awaited second album, ‘Consciousness‘.
Over the years, the band’s music has evolved to be more riff-driven, but beautiful melodies and technical musicianship continue to make the songs versatile and full of surprises.
On this album, the band flirts with shades of melodeath, nu-metal, metalcore, and black metal, yet forms a cohesive and unique ensemble of genres.
The album addresses the weaknesses and problems of the human mind, delving into challenges that almost everyone faces at some point in their lives.
However, ‘Consciousness‘ is not just about gloom;
it also includes many glimpses of hope.
The album was mainly produced by the band itself, which brings out their vision and energy in the best possible way.
The mixing responsibility was carried by Mattias Ohlsson (MO Metal Productions), whose powerful and clear soundscape seamlessly integrates both heavy riffs and delicate details.
Earlier on in 2025 the Finns had released their fourth and last single ‘Cease The Vengeance‘.
Guitarist Jaakko Yli-Sorvari tells about this song:
“‘Cease the Vengeance’ is the most romantic song on the album, almost a mid-tempo waltz by Dimman’s standards. The song serves as a crucial part of the album both musically and lyrically. Its musical roots revolve around traditional melodic death metal and doom, complementing the extensive expression of previous singles. Thematically, ‘Cease the Vengeance’ tells how difficulties can be overcome, even if one has to momentarily crawl through the depths.”

Finnish melodic death metal band Dimman is set to release their second studio album ‘Consciousness‘ on February 28th 2025 via Inverse Records.
The third single ‘The Acrimony‘ has been released along with a music video.
Guitarist Jaakko Yli-Sorvari:
“‘The Acrimony’ contains something new and something old, I would say the track even plays with darkness. Although it’s full throttle almost all the time, the driver still has a light grin on their face. The song is packed with musical tricks, and special mention must go to our drummer Arto, who sometimes seems to have the tentacles of an octopus. The breathless tempo of the song also allowed for a hefty dose of lyrics, which our vocalist spits out at times like a true rapper.”

Guitarist Jaakko Yli-Sorvari says:
“The second single, ‘The First Daylight,’ represents the heaviest offering on the album, flirting with both black metal and metalcore tones. The track’s tight riffs and aggressive drumming provide a good workout for the neck muscles for just over three minutes. The lyrics are inspired by times when good periods turn worse and difficulties try to take over the mind. However, sometimes it’s good to dwell on the dark side a bit, and the composition is a great example of how negative experiences can be channeled into music, as cliché as it may sound, haha!”
